INTRODUCTION
The TRUBLU LoPro Welding Mask provides 5 to 13 shade protection for your eyes
while the faceplate stops welding spatters and ultraviolet and infrared
radiation. The grind function can be activated or deactivated without removing
the goggles.
There is room under the welding mask to fit a standard half-welding mask
respirator. The faceplate can be removed.
SAFETY
WARNING! Read and understand all instructions before using this tool. The
operator must follow basic precautions to reduce the risk of personal injury
and/or damage to the equipment.
Keep this manual for safety warnings, precautions, operating or inspection and
maintenance instructions.
WORK AREA
- Operate in a safe work environment. Keep your work area clean, well-lit and free of distractions. Place lights so you are not working in a shadow.
- Keep anyone not wearing the appropriate safety equipment away from the work area.
- Store tools properly in a safe and dry location. Keep tools out of the reach of children.
PERSONAL SAFETY
WARNING! Wear personal protective equipment approved by the Canadian Standards Association (CSA) or American National Standards Institute (ANSI).
- Wear gloves that provide protection based on the work materials or to reduce the effects of tool vibration.
- Wear protective clothing designed for the work environment and tool.
- Control the tool, personal movement and the work environment to avoid personal injury or damage to the tool.
- Do not operate any tool when tired or under the influence of drugs, alcohol or medications.
SPECIFIC SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
WARNING! DO NOT let comfort or familiarity with product (gained from repeated
use) replace strict adherence to the tool safety rules. If you use this tool
unsafely or incorrectly, you can suffer serious personal injury.
WARNING! The welding mask does not protect against severe impact hazards,
explosions or corrosive liquids. Machine guards or eye splash protection must
be used when these hazards are present.
WARNING! Using filter forms from any other manufacturer’s welding mask can
seriously impaired the protection provided and may result in serious personal
injury.
- Use the correct tool for the job. This welding mask was designed for a specific function. Do not modify or alter this welding mask or use it for an unintended purpose.
- Do not use the tool if any parts are damaged, broken or misplaced. Repair or replace the parts.
- This welding mask is not recommended for overhead welding applications, laser welding or laser cutting applications.
- In the event of electronic failure, the filter remains dark at Shade 15 to protect against UV and IR radiation.
- Use the auto-darkening welding filter with inner and outer cover lenses. Never open or tamper with the filter cartridge.
- Ensure the front cover lens is mounted before use. Remove the protective film.
- Ensure that the lens is clean and there is no dirt or spatter covering the four sensors at the front of the filter cartridge.
- Inspect all parts for signs of wear or damage. Any scratched or cracked parts should be replaced prior to use.
- Never place the welding mask on a hot surface.
- Arc rays can burn both eyes and skin. Arc welding produces intense visible and invisible (ultraviolet and infrared) rays. Wear a welding mask fitted with the proper shade to protect your face and eyes when welding or watching.
- Check whether welding or grinding mode is chosen before use.
- The reaction of the filter’s liquid crystal will be slower if the ambient temperature is low, but it will not affect protective functions.
- Replace the protective lenses immediately if broken or scratched. The damage will obscure vision and reduce the filter’s protective performance.
- The welding hood included in this kit is flame-retardant. This welding hood does not provide protection against molten metals.
UNPACKING
WARNING! Do not operate the tool if any part is missing. Replace the missing

ASSEMBLY & INSTALLATION
Letter references in parenthesis (A) refer to the included Identification Key.
The welding mask is preassembled. Remove the protective film from both lenses
before use.
SWITCHING HEADBANDS
The welding mask has two headbands: plastic (F) and elastic (G). Switch out
the headbands by pushing on the headband’s lock catch until it pops off.
Repeat on the other side.
Push the lock catch against the locks on each side of the goggles (Fig. 3)
until they snap into place.
ADJUST THE WELDING MASK FIT (PLASTIC HEADBAND)
The headband should be adjusted both in diameter and height.
- Adjust the headband diameter with the adjusting knob on the headband. Twist clockwise to tighten and counterclockwise to loosen.
- Adjust the headband height by releasing the segmental positioning plate and changing the top strap hole.
ATTACH THE LED LIGHT
- Place the light’s base in front of the face plate’s bracket.
- Align the bracket’s tabs with the base’s slots.
- Push the light backwards until it touches the bracket’s backstop.
- Remove the light by pulling it forward until it is free of the bracket.
OPERATION
WARNING! Do not weld if the orange light inside the goggles is flashing. This is the Grind mode indicator and you can suffer eye or retina damage, as the lens will not darken when the welding arc forms.
BEFORE WELDING
- Ensure that the internal and external protective films are removed from the lenses.
- Check that the batteries have sufficient power to operate the welding mask.
- Check that the arc sensors are clean and not blocked by dust or debris.
- Check for head band tightness before each use.
WELDING MASK SETTINGS
The control panel is on the left side of the googles, with the exception of the GRIND button, which is on the right side of the goggles.
- Press the MODE button to cycle through the four modes: Weld (5-9), Weld (9-13), Grind and Cut. The icons and numbers shown on the LCD screen depends on which mode is selected.
- Once a mode is selected, press the SHADE, SENS. or DELAY button once to activate that setting. The icon will begin flashing.
- Continue to press the button to cycle through the setting levels.
- The icon will stop flashing after a few seconds, indicating the setting is complete.
SHADE NUMBER SELECTION
- Determine what DIN Shade number is needed for the task (see Appendix A).
- Select to the weld mode that has the correct range, either Shade 9-5 (M) or 9-13 (N). The weld icon (L) will also be visible (Fig. 4).
- Press the SHADE button once to activate the setting and then press it again until the correct shade number (Q) is displayed. It will only cycle through the number in the selected range.
DELAY TIME
Delay time refers to the time the cartridge filter is set to change from the
dark to bright state after welding stops. The delay can be adjusted up to a
0.9 second delay.
A short delay is suitable for spot or short welds. This allows you to track
the progress of the weld. A long delay is better suited for heavy welding when
there is an afterglow.
- Select the weld mode, then press the DELAY button until the delay icon (P) flashes.
- Each press of the DELAY button will add a bar to the delay time. Each bar increases the delay by 0.2 seconds starting from 0.1 to 0.9 seconds.
SENSITIVITY
Sensitivity is the reaction time between the welding arc’s formation and when
the lens darkens.
Low Setting (0.1) Suitable for high amperage welding and welding in areas with
high levels of natural sunlight.
Medium Setting (0.5) Suitable for most indoors and outdoors welding.
High Setting (0.9) Suitable for low amperage welding and welding in areas with
low light conditions, especially for low amperage argon-arc welding.
- Select the weld mode, then press the SENS. button until the sensitivity icon (O) flashes.
- Each press of the SENS. button will add a bar to the sensitivity. Each bar increases the sensitivity by 0.2 seconds starting from 0.1 to 0.9 seconds.
CUT MODE
WARNING! Do not use these goggles if the cutting task requires a DIN shade higher than Shade 9. A bright cutting arc can cause eye or retina damage if the Shade protection is inadequate.
-
Determine what DIN Shade number is needed for the task.
-
Press the MODE button until the Cut icon (R) appears in the LCD. The DIN Shade 5-9 icon (M) will also appear
-
Press the SHADE button until the icon (Q) is flashing. Press the button to select the DIN shade.
GRINDING MODE
You can also use the welding mask to protect your face during grinding. This will prevent the filter cartridge from darkening when bright sparks are created.
