Instructions for Solight 1T04A Breath Analyzer
Thank you for purchasing our digital breath analyzer, which measures the alcohol content of your breath and indicates the possible level of intoxication.

Description

SOLIGHT 1T04A Breath Analyzer 1

Power
Batteries: use only 1.5 V alkaline batteries – 3x AAA LR03. 1.2 V rechargeable batteries are insufficient for the operation of the device. In particular, when using partially discharged rechargeable batteries, the display intensity may be reduced and the device will interpret this condition as low batteries. Open the battery cover by pushing the lock, see arrow in the picture. Then insert the batteries. Observe the marked polarity.SOLIGHT

USB cable: The cable is not used to charge the batteries, but to
power the device directly. There is no risk of damaging the batteries. You can use any 5V USB power adapter. The output current does not matter.
Operation
After inserting the batteries or plugging in the USB power cable, the sensor cleaning and warming up process starts automatically. During this process, the Clr symbol is displayed. The whole process takes about 1 minute. You can skip the process by pressing the power button twice.
Measurements

  1. Rinse your mouth with clean water before using the breath analyzer. Do not smoke or drink alcohol for at least 10 minutes prior to the measurement. Taking measurements immediately or shortly after consuming alcohol is inaccurate and usually also causes damage to the measuring sensor. A claim, for this reason, would be unjustified.
  2. Tilt the swivel mouthpiece perpendicular to the instrument. Only this swivel mouthpiece can be used for testing. When testing more than one person, for hygiene reasons, attach the tube (supplied with the device) to the mouthpiece. Use a new mouthpiece tube for each person.
  3.  Press the button for 1 second to switch on the instrument, followed by the activation of the test sensor lasting approximately 40 seconds. The display will start counting down to the number “40”, after which “WAIT” will appear and count down to zero. At the end of the countdown, an audible signal sounds and the text “READY” appears briefly on the display. The display then flashes “BLOW”, indicating that the user can start the test.
  4. At this point, insert the mouthpiece into your mouth and blow continuously for about 5 to 6 seconds. The “BLOW” light will be on steadily while you are blowing. If blowing is not detected during the “READY” mode, the instrument will display “Err” and a red backlight.
  5. Stop blowing after the double beep. The device will now start the analysis, which is indicated by flashing the text “READING” on the display.
  6. The display will show the measured value, e.g. 0.203 ‰BAC
    •  if the measured value is below 0.200 ‰, the display will show 0.000 ‰ or 0.100 ‰ breath alcohol
    •  if the device measures a value between 0.200 ‰ and 3.000 ‰ breath alcohol, the display will show the measured value
    • a preset value of 0.200 ‰ will alert you if you exceed the tolerance limit for driving by activating the background display
    • when the value of 3.000 ‰ breath alcohol is exceeded, the texts “3.000” and “NO DRIVING” will flash on the display.
  7. To take a new measurement, press the power button again.
  8.  After four consecutive measurements, leave the instrument at rest for 2 minutes.
  9. Press the power button for 2 seconds to switch the device off. The device will automatically switch off after approximately 60 secondsSOLIGHT 1T04A Breath Analyzer 3

Memory
The instrument stores the last 20 measurement results in memory. To view and switch between the results in memory, press the Memory button repeatedly. To clear the results from memory, remove the batteries for 5 seconds.
Setting units and alert levels

  1.  Remove the batteries. Then press and hold the power button while inserting the batteries back into the device. Keep the button pressed until the display shows the alert level and unit on the blue backlight display, see illustration. Then release the power button.
  2.  Then press the power button again to change the units: ‰ BAC, % BAC, mg/L
  3. The memory button allows you to change the value of the alert level 0.1; 0.2; 0.3; 0.5; 0.8, 1.0.
  4.  Press and hold the memory button for 2 seconds to save the settings, which is confirmed by the SAVE message.
  5. The system switches to test mode and starts a 40 second countdown.

Notes

  1. To achieve the most accurate results, we recommend cleaning the test chamber as thoroughly as possible from previous testing, especially in the case of repeated measurement cycles. This can be done by shaking the instrument in your hand so that clean air goes into the blow tube. Perfect cleaning can be achieved with a stream of fresh air – e.g. with a fan.
  2. When the batteries are low, the battery icon flashes. In this case, replace the batteries immediately with new ones.
  3. If the instrument has not been used for a long time, the results of the first two tests may differ from the actual values. If the difference between the two measurements is greater than 0.3 ‰, you should take another measurement.
  4. When blowing into the unit, do not block the air outlet of the unit. This will cause inaccurate measurements.

Storage and use

  1. Store the instrument in a dry environment free of chlorine or corrosive gases.
  2. Under normal conditions, the lifetime of a solid-state sensor is longer than 2 years.
  3. Do not drop the device on the ground or expose it to shock or vibration. In the event of damage from a fall, the device is virtually unrepairable.
  4. Use a dry cloth for cleaning and do not use abrasives or solvents.
  5. The instrument should be recalibrated every 12 months or the sensor module should be replaced.

This breath analyzer should only be used as a general guide to determine the level of alcohol in the body. A number of factors can affect breath alcohol levels (e.g. gases in the air, smoke, mouth odours etc.). Therefore, the measured values are only approximate. The result of the test should not be interpreted as an unquestionable basis for determining the safe ability to drive, operate equipment or perform other hazardous activities. Neither the seller nor the manufacturer assumes any liability arising from the use of this device. DO NOT CONSUME ALCOHOL BEFORE DRIVING! Specifications are subject to change without notice!
