i-box Shin Sad LED Therapy Light
Introduction
EN The Shine produces up to 10,000 lux* of light at Natural Daylight
frequencies to help trigger biochemical changes in the brain which regulate
your melatonin output (to improve your sleep cycle) and boosts your serotonin
levels
(to improve your mood). It also includes a Sunrise function and Sunset
function to help you, in a natural way, to wake up and get to sleep at night.
The i-box Shine provides a host of other features including FM radio, alarm
function, natural Soundtracks and the LCD displays the time, day, date,
weather forecast symbols as well as temperature and humidity readings
transmitted by the remote outdoor wireless sensor.
Caring for your Shine therapy light
- Important – Please read these instructions fully before operating your therapy light.
- Keep away from flame sources such as lighted candles.
- The units should not be exposed to direct sunlight, very high or low temperature, vibrations, strong magnetic fields, high frequencies and dusty environments.
- The Shine SAD lamp is for indoor use only, the sensor supplied can be positioned outside but should be sheltered from the rain and mounted vertically so that any moisture drains out and should be well ventilated and must not be immersed in water.
- Never attempt to insert wires, pins or other such objects into the vents or openings of the unit.
- Do not disassemble or modify the light, there are no user serviceable parts. If the light is damaged in anyway or malfunctions do not use. Consult a qualified service engineer.
- Do not use abrasives, benzene, thinner or other solvents to clean the surface of the unit. To clean, wipe with a clean soft cloth and a mild detergent solution.
- Only use the power adaptor supplied if you need to replace it make sure the replacement has the same power rating.
- This product uses batteries and should be disposed of separately from household waste at an appropriate recycling point/centre at the end of it’s life cycle. For more detailed information about disposal of your old appliance, please contact your local authority.

Getting started
Assembly
Attach the stand 3 to the stand socket 2 on the back of the Shine if you want
your Shine to be free standing. Alternatively you can hang the main unit from
a hook or screw using the keyhole slot on the back of the unit 1 .
Power Supply
Plug the power adaptor into a mains socket and the DC jack into the DC socket
5 .
Powering and positioning the remote sensor
Remove the retaining screws 9 , slide open the battery compartment cover 10 of
the sensor and insert 2x AAA batteries 11 and replace the cover and screws.
You can now position the sensor vertically on a flat surface, or hanging from
a hook or screw using the keyhole slot 8 replace the screws 9 .
Volume Control
In FM mode and Soundtrack Mode short press 19 , 20 buttons to select volume
level 0-16
FM Radio
Playing the FM radio
- Unroll and extend the wire antenna 6 for optimum FM signal reception.
- Press the FM button 15 to turn the radio On/Off.
- Press and hold the 19 , 20 buttons for 2 seconds to tune to the next/previous available FM station.
Autoscan
In FM mode, Press and hold the FM button 15 for 2 seconds to autoscan for all
available radio stations. Up to 20 stations will be stored to Preset
positions automatically.
Radio Presets
In FM mode Press the Time/Snooze/Preset (17) key to enter Preset select mode.
Short press 19 , 20 keys select a preset from P01-P20.
Setting the Time, Date and Temperature Units
Time can only be set In standby mode (when natural sounds, radio and the light
are off).
- To enter setting mode press and hold the Time/Snooze/Preset key 17 for 2 seconds.
- Use the 19 , 20 keys to choose the Hour and press 17 to confirm.
- Repeat the process to set: Minutes > 12/24Hr Clock Format > Year > Month > Day > Week Day Language > °C/°F Temperature Units
- Press the Sunset/Back key 18 to return to the previous setting.
Sunrise Alarm Settings
The Alarm can only be set In standby mode (when natural sounds, radio and the light are off). The sunset alarm acts like a standard alarm but the light will also come on at a set time before the alarm sounds. The light will gradually brighten as the alarm time approaches – you can set how long before the alarm the light first comes on and how bright the light will be when the alarm sounds.
- Long Press the Sunrise Alarm key 13 for more than 2s to enter the Sunrise Alarm setting mode
- Press the 19 , 20 keys to adjust the Sunrise Alarm Hour up or down
- Press the Sunrise Alarm key 13 to confirm and move to the next step (If the Shine is set to a 12Hr clock display make sure PM is not displayed if you want to select an AM alarm time.)
- 4. Use the 19 , 20 keys to select the minutes, press the Sunrise Alarm key 13 to confirm and move to the next step.
- Repeat the process, using the 19 , 20 keys to select a setting and the Sunrise Alarm key 13 to confirm a setting and to set: > Lamp brightness level (1-10/OFF) >
- Lamp Brightening Time, before the alarm sounds (-5/-10/-15/-20/-25/-30) > Audible Alarm Type: Soundtrack (1/2/3/4)/Beep /FM Radio Preset (P01-P20) > Alarm Volume (2-16)
- Short press the Sunrise Alarm key 13 to switch the alarm ON/OFF. Alarm ON icon 27 will be displayed when alarm is set to ON.
Please Note: If you just want a standard audible only alarm and don’t want the lamp to come on select OFF when setting Lamp brightness you can then set the type of alarm and volume.
Alarm Stop / Snooze
Short press Time/Snooze/Preset key 17 while the alarm is sounding to delay the
alarm for 9 minutes. Press 14 , 15 or 18 key to stop the alarm until the next
day. Press the Sunrise Alarm key 13 to switch off the alarm, the alarm icon
27 will no longer be displayed.
SAD light operation
Short press the SAD light control key 12 to switch on the SAD Lamp to the level previously set then short press repeatedly to cycle through levels 1-10 and OFF. Long press SAD light control key 12 for more than 2 seconds to switch off the SAD lamp.
Sunset sequence / Sleep mode
The sunset feature will gradually reduce the brightness of your Shine’s lamp
over the Sunset period set. Switch the lamp on first to set, if at the same
time you are playing the FM radio or a Soundtrack these will also switch off
at the end of the period set. If you just want to switch off a Soundtrack or
the radio after a set period you can use the same method just switch off the
lamp first before setting.
- Short Press the Sunset/Back key 18 to toggle Sunset/Sleep mode On/Off
- Long Press (unset/Back key 18 to enter Timer setting
- Short press 19 , 20 keys to select time period: 05/10/15/20/25/30/35/40/45/50/55/60min
- Short Press 17 key to confirm and exit Please Note: There is no reduction in volume of the audio over the time period set.
Display screen brightness
Press and hold the Soundtrack/Screen Dim key 14 to change the brightness of
the screen’s backlight. There is a choice of Off and 4 levels of brightness.
Nature Soundtrack Playback Mode
Press the key 14 repeatedly to select tracks 1-4 and exit playback mode
Options are: 1. Stream > 2. Campfire > 3. White Noise > 4. Birdsong > OFF
Wireless Temperature & Humidity Sensor
The remote sensor supplied measures and transmits the information to the main
unit that enable it to display temperature, humidity and weather forecast
symbols.
- Use a screwdriver to remove the retaining screws 9 and slide open the battery compartment cover.
- Insert 2 x 1.5V “AAA” batteries 11 according to the polarity indicated (batteries not included)
- Close the battery compartment cover 10 and replace screws.
Position the sensor vertically on a flat surface, or hanging from a hook or screw using the keyhole slot on the back of the unit. For best results: Place in the shade outside Do not expose the sensor to direct sunlight. It is water resistant (to IPX4 – splashproof) but must not be immersed in water. Position within 10m of the main unit at 1.5 – 2m above the ground. Minimise obstructions (doors, walls and furniture) between the sensor and the main unit and to prevent interference keep away from metal and electronic devices. Allow 2-3 minutes after batteries are installed for wireless connection to the main unit.
