Center column segments with preload!
When opening the tripod locks (4), make sure that you keep enough distance to the upper end of the stand and that you do not bend over it. On delivery state, the springs in the segments of the center column are under spring tension. To achieve the minimum packing size, the internally installed spring damping elements are pushed together slightly for delivery and then lo-cked. This results in a pretension of the central column segments. When the locking hand screws are opened, the center column elements can shoot out up to 20 cm. This can lead to injuries!
**Set up the lamp stand, opening of the center column segments and the
tri-pod legs**
Open the tripod locks (4) on the center column locks by turning them
counterclock-wise. Note the previous Note. Then loosen the locking screw of
the tripod lock (5). Pull the tripod legs (8) outwards and press the tripod
star (6) downwards. This spreads the legs. Set the desired angle of the tripod
legs. Fix the tripod legs by tightening the tripod lock screw (5). Note that
the center columm must not touch the ground.
Proceed in reverse order when folding the stand.
WARNING
Risk of squeezing fi ngers between struts and the tripod legs (7)
Height adjustment
The tripod is equipped with a telescopic center column which can be extended.
The locking clamps of the center column (3) are fi xed by the tripod locks (4).
To adjust the height of the tripod, loosen the tripod locks (4) by turning
counterclock-wise. Set to the desired height and tighten the screws again.
Press the center column elements down to check if all locks are fi xed
correctly. The stand is now ready to use.
Position the stands where you will need them.
Mounting of the pole
Connect the two parts of the pole by using the central spigot. After insertion, turn 90° so that the arrows on the stickers align, in order to lock the connection. Then mount the fi rst pole on the fi rst tripod. Tighten the screw. Then extend to desired length using both extensions euqally, lock the extension again by turning it and then mount the pole onto the second tripod. Tighten the screw.
NOTICE
Set up your background system with a second person.
When connecting the two poles, extend the telescopic section of the pole
without the spigot for a few centimeters fi rst to make room for the spigot.
The spigot socket on both sections is rotatable.
WARNING
Risk of injury by improper use! When unlocking the telescopic sections, they can slide out and hurt someone. When mounting the pole, it could topple or fall and hurt someone. Never mount the pole in an unlocked state!
WARNING
Mount paper backgrounds, backcloths or ornamental elements only directly on the pole. Never use ropes or other means to brace a roof- or tent-like structure from the background systems. The whole system could topple.
NOTICE
The pole must always be level, never slanted.
Mounting rolling core based backgrounds
Set up the tripods. Extend the pole to the desired length and lock. Thread
pole trough rolling core carefully. Mount pole to tripods.
NOTICE
For mounting rolling cores, you need a second person to help.
Height adjustment of a mounted background system
If a rolling core is mounted, roll up the background and secure against unrolling. Get a second person to help.
With one hand, each person grip the upper end of a tripod so that the pole is resting securely between thumb and index fi nger on the back of the hand. With the other hand loosen the desired tripod lock and raise or lower the tripod element to the desi-red height. Tighten the tripod lock.
NOTICE
Adjust the height of the system preferably with the help of a second person. To adjust the height alone, raise or reduce the height on both tripods in turn by 5 cm at the most until you reach the desired height.
Moving the background system
If you use a rolling core background, roll up the background and secure it against unrolling. Remove backcloths or ornamental elements. Get a second person to help.
With one hand, each person grip the upper end of the tripod’s central column right below the pole, so that the pole rests on the back of each person’s hand between thumb and index fi nger. With the other hand, also grab the tripod’s central column. Lift a few centimeters carefully. Move the background system to its new location and set it down carefully. Mount the weights again, if you use any. Unroll the back-ground or mount the backcloth or ornamental elements.
NOTICE
Move the mounted background system only with the help of a second person. When setting it down in the new location, be careful not to cant it, not to set it up tilted or in any other way that puts stress or tension on the system.
Using the tripods
Without the pole, the tripods function as full-featured lamp stands.
Installation of equipment on the pole
The pole must be mounted correctly, before equipment or ornamental elements
may be attached to it. The telescopic sections must be locked. The tripods
must stand stable on a level surface.
CAUTION
The whole pole is rotatable. Equipment may only be mounted to the pole in a hanging confi guration.
CAUTION
Mind the max load capacity of the background system of 6 kg! See technical specifi cations.
Recommended accessories, some for increased stability
When using heavy equipment with large extension height, we recommend ad-
ditional accessories for stabilization. For this we recommend the use of
special sandbags or weights.
You will fi nd suitable accessory articles in our web shop www.foto-

Usage notes and maintenance of the tripods
-
Note that lamp stands generally must be placed on a suffi ciently strong, level surface to ensure maximum stability and maximum load.
-
Note the maximum load capacity of your tripod model, note that the max. load values are specifi ed for centrally mounted equipment on the stand.
-
Regular removal of sand, dust and other contaminants is recommended.
If you notice a scratching or crunching sound when moving the center column segments, remove the impurities with a soft, damp cloth. -
If this does not help, loosen the screws of the locks and take the relevant segments out.
-
Hold the center column segment with one hand during the release of the locks before you loosen one adjustment screw.
Usage notes and maintenance of the pole
- Generally, all parts of the telescopic poles are maintenance-free. Remove impurities with a soft, damp cloth.
- Do not move a stand or background system with mounted equipment and extended center column.
