- Follow the above safety precautions carefully to avoid serious burn injuries which may result if breakage occurs while the Carafe holds heated liquids.

How to Make Coffee
Before first use: Wash all removable parts in hot, soapy water, Rinse and dry, Brew one cycle with water and discard water, Burn Hazard, If filter basket overflow occurs, unplug the coffee maker and allow coffee in the filter basket 10 cool before removing filter basket. To avoid hot coffee overflowing from the filter basket:
- When using decaffeinated coffee, do not exceed the coffee manufacturer’s recommended serving amount.
- The carafe must be replaced within 20 seconds of being removed to prevent overflow.
- Electrical Shock Hazard.
Do not immerse the cord, plug, or coffee maker in any liquid.

Lift lid. Move Swivel Showerhead over Water Reservoir and remove the Filter Basket,

Place a cupcake-style paper filter in Filter Basket. A Permanent Filter may also be used.

For each cup of coffee being made, place one level tablespoon (15 ml) of coffee into the filter,

Fill the Carafe with the desired amount of water, Add water to Water Reservoir,
-
Add Filter Basket and lower Lid, The Swivel Showerhead will go back into place when you lower the lid,
-
Place the Carafe, with the carafe lid attached, on Keep-Warm Plate. For Thermal Carafe Models:

Plug into an outlet.
-
Press the BREW OPTIONS button until the desired option is selected: Regular, Bold, or 1-4 Cups, if brewing a smaller amount of coffee.
-
Press the 1/0 (ON/OFF) button to start.
-
PAUSE ANO SERVE: To serve coffee during the brewing cycle, remove Carafe and pour a cup, Do not pause longer than 20 seconds. By removing
Carafe, the flow of coffee from the bottom of Filter Basket will stop, -
Press the 1/0 (ON/OFF) button when finished, Unplugged,
NOTE: If the Coffee Maker has a glass Carafe and is not turned off manually, it will automatically shut off in 2 hours
How to Program
- Press H (hour) and then M (minute) to set the clock,
- While holding the PROG (program) button, press H and M until the desired brewing start time is reached
- Press and release the PROG button for less than 1 second to set Coffee Maker to come on automatically at the desired time. Press PROG again to cancel the automatic brew.
Best-Tasting Coffee Tips
- All coffees are made from either arabica beans or robusta beans, or some combination of both, Arabica beans are slightly more expensive but tend to produce better-tasting coffee.
- Ground coffee will become stale much faster than whole beans, If buying preground coffee, choose a package with the latest expiration date or a smeller quantity,
- If grinding whole beans, set your coffee grinder on a fine/medium grind. This will yield the best-tasting grounds, Try 10 use freshly ground coffee within
- Using a water filter, filtered water, or bottled water wilt yield better-tasting coffee than tap water.
- Use approximately 1 tablespoon (15 ml) of grounds for each cup of coffee being made, To avoid overflow, use slightly less grounds (3/4 tablespoon [11 ml)) when brewing decaf or flavored coffees. Also, be aware that using coffee that is ground too finely may also cause the filter basket to overflow.

Care and Cleaning
Electrical Shock Hazard. Do not immerse the cord, plug, or coffee maker in any liquid. To remove mineral deposits and buildup: All coffee makers should be cleaned at least once a month (once a week for areas with hard water).
- Remove Optional Water Filter,
- Pour 1 pint (2 cups [473 mils) white vinegar into the water reservoir.
- Press the 1/0 (ON/OFF) button to begin the brew cycle. Press 1/0 again after 30 seconds and wait 30 minutes, Press I/ 0 button again, then press once more when finished,
- Run 2-3 more brew cycles with clean water only. Allow cooling between cycles.
- Carafe and Removable Filter Basket are top-rack dishwasher-safe. Unplug and wipe the outside of the Coffee Maker with a damp cloth and dry
Troubleshooting
Filter Basket overflows or coffee brews slowly.
- A bold setting allows for slower brewing to optimize a bold coffee flavor.
- Excessive amounts of ground coffee, Decaffeinated and/or coffee ground too finely can cause overflow. Use slightly less ground when brewing decaffeinated, flavored, or finely ground coffee. Or, use medium ground coffee.
- The coffee Maker needs cleaning,
- Coffee tastes bad.
- The coffee Maker needs cleaning,
- Coffee ground too coarsely or too finely. Use medium-ground coffee,
- Coffee-to-water ratio is unbalanced, Adjust for personal preference.
- Coffee, not brewing/unit will not turn on,
- Water Reservoir is empty.
- The unit is unplugged.
- Power outage,
- Coffee grounds between paper filter and filter basket,
- Paper filter not open and in proper position.
- Rinse filter basket before insetting the paper filter so edges will remain pressed against sides of the basket.
- Poor quality paper filter,
- Poor coffee quality and freshness,
- Poor water quality. Use filtered or bottled water,
- Power surge. Unplug; then plug back in.
- Clock requires reset after power outage.
Limited Warranty
This warranty applies to products purchased and used in the U.S. and Canada. This is the only express warranty for this product and is in lieu of any other warranty or condition.
