Diliman Espresso Coffe Machine – User Manual
Please read this manual thoroughly before using and save it for future reference.

WARNINGS

  1.  Mishandling the unit can lead to its breakage and cause harm to the user or damage to his/her property.
  2.  Before use, place the product on hard, flat, stable and dry surface.
  3.  This device is equipped with a grounded plug. Please ensure the wall outlet in your house is well earthed.
  4.  Plug in power supply that corresponds to the rated one on product/charger only. In case of misusage power supply or device failure may occur.
  5.  To avoid the risk of fire, do not use cable extentions for connecting the coffee maker to the mains.
  6.  Slight odors are possible at beginning of usage until device reaches its thermal stability.
  7.  Use the device according to its intended purpose only.
  8.  This device should never operate with empty water tank, because such action could result in appliance failure and/or injuries to the user.
  9.  This device is intended for household, dry and indoor use only.
  10.  Never leave or keep the coffee maker in places with the temperature below 0°C.
  11.  Do not place the coffee maker on hot surfaces.
  12.  Do not use the coffee maker near heat or moisture sources or near open flame.
  13.  Do not let the power cord hang from the edge of the table and make sure it does not touch hot surfaces or sharp edges of furniture.
  14.  Care should be taken when using the appliance due to the emission of steam; unplug the appliance during filling and cleaning.
  15.  Regarding the instructions for filling, cleaning and descaling, please refer to the below paragraphs.
  16.  To avoid electric shock, do not immerse the main unit, power cable or power plug into water or other liquids.
  17.  The use of attachments or accessories not recommended or sold by the product distributor may cause personal or property hazards or injuries.
  18.  Fill the tank only with clean cold water, (it is recommended to use water additionally cleaned with domestic water filters).
  19.  Before switching the unit on, make sure that all removable parts are installed properly.
  20. This device should never be switched on or stay plugged in power supply when not in use, while replacing accessories or during cleaning.
  21.  Do not touch the power cable, the plug or the main unit with wet hands.
  22.  To avoid burns, do not touch hot surfaces of the device during coffee making and right after switching the unit off.
  23.  Do not remove the coffee holder during coffee maker operation.
  24.  Do not leave children unattended to prevent using the unit as a toy.
  25.  The appliance can be used by children aged from 8 years and above and persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance in a safe way and understand the hazards involved. Children shall not play with the appliance. Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be made by children unless they are older than 8 and supervised.
  26.  If the power cable is damaged, it must be replaced immediately by an authorized and qualified personnel only.
  27.  If the device is not working as it should, has received a sharp blow, has been dropped, damaged, left outdoors or dropped into water, do not use it.
  28.  Do not attempt any modification or repair by yourself and ensure that any repair is conducted only by an appropriately qualified technician.
  29.  Prevent heat buildup or thermal congestion, so that the coffee machine is not placed to close to the wall or under suspended cabinets etc. The escaping steam can damage the furniture.

BEFORE USE

  •  Align and insert the (selected) filter in the coffee holder. See PICTURES Pic. 3

  •  Turn the filter to the left or right to secure it in the coffee holder. See: PICTURES Pic. 4
    Note: To ensure the first cup of coffee tastes excellent, you should rinse the coffee maker with warm water as follows:

  •  Pull out the water tank of the device Pour water into the water tank, the water level should not exceed the “MAX” mark in the tank, then reposition it into the device. Tip: The device is supplied with a removable tank for easy refill, you can fill the tank with water firstly, and then insert the tank into the appliance.

  •  Align the coffee holder slightly to the left, lift it into the main device and rotate it counterclockwise to lock it in place. (see PICTURES Pic.4).

  •  Place a cup of appropriate size drip plate. Make sure the steam knob is at the “O” position.

  1.  Connect the power cable into the power supply and press the power button “ ” to turn the device ON. The power indicator (red) will lit, and the coffee indicator (white) will be blinking.
  2. When the coffee indicator stops blinking and stays lit, press the coffee button“ , the pump will start to pump water, when there is water flowing out stop the pump by pressing  the coffee button“ ” again.
  3. The appliance begin preheating until the coffee indicator (white) is lit again, it means that the preheating is finished
  4.  Press the coffee button“ ” again, and water will flow out.
  5. After water has flown for 1 minute, press the coffee button “ ”to stop the pump, you can pour out the water from cup and clean it thoroughly, now you can start brewing coffee. Note: There may be noise when pumping the water for the first time, it is normal, as the appliance is releasing the air in the appliance. After about 20 s, the noise will disappear.

USAGE

Preheating
To make a cup of good hot Espresso coffee, it is recommended to preheat the appliance before making coffee, including the funnel and cup, so that the coffee flavour will not be influenced by the cold parts.

  1.  Remove the removable water tank and fill it with desired water, to the MAX water level. Then insert the tank into the appliance properly.
  2.  Set filter into the coffee holder (without the coffee), then insert the coffee holder into the main device and turn it anticlockwise until it is fixed tightly (see PICTURES Pic.4)
  3.  Place a cup of appropriate size drip plate.
  4.  Plug the power cable into the power supply. Make sure the steam knob is at the “O” position.
  5. Press the power button “ ” to turn on the device, the power indicator (red) will turn ON and the coffee indicator (white) will start blinking.
  6. When the coffee indicator (white) stops blinking. press the coffee button“ ” , when there is water flowing out, stop the pump by pressing the coffee button“  ” again.
  7. When the coffee indicator (white) is lit, press the coffee button “ ” again, there will be hot water flowing out.
  8.  After the water has flown for 20 s, press the coffee button“  ”. The preheating is finished.

Making espresso

  1.  Remove the coffee holder by turning it clockwise.

  2.  Add ground coffee for coffee machines to filter (in the coffee holder) with a measuring spoon (provided), a spoon of ground coffee can make about a cup of coffee, then press the ground coffee powder tightly with the pusher (another side of the spoon).

  3.  Align, insert and lock (counterclockwise) the coffee holder into the main device. See: PICTURES Pic. 4

  4.  Pour out the hot water in the cup. Then place the hot cup (yourself cup) on a removable drip plate

  5.  Make sure the steam knob is at the “O” position.

  6. At the time, the coffee indicator (white) is lit, press the coffee button“ ” , wait for a moment for a coffee start flowing out.

  7. You should press the coffee button “ ”again when desired coffee is obtained or the color of coffee changes noticeably.

  8. 8. After finishing making coffee, press the power button “ ”, and the power indicator and coffee indicator turn OFF your coffee is ready.
    Note: During brewing coffee or making steam, it is normal that the power light is likely to blink, it only means that the heater is heating up to keep the temperature at the standard range.

  9.  You can take the coffee holder out by turning it clockwise, then remove the coffee residue from the coffee holder by shaking it or scraping it with a non-sharp object/tool.

  10.  Once all parts are cooled, rotate the filter o align and remove it from the coffee holder and rinse them under running water.

Making cappuccino

You can get a cup of cappuccino by topping a cup of espresso with frothing milk.
Note: during making steam, the steam wand must be fully assembled.

  1.  Prepare espresso first with a cup of appropriate size and make sure that the steam knob is at the “O” position

  2.  Press the steam button “ ” , the steam indicator (white) will be blinking;wait for it to stop blinking.

  3.  Fill a jug with about 100 ml of milk for each cappuccino to be prepared, you are recommended to use whole milk at refrigerator temperature (not hot!).
    Tip: In order to get better milk foam performance, you are recommended to keep steam knob at open/max position for approx 15 s into an empty jug, since the early steam contains too much water, pour out the water from the jug and rotate the steam knob to“O” position and move to next step .

  4.  Insert the steam wand into the milk about two centimeters, then turn the steam knob slowly in counterclockwise, steam will come out from the steam wand. Frothed milk is produced by moving the jug from up to down repeatedly.
    Notes: Never touch steam wand during steam jetting to avoid scalding.
    Never turn the steam knob rapidly, as the steam will accumulate rapidly in a short time which may increase the potential of the risk of explosion.

  5.  When done, you can turn the steam knob to the “O” position and press the steam button “ ” again to exit the steam function.

  6.   Please follow the operation as below to avoid the steam outlet being blocked after finishing frothing milk each time: put an empty jug under the steam band, then turn on the steam knob and press the coffee button “ ” , for 30 seconds before pressing the coffee button “” again to stop the pump, finally, clean the steam outlet with wet sponge, but take care not to v v

  7. Press the power button

  8. Pour the frothed milk into the espresso prepared, now the cappuccino is ready.
    Note: Please follow the operation as below if the steam outlet is blocked: firstly turn the steam knob to “O” position and make the coffee maker cool down for about half an hour, then carefully poke the steam outlet for several times with a needle about 1 mm in diameter, finally, press the steam button “” and rotate the steam knob to check if the appliance can produce steam normally when the steam indicator (white) is lit. Contact the nearest dealer if no steam comes out.
    Note: after steaming, we recommend cooling down the device for 5 min before making coffee again. Otherwise, the burnt odor may occur in your espresso coffee.

  9. If you want to make coffee immediately, follow the next steps: Press the steam button “ ”; dip the steam wand into a cup; secondly, press the coffee button “ ” and rotate on the steam control knob to allow water flow out from steam wand; and coffee indicator (white) is blinking, press the coffee button “ ” again, then rotate the steam control knob to “O”  position. When the coffee indicator (white) is lit, you can start to brew coffee again.

FROTHING MILK/PRODUCING STEAM TO HEAT LIQUIDS:

The steam wand can be used to froth milk and make hot beverages like drinking chocolate, water or tea.

Method:

  1. Remove the removable tank and fill it with water to the “MAX” mark in the tank. Then insert the tank into the device.
  2.  Plug the power cable to the power supply
  3. Press the power button “ ”. The power indicator (red) will turn ON and the coffee indicator (white) will start to blink.
  4. When the coffee indicator (white) stops blinking, press the coffee button“ ”, the pump will pump water, when water starts flowing out ,stop the pump by pressing the coffee button“again
  5. The device is preheating until the coffee indicator (white) is lit again, it means that the preheating has finished.
  6. Press the steam button “” , the steam indicator (white) will start to blinking – wait for it to stop blinking..
  7. Dip the steam wand into the liquid to be heated. If you want to froth milk, dip the steam wand about 2 centimeters into the milk. Turn the steam knob in counterclockwise slowly to start making steam
  8. When done, rotate the steam knob to the “O” position.
  9. When done, press the power button “

AUTOMATIC POWER-OFF FUNCTION:
The appliance will turn off automatically if there is no operation within 25 minutes.

CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE:

General cleaning:

  1.  Turn off and unplug from the power supply before allowing the device to cool down completely before cleaning.

  2.  Clean housing of the device with a damp cloth and clean water tank, drip tray, and drip plate regularly then dry them.
    Note: Do not clean with alcohol or solvent cleaner. Never immerse the main unit in water for cleaning.

  3.  Detach the metal funnel by turning it clockwise, get rid of coffee residue inside, and wash with detergent before rinsing it with clear water. Do not wash any parts in a dishwasher.

  4.  Clean all the attachments in the water and dry thoroughly.
    Note: Clean the appliance after every use in order to make it work properly.

Descaling:

  1. To ensure your device can operate efficiently, internal piping is clean and coffee best as possible, you should clean away the mineral deposits left every 1-2 months.
  2.  Fill the tank with water just below the MAX level before adding a couple of teaspoons of citric acid
  3.  According to the program of preheating, put the coffee holder (without coffee in it!) and cup in place. Start “PREHEATING”.
  4. 4. Press down the power button “ ” to turn the device ON (the power indicator (red) will turn ON, and the coffee indicator (white) will be blinking). When the coffee indicator (white) stops blinking, press the coffee b the pump will start to pump water. As soon as water flows from the coffee holder’s spouts turn OFF the pump by pressing the coffee button“ ” again and wait for the coffee maker begins to be heated.
  5.  When the coffee indicator (white) turns ON, it shows the heating is finished. Press the coffee button “ ” and make/release for two cups of water. Then press the coffee button again and wait for 5 s.
  6. Press the steam button “ ” to the lower position, waiting for until the steam indicator is illuminated. Allow steam to be released for 2min, then turn the steam knob to the “O” position o stop making steam. Press the power button “ ” to turn off the device, and allow the water/citric acid mixture to rest in the unit for at least 15 minutes.
  7. Restart the unit and repeat the steps of 4-6 at least 3 times.
  8. Then press the coffee button “ ” to brew until all the mixture is used.
  9.  As the final step discard the rest of the mixture from the tank and fill the tank with tap water to the MAX level, repeat the steps of 4-6 for 3 times (it is not necessary to wait 15 minutes in step of 6), then proceed to brew until all the water is used.
  10. Repeat the step of 9 at least 3 times to make sure the device is completely clean and ready to use.

 TROUBLESHOOTING

Problem Possible cause Possible solution
Water leaks from the bottom of coffee maker. There is too much water in the
drip tray. Empty the drip tray.
The coffee maker malfunctions. Contact the nearest dealer.
Water leaks out from side of the coffee holder. There is some coffee powder
on filter edge. Clean the coffee holder.
Acidic taste of coffee. Device not cleaned properly after descaling. Clean

the device according to “Descaling” chapter (point 9. and 10.)
The grinded coffe was not stored properly.| Use only freshly grinded coffee or the one that was properly stored (in a cool, dry place like refigirator).
The device stops working.| The power cable is not plugged to power supply.| Plug the power cable to power supply correctly. if the device still does not work, stop using it and contact your nearest dealer.
The steam cannot froth.| The steam indicator is not turned ON.| Only after the steam indicator is turned ON, the steam can be used to froth.
The cup is too big or of wrong shape.| Use high and narrow cup.
You have used skimmed milk| Use whole milk or half-skimmed milk
