*Using the strain relief: Gather up a loop of wire and pass it through the strain relief, then pass the adapter plug through the loop in order to create a knot.
Quick Start
-
Remove all packing materials and decide where the unit is to be physically placed. The MediaTrack can be mounted in any standard 19” rack (requiring one rack space), or used on a tabletop.
-
Before connecting a microphone or line level audio device, make sure that the power to all your systems components, including the MediaTrack, is turned off.
-
Using an XLR or 1/4” cable, connect a wired microphone or the output of a wireless micro-phone receiver to the Mic input jack on the rear of the MediaTrack.
-
Connect a music source, like a CD player, to the RCA jacks on the rear panel of the MediaTrack. The red connector is the right input and the white connector is the left input. Portable audio devices, like an MP3 player, can be connected to the 1/4” or 1/8” stereo inputs on the front of the MediaTrack.
-
Connect the outputs of the MediaTrack to the inputs of a power amplifier or speaker sys-tem using XLR or RCA cables.
-
Turn the MediaTrack Master Volume control all the way down and turn the MediaTrack power on.
NOTE: It is important to remember the Golden Rule of audio … “LAST ON, FIRST OFF”. Translated, this means that when turning on your system, you should always turn your pow-er amplifiers or powered monitors on LAST, and when turning your system off, turn your power amps off FIRST. This helps avoid any loud pops caused by inrush current at power up, which can sometimes damage loudspeakers. -
Turn the power amplifier or speaker system on and turn the volume up.
-
Set the MIC volume control of the MediaTrack to the 12 o’clock position.
-
While talking into the microphone, raise the MASTER VOLUME control until you have reached the desired level.
-
Play music from the connected music source and raise the MUSIC volume control. Adjust the MIC and MUSIC volume until the microphone signal is able to be heard above the music.
Avoiding Feedback
Feedback is the annoying howling and squealing that can heard when the microphone picks up sound from the speaker. The sound is then re-amplified back through the speaker again, creating a feedback loop. Follow these steps to minimize the likelihood of feedback:
- Avoid pointing the microphone directly at the speakers. In general it is recommended that the microphone be positioned behind the speaker enclosure. This uses the directional characteristics of the speaker and microphone to your advantage.
- Keep the microphone as far from the speakers as possible. This will help achieve isolation between the speaker and the microphone.
- Position the microphone as close to the sound source as possible. This will enable the microphone to pick up more direct sound, and allow you to reduce the microphone input gain control.
Pairing with a Bluetooth® device
Bluetooth is a wireless communication technology that allows for connectivity between a wide range of devices. The MediaTrack uses Bluetooth to stream high quality audio from your Bluetooth-enabled device without the need for connecting any cables. In order for your device to work with the MediaTrack, it must first be paired.
- With the MediaTrack and your Bluetooth device powered on, press and hold the PAIR button on the front panel of the MediaTrack mixer to make the mixer discoverable. The white Bluetooth indicator will flash slowly.
- In the settings of your Bluetooth device, set it to “discover” available devices.
- From the Bluetooth device list, select the “SAMSON BLUETOOTH” device.
- If your device asks for a passkey, enter digits 0000 (four zeros) and press OK. Some devices may also ask you to accept the connection.
- As the MediaTrack is connecting to your device, the Bluetooth indicator will quickly flash white.
- The MediaTrack indicates that pairing is complete when the indicator turns steady white. You can now stream audio from your device to the MediaTrack.
- On your Bluetooth device, set the volume to the maximum setting and start playing music.
- Use the MUSIC volume knob on the front panel of the MediaTrack to set the desired level of the Bluetooth audio.
