Congratulations on your purchase of the Ridetech Rear MuscleBar. These kit has
been designed to give your truck excellent handling along with a lifetime of
enjoyment. Some of the key features of this Muscle-Bar: Posilinks – The
Posilink makes the reaction of the swaybar instantaneous, tuneability – this
Musclebar has 3 positions to aid in the tuning of the handling of your truck.
Note: This MuscleBar is designed to be used with the Ridetech
Shockwave/Coliover System.
- This kit requires welding of the Axle Mounts to the Axle Tubes. Be sure to clean off any paint or rust from the area you will be welding.
This SwayBar kit utilizes a Delrin Liner in the SwayBar Bushing. The Delrin Liner allows the Swaybar to move freely and quietly in the Bushing. The Delrin is self-lubricating, no lubrication is required.
-
The Delrin Liner is split on one side to ease installation. We found it easier to install by opening up the Liner enough to slide it onto the end of the SwayBar, then sliding it into position. It will open up and slide over the curves in the Bar. Install a Liner on each side of the SwayBar in the approximate location they will need to be when installing the SwayBar on the Car.
Note: The Delrin is self-lubricating, no lubricant is needed. -
Open up the Poly SwayBar Bushings and install them over the Delrin Sleeves. Install Bushing Straps Over the Poly SwayBar Bushings. MuscleBar Installation
-
Insert the MuscleBar above the axle with the arms pointing forward. Align the bushing/straps with the mounts on the upper crossmember. Install a 3/8” Flat Washer on each of (4) 3/8”-16 x 1 1/4” Bolts. With the MuscleBar held in position, insert a bolt/washer through the each of the (4) holes for the strap and mount. Install a 3/8” Flat Washer and 3/8”-16 Nylok Nut on the threads sticking through the mount on each of the (4) bolts. Snug the hardware up enough to pull the bushings up against the mounts, but not so sight that you can’t move the bar. Center the MuscleBar in the truck and also put the arms level. After centering the bar, tighten the mounting hardware to 30 ftlbs.
-
Use the endlinks to hold the Axle Mounts in place. Install the End Links using Diagram “4” as a reference for proper installation. Raise the axle up to center the tube in the Axle Mount. Tighten the Hex Nut enough to slightly compress the Bushings.
-
The Mounts will need to be welded to the axle. Clean any paint or rust from the area that will need to be welded. With the arms level and the axle raised up to nest it into the Axle Mounts, tack weld the mounts to the axle tube. Remove the MuscleBar linkage before fi nal welding. Lay 1” welds on the inside and outside of the mounts. Skip around from one side to the other to avoid overheating the tube. After the welds cool, paint the area to keep it from rusting. Reinstall the MuscleBar linkage and tighten the hardware enough to slightly compress the Bushings.
