KAYOBA 004433 Skating Helmet Instruction Manual

SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

  • Helmet for pedal cyclists, skateboarders or roller skaters.
  • The helmet is not intended and does not provide adequate protection for motor sports, riding a moped, or other vehicles.
  • To provide full protection the helmet must be properly fitted and the straps and clasps must be correctly tensioned and fastened.
  • No helmet can provide full protection from head injuries. Accidents at low speed can also lead to serious or fatal head injuries, depending on the force of impact.
  • The helmet is designed to absorb the force of impact, either by deformation and/or destruction. Even if there is no visible damage after a fall the helmet should be immediately discarded and replaced with a new one.
  • Do not expose the helmet to heat. The helmet will be damaged if exposed to temperatures over 65°C. This temperature can be exceeded in dark vehicles and storage cases during very hot weather. Heat deforms helmets and blisters the surface structure. Discard a damaged helmet immediately and replace it with a new one.
  • Do not modify the helmet or remove any of the original parts, unless this is specifically recommended by the manufacturer.
  • The helmet must not be adapted, or fitted with accessories not recommended by the manufacturer.
  • Solvents, paint and/or stickers can damage the helmet and prevent it from providing proper protection during an accident.
  • Exercise due care and attention during all activities that involve using the helmet, and read the instructions carefully before use.

WARNING!

This helmet should not be used by children while climbing or doing other activities when there is a risk of strangulation/hanging if the child gets trapped with the helmet.

USE

ADJUSTING

The helmet must be well adjusted to provide full protection. The helmet is properly adjusted when it does not move forward, backwards or sideways when fastened. If the helmet can be wobbled forward or backwards the straps, and if necessary the clasp on the back, must be adjusted.

NOTE:

  • Check the adjustment of the helmet every time it is used.
  • It should not be possible to take off the helmet without unfastening the clasp.
  • The straps should be adjusted so that they do not cover the ears and so that the clasp is turned away from the chin.
  • If the helmet cannot be adjusted to suit the user, use another helmet.

Straps and clasp

The helmet has a clasp that is easy to fasten and unfasten without adjusting. The straps must be evenly tensioned.

  1. Put the helmet firmly on the head and fasten the clasp.
  2. Adjust the clasp on the back so that the helmet fits comfortably (sufficiently tight) round the head. Turn clockwise to tighten, and anticlockwise to loosen the clasp.
  3. Note which straps are loose. Take off the helmet and shorten the straps to fit.
    • To shorten the chin strap, hold the clasp in one hand. Then pull the strap through the clasp.
    • To shorten the back strap, pull out the strap from the back of strap 2. Hold the helmet in one hand. Hold the other hand in the straps where they pass under the chin. Pull from side to side to adjust all four straps evenly sideways.
  4. The helmet should sit straight and firmly on the head.
    • To put the helmet lower down over the forehead, shorten the chin strap and extend the back strap.
    • To put the helmet higher up over the forehead, extend the chin strap and shorten the back strap.

FINAL CHECK

Check the tension of the straps by putting the helmet on the head and fastening the clasp. Open the mouth wide, the strap should feel tight against the chin. Try to lift the helmet at the front and back. If the helmet can be lifted shorten the corresponding strap. It should not be possible to move the helmet too far forwards or backwards.
