INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

  • Step 1. Locate your service manual that came with your heater. To properly service your heater, follow the instructions in your service manual.

  • Step 2. Follow the instructions in your service manual, remove the outer cabinet of your heater. Remove the fuel tank (if removable) and any batteries.

  • Step 3. Following the instructions in your service manual, remove the wick holder (also known as the wick sleeve, wick adjuster, or wick assembly) from the heater. Remove the old wick. Then, check to make sure that the wick adjuster knob (also known as the wick or flame control knob) is at its lowest possible position.

  • Step 4. Install the new wick in the wick holder by placing the upper edge of the wick holder even with the appropriate set line. See Figure A.

  • Step 5. When placing the new wick into the holder be sure all of the teeth on the wick holder are securely inserted into the wick. See Figure B.

  • Step 6. Following the instructions in your service manual, install the wick holder (also known as the wick sleeve, wick adjuster or wick assembly) back in you heater.

  • Step 7. Turn the wick control knob fully clockwise (so wick is at its highest possible position). Refer To the Wick Reference Chart to determine the height that the wick should protrude above the shoulder of the adjuster. See Figure C.

Using a ruler (or the “cut out” measuring device) check the wick height. If the wick height is more or less than what is specified, or if the wick does not move smoothly and easily, disassemble and repeat steps 3 through 8.

  • Step 8. Following the instructions in your manual, reassemble your heater.
  • Step 9. Wait at least 60 minutes before lighting your heater.

IMPORTANT: If poor quality kerosene is used, a rapid accumulation of carbon and tar is likely. This may cause a strong odor and will destroy even a new wick. Additional heater damage may occur as the wick becomes more difficult to adjust. The use of improper fuel, old kerosene or kerosene contaminated with water can cause soot, carbon buildup, odor, low flame, uneven burning or make the flame difficult to extinguish. Always make sure that the flame in your heater is fully extinguished.

NOTE: The following wick replacement instructions are to only serve as a guide for installing this replacement wick.

You should never install a wick without referring to the instructions manual that came with your heater.
