Eaton xChargeIn Home
Quick Start Guide
Prior to installation, it is required to download
(www.eaton.com/xchargeinhome),
read, understand step-by-step instructions from the latest installation
manual.
Never turn on any equipment when there is evidence of fire or structural
damage.
xChargeIn Home must be installed only by professional installers.
During installation, unplug xChargeIn Home. Read and understand the safety
warnings prior to installation.
Preparation and Mounting phases
Instructions
- xChargeIn Home is intended for indoor or outdoor installation.
- The optimal operation of the unit is in the temperature range -25 °C to +45 °C.
- The xChargeIn Home must be transported and stored in indoor locations in the temperature range -25 °C to +45 °C.
- The xChargeIn Home must be used in locations free from acids, gases, or other corrosive substances.
- The xChargeIn Home must be used and stored in locations with relative humidity below 95 %.
- The xChargeIn Home must be transported in locations with relative humidity below 95 %.
- The xChargeIn Home must be used at a maximum altitude of 2000 m above sea level.
The xChargeIn Home box must contain the following parts:
- The xChargeIn Home charging station,
- Quick start guide,
- Safety guidelines,
- The plug hanger for Type 2 or Type 1,
- The cover for the plug is Type 2 or Type 1.

Positioning the xChargeIn Home
- Install the xChargeIn Home in such a way as to ensure easy access to the controls and to the connections.
- The surface of the wall where the xChargeIn Home will be installed must withstand its weight (max 6.7 kg).
- The unit must be used at a maximum altitude of 2000 m above sea level.
- It should be fixed at a height of 150 cm from ground level, for optimal accessibility.
- The power input electrical cable and the internet connection cable are introduced below the charging station. The cables should have a 50 cm service loop length (Figure 1).
- Fix the charging station to the wall with 4 screws Ø6 mm, 150 mm, and 138 mm apart as is shown in the figure below (Figure 1).
- The power input electrical cable is introduced from the bottom left side of the charging station. The cables should have a 50 cm service loop length (Figure 1).
- Please note that the appropriate types of plastic plugs and screws must be selected by a professional installer, based on the location of installation and the type of wall on which the system is to be mounted.

Electrical connections and unit switch-on
Standard wiring
- Each charging station must be connected via a separate RCD (Residual Current Device / fault-current circuit breaker). No other consumers may be connected to this circuit (Figure 2).
- The circuit breakers and the power cable minimal cross-sections are overvalued in order to ensure the functionality of the charging station with higher temperatures. Please refer to the installation manual and local standards for further details.
Electrical connection and terminals
- The electrical cable can reach the terminals from the top or from the bottom. Please refer to the appropriate section of the installation manual to open the xChargeIn Home housing.
- The power input electrical cable can be inserted from the bottom-left side of the charging station. Remove the cable glands, if necessary.
- The electrical connection is made on the power supply terminals located at the bottom-right of the charger (Figure 3).
- In the case of three phases, connect the phase (L1, L2, L3), neutral (N), and earth (PE) wires of the AC terminals to the GRID terminal block respecting the correct assignment (Figure 3).
- In the case of a single-phase, connect the phase (L1), neutral (N), and earth (PE) wires of the AC terminals to the GRID terminal block respecting the correct assignment (Figure 3).

- It is prohibited to connect the unit terminals to a circuit with an IT grid configuration.
Unit switch-on
- Check that the equipment is correctly fixed to the wall in accordance with local regulations.
- Check that the AC GRID connections have been made correctly in accordance with local regulations.
- Perform the checks on continuity of the connections of the protective conductor, insulation resistance, RCD triggering current, triggering time, etc., in accordance with local regulations.
- Verify that the connection cover is closed and secured with the fixing screws.
- If the checks listed above were successful, proceed as follows:
• Turn on the external main AC line switch.
• Turn on the AC GRID circuit breakers.
• Wait for the LED button to turn on.
• The charging station is ready to charge as the LED start button is a green light on (Figure 4).
