Instructions for Installation and Care of John Deere Gator HPX-XUV Full
Cab Enclosure fits Lexan Windshield
JD-XUV-FC05
Notice: Do not smoke inside the cab or expose the enclosure to direct
flames. Cab is Flammable.
- Be sure to read these instructions thoroughly before opening and installing the John Deere Gator Cab Enclosure. The installation is best done when the temperature is 70 degrees F. or warmer. This is to help the adhesive Velcro adhere to the roll cage. If installation must be done in colder temps it helps to warm the Velcro at room temperature first.
- Carefully open the carton and remove the rolled up Cab Enclosure on a large flat surface that is clean and free of dirt or other material that may soil or scratch the windows of the Cab.
- It will help to raise the bed prior to installing the cab enclosure
- Check over the parts included in the carton with the parts list shown below:
- Velcro Hook strips:
- 12 each 3” long
- 2 each 5” long
- 2 each 10” long
- 1 each 21” long
- 1 each 50” long
- Snap studs 5 each (1 extra)
- Cab Enclosure 1 each
- Loosely drape the Cab Enclosure over the Gator roll cage. Be sure to pull it down and make sure that it is centered and fit to the door correctly before moving forward.
- Working your way to the rear of the roll cage carefully fit the Cab into position. Be sure to pull the lower edge of the rear panel down between the rear of the roll cage and the front of the dump bed. Apply the 21” Velcro Hook strip to the center of the metal bar between it and the plastic piece behind it. Pull the rear panel down and attach it to the Velcro, it is a tight squeeze so be sure to place as far down into the groove as possible. Note: you may need to unfasten the front nose piece to adjust the distance and attach the rear panel first then return to the front and pull the nose piece tight and reattach it to the brush guard.
- Center the Cab left to right on the roll cage and zip the doors closed. Once centered you can unzip the doors to install the remaining strips.
- Next attach the supplied 10” and 5” adhesive Velcro strips the bottom of the floorboard and the rear of the cab as shown in the photos below.
- The Velcro down the front of the door has a 24”and two 3” tabs and one double-sided Velcro strip sewn to the cab enclosure. These are to be attached to the roll cage under the windshield and need to be put on and installed before replacing the windshield.
- After you have the cab enclosure and the windshield re-installed take the small bent Lexan brace and attach it along the top of the windshield on the outside so that the cab is sandwiched between the brace and the windshield.
- Mark the desired locations for the stud snaps on the insides of the fenders. Then install the stud snaps to the Gator using only a #2 Phillips screwdriver. See photo on next page.
- To open and stow the doors, move the zipper fully rearward and fold the bottom portion of the doors up. Then begin to form a vertical roll with the door by rolling it inward from the front edge toward the rear of the door. Secure in place using the two hook and loop straps provided. Try to form a roll approximately 2” in diameter to assure that the door will not stick out very far while stowed.
Cleaning and Storage Recommendations
- Before removing the Falcon Ridge Cab for storage, make sure it is very clean in order to prevent scratching of the window panels. Clean with a soft rag or sponge using a mild liquid detergent soap and warm water solution. Never rub the windows with a dry cloth or rag! Let the Cab dry thoroughly before attempting to roll for storage.
- It is important that the Cab be rolled up for storage rather than folding. Folding will cause damage to the windows!!! Carefully roll up the Cab similar to the way it was when it was packed at the factory On a large, clean and flat surface, fold the doors over the rear panel first, then, interleave the top and windshield on top of the doors. Begin rolling the Cab into a roll approximately 8 inches in diameter. Put the rolled Cab back into the carton for storage at a normal room temperature. It is best not to expose the Cab to either extreme hot or cold temperatures when storing.
- A special cleaner conditioner is available from Falcon Ridge that will greatly increase the service life of the Cab Enclosure. In addition, if additional hook and loop sets are needed, they can also be ordered.
