INSTRUCTION

The Delimano Brava Nicer Dicer PRO contains the following parts:

  1. Cutting upper part (see: PICTURES, Pic.1)
  2. Support strips (see: PICTURES, Pic.1)
  3.  Sticker raster (see: PICTURES, Pic.1)
  4. Cutting insert (2 in pack; mini and small (4a)- 5x5mm + 10x10mm; medium and large (4b)- 15x15mm + 30x30mm) (see: PICTURES, Pic.1)
  5. The frame (see: PICTURES, Pic.1)
  6. Transparent collecting container (capacity: 800 ml)
  7. V- slicer insert + food holder (see: PICTURES, Pic.13)

Before use
Place the desired cutting insert with the corresponding pin block/ pin blocks (when cutting two different types of food at the same time) as described in the instructions. To achieve perfect results when slicing, observe the following
For 2-in-1 cutting inserts: To ensure optimum cutting of the cutting surfaces when slicing finely, make sure you are using in the right position marked with an arrow in picture 2 (see: PICTURES, Pic. 2). For large pieces or those to be cut in an upright position, press down lightly on the food, using the upper part for example, so that it cannot slip. If it is difficult to apply pressure to an ingredient, then it is NOT suitable for this method of cutting. Ingredients must be cut into small pieces to fit the cutting surface of the Delimano Brava Nicer Dicer before cutting. No more than ⅔ of the cutting surface should be covered, to allow sufficient spacing around all four sides of the cutting insert (see: PICTURES, Pic. 3).
Ingredients with skin, such as peppers, apples, or pears, must be positioned with the skin on top when laid on the blade (cut side on the cutting surface, see: PICTURES, Pic. 3). Please note that the cutting inserts are not intended to cut any hard food, such as carrots, squashes, or similar. Remove cores and stones before cutting apples, pears, peaches, apricots, etc. Remove the skin before cutting bananas, pineapples, melons, papaya, mangoes, etc
When used correctly, the upper part should be closed with a single stroke. Place your stronger hand on the outside of the upper part. Place your weaker hand in the center of the upper part. Then press downwards firmly in a single stroke.
If the upper part does not descend completely in one stroke, DO NOT exert any further force – this may damage the device. Check to see if the ingredient has slipped on the cutting insert, which the ingredient was cut to the correct size for the cutting surface, and/ or the pin block was correctly inserted. If necessary, press down on the ingredients, e.g. using the upper part, cut the ingredient into smaller pieces or slices before cutting, and/ or correctly position the pin block. After making corrections, fully open the upper part and push down again with a powerful single stroke (see: PICTURES, Pic.4). Please note that the cutting inserts are not intended to cut any hard food, such as carrots, squashes or similar.
Usage
NOTE: Always lay in the cutting insert so that the desired insert lies in the cutter position marked with an arrow in picture 2 (see: PICTURES, Pic.2)

** Lift up the cutting upper part to place the desired cutting insert inside. To do this, first, slide the cutting insert into the lower part so that the slightly- rounded narrow side of the cutting insert fits into the corresponding notch in the frame of the lower part. Now press down the other side of the cutting insert, until you hear a click (see: PICTURES, Pic.5).**

Place the food you want to cut onto the blades (cutter position marked with an arrow in picture 2; see: PICTURES, Pic.2). For cutting large pieces, or pieces to be cut along their lengths, hold the food to be cut in position by one hand and gently press the cutting upper part downwards with the other hand, so that it cannot slip to one side (see: PICTURES, Pic.6).

Then, with a bold move, press the cutting upper part downwards with both hands. The food to be cut is pressed downwards with the raster through the blades in evenly-sized dices, sticks or quarters and automatically collected in the transparent collecting container (see: PICTURES, Pic.7).
To open the container and to remove the cut food, simply lift up the complete cutting lid (upper part and frame) on the narrow side and remove it. While doing so, hold the transparent container with the other hand. At the outside end of the cutting lower part, there is a recessed grip. This helps you to remove the cutting insert by lifting slightly (see: PICTURES, Pic.8).

Using the V-slicer insert: Place the slicer insert in the cutter base. The insert must click into place (see: PICTURES, Pic14).

Carefully remove the blade protector and pass the food over the V-shaped blade using rapid movements. Always use the food holder to prevent injuries (see: PICTURES, Pic15).
Cutting insert for mini and small dices and sticks (see: PICTURES, Pic.1 – 4a) is appropriate to cut:

  •  Shallots, garlic, pepperoni, chili peppers for dips such as salsa or as ingredients for soups
  •  Cold meats for cold meat salads or soufflés
  •  Cucumber, mushrooms, zucchini, potatoes, tomatoe
  • Potatoes – e.g. raw for French fries or cooked for potato salad
  • Bell peppers, onions, tomatoes, zucchini, leek, kohlrabi, celery sticks, radish, pumpkin, or mushrooms for salads, vegetable dishes or as ingredients in soups
  • Apples, pears, peaches, apricots, strawberries, or bananas, e.g. for fruit salads

Tips for use

  • Dip the cutting insert in water before you start to use it. Wet blades cut faster and you will also need less effort. The cutting insert is kept moist by the juice from the vegetables etc. during cutting.
  •  Foods with skins such as bell peppers, apples, or pears should always be placed on the cutting insert with the skin facing upwards. This way they can be most easily cut and you will also need less effort.
  • To chop ingredients simply place them on the cutting insert. For a potato soup, for example, cut the potatoes first into slices. To dice them, simply place several slices on top of each other on the blade. You can do the same thing with cucumbers, zucchini, etc.
  • To cut ingredients into sticks, e.g. to make French fries, place the potato upright on the cutting insert. Use the same process for making sticks from gherkins, apples etc. for delicious dips.
  • Please note that the cutting inserts are not intended to cut any hard food, such as carrots, squashes, stone fruit or similar. Only cut apples, pears, peaches, apricots, etc., if the pits have been removed. Only cut bananas, pineapples, melons, papaya, mango, etc. if the skin has been removed.

Cleaning and maintenance

All parts of the Delimano Brava Nicer Dicer should be thoroughly cleaned after every use under running water using a conventional dishwashing detergent. If any food has lodged between the blades, simply turn over the cutting insert (to the blunt side) and carefully clean it using a dishwashing brush (see: PICTURES, Pic. 9). Under no circumstances touch the blades with your fingers – the risk of injury!
NOTE: All plastic parts are top-rack dishwasher safe. The cutting inserts should not be placed in the dishwasher to ensure the blade’s best performance longer time. Take the Delimano Brava Nicer Dicer apart as follows:
Open the cutting upper part to a 90-degree position (vertical) and pull upwards so that the stamp comes out of the side holders (see: PICTURES, Pic. 10).
To remove the cutting lower part, simply lift up one of the ends and remove it. While doing so, hold the transparent container with the other hand (see: PICTURES, Pic. 11).
Self-cleaning function: The Delimano Brava Nicer Dicer has a self-cleaning function for the stick raster. Press the button on the top side of the cutting upper part. The integrated transparent cleaning plate in the stick raster is automatically pressed downwards and cleans the stick raster by removing even the smallest cutting residue. (see PICTURES, Pic. 12).

Troubleshooting

  • Hard foods such as carrots, squashes or similar should be sliced. Before cutting with the cutting insert, first Blanche hard foods with boiling water
  •  Foods ooze out over the cutting surface when cutting and is crushed. No more than ⅔ of the cutting surface should be covered, to allow sufficient spacing around all four sides of the cutting insert. When preparing the food, ensure you cut it into suitably small pieces! If food has lodged in the cutting insert, do not continue to press down on it! Carefully remove food from the cutting insert. To remove remnants from the blades, simply turn over the cutting insert (to the blunt side) and carefully clean it using a dishwashing brush. If necessary, prepare the food by cutting it into small pieces or into slices and then putting it through the Delimano Brava Nicer Dicer
  • The upper part cannot be closed in a single stroke. Check that the food has not moved and/ or the correct pin block has been inserted. After making corrections, fully open the upper part and push down again with a single powerful stroke! Do not continue to apply excessive force afterward
  • Food moves when cutting. Simply press down lightly on the food, using the upper part for example, so that it cannot slip
  • Food with skin lodges in the cutting insert or pin block. Ingredients with skin must be positioned with the skin on top when laid on the blade (cut side on the cutting surface)
