• It is recommended that the DAB band be used wherever possible as better results in terms of quality and freedom from interference will usually be obtained than on the FM band.
STEP 1 – Plugin & play the radio
A – Connect to the mains
Please read the safety leaflet provided before connecting your sound system to the mains.

Place your sound system on a flat surface.
Fully extend the telescopic aerial located on the rear of the unit.
Plug the mains lead into the mains socket located on the rear of the unit. Plug the mains lead into a wall socket and switch on the socket.
A start-up screen will be displayed and a station scan will be performed.
When a signal has been found, the current time and date will appear on the display. Note: If no signals are found it may be necessary to relocate your sound system to a position giving better reception and carry out a scan for new stations.

B – Switch on your sound system

Press and release the On/Standby button to switch on the sound system.
After each use the sound system will remember the mode used and then switch on in that mode the next time it is used.
• To switch your sound system to standby, press and release the On/Standby button.
If this is the first time the sound system is used a scan of the Band III DAB channels will be carried out.

C – Select a DAB radio station

If needed, press and release the Mode button until the DAB mode is selected.
Rotate the Tuning control to step through the list of available DAB stations.
Press the Tuning control to select the station. Adjust the Volume using the volume control.
Press the Info button to cycle through the various display options.
• The display options are, scrolling text, program type, multiplex name, channel and frequency, signal strength/error rate, bit rate, audio type and date.

D – Scan for DAB stations
As time passes new stations may become available or you may have moved to a different part of the country.

Press and release the Mode button until DAB is selected.
Press the Menu button.
Rotate the Tuning control and select ‘Scan’.
Press Tuning. Your sound system will perform a scan of the Band III DAB channels. As new stations are found, they will be added to the list stored in the sound system.

E – Search tuning – FM

Fully extend the telescopic aerial.
Press and release the Mode button until FM is selected.
Rotate the Tuning control clockwise or anti-clockwise and press the control. Your sound system will scan upwards (low to high frequency) or downwards (high to low frequency) and will stop automatically when it finds a station of sufficient strength. Alternatively, press the Scan up or Scan down buttons to scan the waveband.
If the signal is strong enough and there is RDS data present then the radio will display the station name.
• Press the Info button to cycle through the various display options The display options are scrolling text, program type, frequency, audio type and date.

STEP 2 – Connect Bluetooth
Connecting Bluetooth devices

Ensure Bluetooth is enabled on your smart device.
Switch on your sound system. Press and release the Mode button until the Bluetooth mode is selected. The Bluetooth indicator will flash blue and your sound system will show that it is ‘discoverable’. ‘Looking for Device’ will be displayed.
On your smart device select ‘BLUTUNE 300’. Once the connection is established the indicator will remain steady. You may now play your music.
The audio player in your phone, tablet or PC may be able to respond to the Play/Pause, Next or Previous track buttons on the sound system. Note: Not all player applications or devices may respond to all of these buttons. Adjust the volume on your sound system and on the connected device. If you find the volume from the sound system is not sufficient, it may be that the volume setting of the connected device needs to be increased.
To connect a different device apply a long press on the Bluetooth Pair button (on the unit) or apply a long press on the Select button (remote control). Your sound system will become discoverable by other devices. Alternatively, press Menu and then choose ‘Disconnect’ and then ‘Yes’. To remove all Bluetooth pairings choose ‘Clear Pairing’ and then ‘Yes’.

STEP 3 – Playing CD
Your sound system can play back CD-DA format audio CD-R/CD-RW discs. Your sound system may fail to playback some CD-R/CD-RW discs due to poor recording and wide variation in the quality of the CD-R/ CD-RW discs. Use only full-size CDs (12cm diameter). Mini CDs (8cm diameter) are not compatible with the player and may jam the CD mechanism. Transparent or partly transparent CDs cannot be played since they may not be detected when inserted. Thin (Eco) CDs cannot be played. Some copy-protected CDs may not be playable. The Blutune 300 is able to play CD-R and CD-RW discs containing MP3 and WMA files.

Inserting a CD

Ensure the CD player is empty before inserting a disc. If you cannot insert a disc, press the CD Eject button to remove the CD currently in the sound system.

Press the Mode button until ‘CD’ shows on the display or insert an audio CD.
Insert a disc with a printed side facing up into the CD slot. The disc will be loaded automatically. The unit will check the CD type and load its track list. The display will show ‘Reading’.
To eject or reload a CD, press the CD Stop/Eject button. If the CD is playing you will need to press the CD Stop/Eject button to stop the CD and then press it again to eject the CD.

Play CD / CD MP3 / WMA discs

Press the Play/Pause button to start playing the disc if needed.
Adjust the volume.
To pause or continue playback, press the Play/Pause button.
To stop playback press the CD Stop/Eject button.
Note: If you put the unit into standby mode then the next time it is switched on, it will return to the previously played track.

Selecting a track

While the CD is playing or paused select a track by pressing the Previous or Next buttons. If needed, press Play/Pause.
While the CD is playing, apply a long press on the Previous or Next buttons to search to the desired part of a track.
When playing an MP3 / WMA disc you can skip to another folder using the Folder Up or Down buttons on the remote control.

Repeat / Shuffle

1 To access the repeat and shuffle options whilst the CD is playing press the Repeat/Shuffle button repeatedly (on the remote control) to select an option. Alternatively, press the Menu button and select the desired option.

STEP 4 – Navigating your sound system

A short press will cancel an active alarm.
A long press will access the sleep timer when the unit is playing.

A short press will access each operating mode in turn.
Repeatedly press to change the alarm status when the unit is in standby.
A long press will access the alarm settings when the unit is in standby.
Alternatively, alarms can be accessed using the system settings menu.
A short press will access the current menu system when the unit is playing.
Press the Menu / Back button to go back to a higher level menu or if an error is made.
Rotate the control clockwise or anti-clockwise to scroll menu items.
Press Menu Up / Next / Down or Previous buttons on the remote control to scroll menu items.
A short press on Tuning/Select or the Select button (remote control) will select highlighted menu items.
A short press on Tuning/Select or the Select button (remote control) will pause the alarm for the snooze period.
A short press will display information relating to the music being played.
A long press will change dimmer settings when the unit is playing.
A short press will change dimmer settings when the unit is in standby.

STEP 5 – Operating your sound system
Select music mode

Switch on your sound system.
Press and release the Mode button to access each of the operating modes in turn.
Alternatively, press Mode and rotate the Tuning control clockwise or anti-clockwise to highlight the desired menu item. Press the control to select that item.
Press Menu to access the full menu for the current operating mode.

DAB – Listen to DAB radio
FM radio – Listen to FM radio
Bluetooth – Stream music using your smart device
CD – Play music from CD
USB – Play music from a USB memory device
Auxiliary input – Connect to other devices
Note: If the unit is in the Bluetooth or auxiliary input stop mode position for more than 15 minutes it will automatically switch to standby. To use the radio again, simply press the On / Standby button.

When in DAB mode, press the Menu button. The DAB menu items include Recall Preset, Save Preset, Station List, Scan, Manual Tune, Prune Invalid, DRC, Station order, Slideshow (choose full screen or small image) and System Settings. **

When in FM mode, press the Menu button. The FM menu items include Recall Preset, Save Preset, Scan Setting, Audio Setting and System Settings. **

System settings

You can access your sound system’s ‘System settings’ from the current menu. The system settings include Sleep, Alarm, Equaliser, Time/Date, Backlight, InactiveStandby, Language, Factory Reset, Software Update, Software Version, and Loudness. **

USB Mode

The Blutune 300 has been tested with a range of USB memory devices up to 32GB. However, there are many different memory devices available and not all the USB devices can be guaranteed to work in the Blutune 300. Memory must use the FAT or FAT 32 filing system in order to operate in the Blutune 300.
Important: Your sound system is designed to work with USB flash memory devices. It is not intended to be connected to hard disk drives or any other type of USB device. Audio formats supported on USB memory devices are MP3 and WMA. The USB socket is located on the back of the unit. **
Carefully insert a USB memory device into the USB socket. The USB socket can also be used tocharge your smartphone, tablet or similar devices.

To select the USB mode, press the Mode button until ‘USB’ is selected.
Note: Playback control in USB mode is similar to CD-MP3/WMA mode (see overleaf). Files are played back in the order that they are written to the USB memory device by your computer except when the shuffle mode is used. Press the Info button to cycle through the various display options.
In order to minimize the risk of damage to your sound system, or USB memory device, please place the unit so that the device cannot be easily knocked while it is inserted in the socket. Remove the USB memory device before carrying the unit or if not using the USB feature for a prolonged period.
Note: The USB memory device should not be removed during playback as damage or corruption of files may occur.

Other information

Preset radio stations
There are 20 memory presets, 10 for DAB and 10 for FM. Presets are remembered in the event of a power failure.
To store a preset**

Tune to the required radio station.
Apply a long press on the Preset/Play/Pause button (on the unit) or Select button (remote control). ‘Save to Preset’ will be displayed.
Use the Tuning control or the Menu Up or Down buttons (remote control) to scroll to an unused preset or a preset you wish to change.
Press the Tuning/Select control or the Select button (remote control) to save the preset.

To recall a preset

Choose DAB or FM mode.
Press and release the Preset/Play/Pause button (on the unit) or Select button (remote control). ‘Preset Recall’ will be displayed.
Use the Tuning control or the Menu Up or Down buttons (remote control) to scroll to a desired preset. Press Tuning or the Select button (remote control) to select the preset.

Equalizer

The sound on your sound system can be adjusted to suit your personal taste for the material that you are listening to. The radio has six equaliser profiles. **

Press Menu. Choose ‘System Settings’, ‘Equaliser’ then choose from normal, classic, jazz, pop, rock or speech. Alternatively, press the Equaliser button on the remote control and use the Menu Up or Down buttons to select an option.
You may set the treble, mid and bass levels using the ‘My EQ Setup’ option.
To use your ‘My EQ’ profile choose ‘Equaliser’ then ‘My EQ’.

Remote control battery replacement

Please read the safety leaflet provided before using batteries.

Remove the battery cover on the rear of your remote control by applying pressure to the catch in the direction shown by the arrow and then lifting off the cover.
Insert 2 x AAA size batteries into the spaces in the compartment. Take care to ensure all batteries are inserted with the correct polarity as shown inside the battery compartment. Replace the battery cover.
If the sound system is not to be used for any extended period of time it is recommended that the batteries are removed from the remote control. Caution: Replace batteries only with the same or equivalent type. The danger of explosion if the batteries are incorrectly replaced.

In order to minimize its energy consumption when not in use, your sound system will go into standby if it detects that it is no longer being used.** By default this period is set to 8 hours but you may change it if you wish. Press Menu, choose ‘System settings’ then ‘Inactive Standby’, and then choose from 2, 4, 5, 6, 8 hours or Off. Your sound system will go on standby after the selected time has expired.

Wireless charging

1 To enable wireless charging ensure your sound system is plugged into the mains using the supplied mains lead.
2 Place your wireless charging enabled device over the charging icon. Your device must have wireless charging to use this function.
3 Your device will start charging, the charging indicator will show on the screen. Charging will be faster when your unit is in standby. If the charging indicator flashes it will have detected a nonwireless charging device.
Indicator: Flashes – poor connection, Off – no connection Solid – connected.
• Charging time will depend on your device. Standby – 15W, On – 5W.

System reset

If you wish to completely reset your sound system to its initial state perform a factory reset. Press Menu. Choose ‘System Settings’, ‘Factory Reset’ then ‘YES’. All user-entered settings will be erased.
