| Battery state of charge:
Press the button on the battery to check the state of charge at the state of
charge indicator LEDs.
The indicator goes out after 5 seconds.
If one of the LEDs flashes, the battery must be recharged. If none of the LEDs
light up after the button is pressed, the battery is faulty and must be
replaced.

PREFACE
Dear Customer!
This manual contains information and important instructions for the
installation and correct use of the ZIPPER Charger and Batteries ZI-LGR40V-
AKKU / ZI-BTR40V-AKKU / ZI-BTR40V2AH-AKKU.
Following the usual commercial name of the product (see cover) is substituted
in this manual with the name “product”.
This manual is part of the product and shall not be stored separately from the product. Save it for later reference and if you let other people use the product, add this instruction manual to the product.
Please read and obey the security instructions!
Due to constant advancements in product design, construction pictures and content may diverse slightly. However, if you discover any errors, inform us please.
Technical specifications are subject to changes!
Please check the product contents immediately after receipt for any eventual transport damage or missing parts.
Claims from transport damage or missing parts must be placed immediately after initial product receipt and unpacking before putting the product into operation.
Please understand that later claims cannot be accepted anymore.

For your own safety, read these operating instructions carefully before putting the product into operation. This will enable you to handle the product safely and prevent misunderstandings as well as possible damage to property and persons. Also observe the symbols and pictograms used as well as the safety instructions and hazard warnings!
Intended use of the product
The product is intended exclusively for the following activities:
ZI-LGR40V-AKKU: for charging batteries of the types ZI-BTR40V-AKKU and ZI-
BTR40V2AH-AKKU ZI-BTR40V-AKKU and ZI-BTR40V2AH-AKKU for operating our battery-
powered machines
(ZI-CRM40V-AKKU, ZI-HET40V-AKKU, ZI-HST40V-AKKU, ZI-LBR40V-AKKU; ZI-HEK40V-
AKKU; ZI-KTS40V-AKKU, ZI-EBM40V-AKKU, ZI-RTR40V-AKKU)
ZIPPER-MASCHINEN assumes no responsibility or warranty for any other use or
use beyond this and for any resulting damage to property or injury.

The prohibited/hazardous use or disregard of the information and instructions presented in this manual will result in the voiding of all warranty and damage claims against ZIPPER Maschinen GmbH.
User Qualification
Prerequisite for the use / operation of the product is a corresponding physical and mental aptitude as well as knowledge and understanding of the instruction Manual.
Please note that local laws and regulations may determine the minimum age of
the operator and restrict the use of this product!
Put on your personal protective equipment before working on the product.
Work on electrical components or equipment may only be carried out by a
qualified electrician or carried out under the guidance and supervision of a
qualified Electrician.
Safety instructions for the battery charger
In order to avoid malfunctions, damage and health hazards when working with this product, in addition to the general rules for safe working, the following measures in particular must be observed UNCONDITIONALLY
- Keep the battery charger away from rain or moisture. Penetration of water in the battery charger increases the risk of an electric shock.
- Keep the battery charger clean. Contamination can lead to danger of an electric shock.
- Before each use, check the battery charger, cable and plug. If damage is detected, do not use the battery charger. Never open the battery charger yourself. Have repairs performed only by a qualified technician and only using original spare parts. Damaged battery chargers, cables and plugs increase the risk of an electric shock.
- Do not place any objects on the battery charger and do not place the battery charger on soft surfaces. There is a risk of fire.
- Always check that the mains voltage matches the voltage indicated on the rating plate of the battery charger.
- Never use the charger if cable, plug or the product itself has been damaged by external influences. Take the charger to the nearest service centre.
- Never open the battery charger. If the battery charger is defective, take it to a service centre.
Safety instructions for Li-ion batteries
In order to avoid malfunctions, damage and health hazards when working with this product, in addition to the general rules for safe working, the following measures in particular must be observed UNCONDITIONALLY
- Do not open the battery. There is a risk of a short-circuit.
- Protect the battery from heat, e.g. from continuous exposure to sunlight, fire, water and humidity. There is a risk of explosion.
- In case of damage and improper use of the battery, vapours may be emitted. Ventilate the area and seek medical help in case of complaints. The vapours can irritate the respiratory system.
- Under abusive conditions, liquid may be ejected from the battery; avoid contact. If contact accidentally occurs, flush with water. If liquid contacts eyes, additionally seek medical help. Liquid ejected from the battery may cause irritation or burns.
- Use only original batteries with the voltage indicated on the rating plate of your electric power tool. If other batteries are used, e.g. imitations, reconditioned batteries or third-party products, there is a risk of injuries as well as damage caused by exploding batteries.
- The battery voltage must match the battery charging voltage of the battery charger. Otherwise there is a risk of fire and explosion.
- Recharge only with the charger specified by the manufacturer. A charger that is suitable for one type of battery pack may create a risk of fire when used with another battery pack.
- Pointed objects, such as nails or screwdrivers, or external forces may damage the battery. This may cause an internal short-circuit and the battery to burn, smoke, explode or overheat. For disposal, transport or storage, the battery must (plastic bag, box) or the contacts are packed must be taped.

Despite intended use, certain residual risks remain.Due to the design and construction of the product, hazardous situations may occur which are identified as follows in these operating instructions:

which, if not avoided, may result in property damage.
OPERATION
Please check the product contents immediately after receipt for any eventual transport damage or missing parts. Claims from transport damage or missing parts must be placed immediately after initial unit receipt and unpacking before putting the unit into operation. Please understand that later claims cannot be accepted anymore.
NOTICE
The batteries are not fully charged on delivery. Prior to initial operation,
charge the batteries fully. See user manual of the battery charger.
Operation instructions
WARNING
- Never charge batteries at temperatures below 0 °C or above 40 °C.
- Never charge batteries in environments with high humidity or ambient temperature.
- Do not cover the battery and charger during the charging process.
- Only use the charger for the batteries to be used.
Charging process
- Plug the power cord in the socket on the charger.
- Insert the mains plug.
- The LED is solid red.
- Insert battery into the charger as far as stop.
- The LED flashes green and the battery is charged.
- When the battery is fully charged, the LED lights green.
- To remove, press the release button (1.) and pull out the battery (2.).
- Pull out the mains plug.
Fault messages
If the LED flashes red after the battery is inserted into the charger, there is an fault with the battery or charger.
- The battery is too hot or too cold. The charging process starts when the battery reaches the charging temperature (0 °C…40 °C).
- If after some time the LED still flashes red: Remove battery from the charger. Check contacts at charger and battery for contamination and clean if necessary. Reinsert battery. The battery is faulty if the same display appears again. Replace battery or have it checked in a professional workshop.
- If this fault message is also displayed with a different battery, then there is a fault with the charger. Have the charger checked by a professional workshop.
NOTICE
- If the batteries are not used for a longer period of time, store them partially charged (optimum 60%) and in a well temperatured place (10-25°C).
- Recharge batteries after a longer storage period (1 year).
NOTE: Reduced operating times after recharging indicates that the battery is worn out. The battery must be replaced.
MAINTENANCE
Maintenance
WARNING
Disconnect the mains plug before all work is carried out.
NOTICE
Clean your product regularly after every usage – it prolongs the products
lifespan and is a pre-requisite for a safe working environment.
Repair jobs shall be performed by respectively trained professionals only.
The products do not require any maintenance. Regularly check that the warning and safety instructions are present on the product and that they are perfectly legible
Cleaning
- Remove dirt and dust from the housing with a paint brush or dry cloth.
- Keep the ventilation slits clean and dustfree.
Storage
- Store the charger in a dry and frost-free place (10-25 °C).
- Store the battery and the charger separately.
Disposal
Do not dispose the unit in residual waste. Contact your local authorities for information regarding the available disposal options. When you buy at your local dealer for a replacement unit, the latter is obliged to exchange your old.
SPARE PARTS

With original ZIPPER spare parts you use parts that are attuned to each other shorten the installation time and elongate your products lifespan.
IMPORTANT
The installation of other than original spare parts voids the warranty!
So you always have to use original spare parts
When you place a spare parts order please use the service formula you can find
in the last chapter of this manual. Always take a note of the machine type,
spare parts number and part name. We recommend to copy the spare parts diagram
and mark the spare part you need. Or use the electronic ordering opportunity
via the spare parts catalogue or spare parts request form on our homepage

WARRANTY GUIDELINES
Warranty
Company ZIPPER Maschinen GmbH grants for mechanical and electrical components
a warranty period of 2 years for amateur use; and warranty period of 1 year
for professional use, starting with the purchase of the final consumer. In
case of defects during this period, which are not excluded by
paragraph 3, ZIPPER will repair or replace the machine at its own discretion.
Report
In order to check the legitimacy of warranty claims, the final consumer must contact his dealer. The dealer has to report in written form the occurred defect to ZIPPER. If the warranty claim is legitimate, ZIPPER will pick up the defective machine from the dealer. Returned shippings by dealers which have not been coordinated with ZIPPER, will not be accepted and refused.
Regulations
a) Warranty claims will only be accepted, when a copy of the original invoice
or cash voucher from the trading partner of ZIPPER is enclosed to the machine.
The warranty claim expires if the accessories belonging to the machine are
missing.
b) The warranty does not include free checking, maintenance, inspection or
service works on the machine. Defects due to incorrect usage of the final
consumer or his dealer will not be accepted as warranty claims either. Some
examples: usage of wrong fuel, frost damages in water tanks, leaving fuel in
the tank during the winter, etc.
c) Defects on wear parts are excluded, e.g. carbon brushes, collection bags,
knives, cylinders, cutting blades, clutches, sealings, wheels, saw blades,
splitting crosses, riving knives, riving knife extensions, hydraulic oils,
oil/air/fuel filters, chains, spark plugs, sliding blocks, etc.
d) Also excluded are damages on the machine caused by incorrect or
inappropriate usage, if it was used for a purpose which the machine is not
supposed to, ignoring the user manual, force majeure, repairs or technical
manipulations by not authorized workshops or by the customer himself, usage of
non-original ZIPPER spare parts or accessories.
e) After inspection by our qualified personnel, resulted costs (like freight
charges) and expenses for not legitimated warranty claims will be charged to
the final customer or dealer.
f) In case of defective machines outside the warranty period, we will only
repair after advance payment or dealer’s invoice according to the cost
estimate (incl. freight costs) of ZIPPER.
g) Warranty claims can only be granted for customers of an authorized ZIPPER
dealer who directly purchased the machine from ZIPPER. These claims are not
transferable in case of multiple sales of the machine.
Claims for compensation and other liabilities
because of poor performance, lacks, damages or loss of earnings due to defects during the warranty period will not be accepted. ZIPPER insists on its right to subsequent improvement of the machine.

We monitor the quality of our delivered products in the frame of a Quality
Management policy.
