REGULATOR HOSE REPLACEMENT INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Turn gas cylinder off.

  2. Disconnect the hose from the gas cylinder.

  3. Use an adjustable wrench to loosen the nut at the base of the hose that connects to the burner venturi.

  4. Remove hose, spring, and air shutter from burner venturi.

  5. Properly discard the hose.

  6. To replace hose: Place air shutter on burner venturi. Slide the small end of the spring onto the end of replacement hose.
    Thread the end of the hose into the burner clockwise to tighten. Do NOT overtighten. (Air shutter must remain adjustable).MASTERBUILT MB10 Regulator

  7. Connect a hose to the gas cylinder.

  8. Perform Soapy Water Test by following the directions below.

SOAPY WATER TEST WARNINGS & PROCEDURES

  • Soapy water test MUST be performed each time gas cylinder is connected to burner/hose or each time it is used.
  • A soapy water test MUST be performed outdoors in a well-ventilated area.
  • When performing soapy water tests keep smokers away from open flames, sparks, or lit cigarettes.
  • The smoker is designed to work with propane gas only. Only use gas cylinders marked propane with this unit. This product will NOT operate with natural gas.
  • Never use an open flame to test for gas leaks.

PREPARATION:

  • Remove any cookware from the smoker.
  • Make sure the gas cylinder valve, regulator, and burner control valve are turned to the OFF position.
  • Prepare soapy water solution: (1) part dishwashing liquid (or more if desired), (3) parts water.
  • Apply soapy water solution to gas cylinder valve, regulator, and hose length up to burner.
    Apply the solution to the gas cylinder| Apply the solution to the hose regulator and the full length of the hose| Apply solution underneath control panel where burner and hose are connected| A failed test will present bubbles as shown below.

TESTING GAS CYLINDER VALVE:

  • Turn the gas cylinder valve ON and watch for bubbles. DO NOT LEAVE GAS ON FOR MORE THAN 12 SECONDS. If bubbles appear, stop, turn the gas cylinder valve OFF and retighten the fitting. Repeat test.

TESTING REGULATOR AND HOSE:

  • AFTER the gas cylinder valve has passed the soapy water test, turn the gas cylinder valve ON and check for bubbles at the valve location, along the full length of the hose, and at the burner connection. DO NOT LEAVE GAS ON FOR MORE THAN 12 SECONDS. If bubbles appear, stop, turn the regulator valve OFF, turn the gas cylinder valve OFF and retighten the connection that is leaking gas. If the hose is the source of the leak, STOP, do not use the unit. The hose must be replaced.
  • When the test is complete, and there are no leaks, wait a minimum of 5 minutes for gas fumes to diminish before lighting the smoker.

WARNING

• Never leave the appliance unattended.
• Use caution when cooking on windy days to ensure the flame does not blow out. If you suspect or experience a flame blowout, first turn off the gas cylinder and then follow the IGNITION INSTRUCTIONS in the instruction manual to re-ignite the burner. Adjust the burner control valve setting for a higher flame to prevent further blowouts.
