Safety Tips

CAUTION: Read these instructions carefully, as incorrect wire connections will damage the receiver unit.  Before making any electrical connections, ensure the supply is isolated at the fuse or breaker protecting the circuit to be worked on. Double check the supply is isolated. NOTE: This remote control is suitable for connection to both types of wiring systems used with Westinghouse ceiling fans. Refer to ceiling fan instructions for choice of wiring connections.

  1. Turn off power at fuse box to avoid possible electrical shock.
  2. After hanging fan onto the mounting bracket, make sure plug connectors from the ceiling fan and terminal block (1) are moved away from the space located above the downrod ball (2). Slide the remote receiver into the space above the downrod ball as shown.
  3. While fan is hanging on bracket, plug 4-pole connector from the mounting bracket into the 4-pole plug connector from the remote receiver (1). Plug the 4-pole plug connector from the remote receiver into the 4-pole plug connector from the fan (2). Attach the ground wire (3) from the downrod to the mounting bracket.
  4. NOTE: If your ceiling fan is not equppied with connector plugs as used in step 3, carefully cut off plugs provided on the receiver unit and wire this unit as shown in the following step. NOTE: For this type of installation, you will need to purchase an 7-way strip connector (not included). NOTE: After wiring is complete, neatly bundle any excess electrical wires and carefully push them into the ceiling fan canopy, making sure to keep electrical connections in tact. Complete the normal ceiling fan installation procedures, following the instructions provided with your ceiling fan.
