This appliance contains the coolant isobutane (R600a), a natural gas that is environmentally friendly. Although it is flammable, it does not damage the ozone layer and does not increase the greenhouse effect. The use of this coolant has, however, led to a slight increase in the noise level of the appliance. In addition to the noise of the compressor, you might be able to hear the coolant flowing around the system. This is unavoidable and does not have any adverse effect on the performance of the appliance. Care must be taken during the transportation and setting up of the appliance so that no parts of the cooling system are damaged. Leaking coolant can damage the eyes.

Transporting the device

  • Transport the fridge in an upright position and not lying down.
  • Allow the unit to stand for 30 Minutes after transportation before switching the unit on.
  • When moving the fridge, take care not to place your hand on the door, the top part of the fridge or the pump.

Placing the device

  • Place the unit on a secure and level surface, in a well ventilated area, away from a heat source, and avoid direct sunlight.
  • Do not place near a water source or an area of high humidity to prevent rust or lessen isolation.

CAUTION: Trip hazard
To prevent accidents the wiring should not be covered by the refrigerator or other objects.

OPERATION

Preparation

  1. Remove all the packaging including the base foam and all the adhesive tape.
  2. Count all the spare parts and materials supplied with the refrigerator.
  3. Place the refrigerator correctly in the right place.
  4. Clean it before using and allow the unit to stand for at least 30 minutes without power. After this period has passed, you may switch the unit on.

Switch the unit on

  1. Turn the Thermostat button between “0” and “6”.
  2. Close the door, allow a few minutes then touch the right and left side of the refrigerator, which will be warm to the touch.
  3. After 30 minutes the refrigerator would have cooled, indicating that the compressor system is working correctly.
  4. Please readjust the thermostat to set the desired temperature.

Thermostat

  • The temperature in the refrigerator is controlled by the Thermostat. “0” switches the unit off and “6” is the coldest setting. In some special conditions (hot weather) it is advisable to keep the unit running on a higher setting.

Food storage in the unit

  • Please cover all food to avoid odour transfer.
  • Allow sufficient space in the unit between foodstuffs in order to assist with improved cold air flow.
  • Hot food needs to cool to room temperature before placing in the refrigerator.
  • Avoid opening the door unnecessarily – this will keep the cool air inside and reduce the workload of the compressor.
  • Please ensure all fruits and vegetables are cleaned before placing in the refrigerator.
  • Door storage is designed for lighter items and cold drinks in cans. Please place heavier items on the shelves inside the refrigerator.

Note: It’s better to allow the refrigerator to run for longer periods than switching the unit on and off, even if there is no food in unit. This will extend the life of the unit.

MAINTENANCE AND CLEANING

Defrost

  • If there is frost build up on the evaporator plate, the unit needs to be defrosted. When you defrost, please remove all the food and turn the thermostat to defrost, and open the door.

Note: If you want to speed up the defrost rate, place a bowl of hot water on the rack and close the door. Please don’t use any solid or sharp object or electric heater to defrost as this will damage the evaporator.

Replacing the bulb

  1. Should the light fail, switch off at the socket outlet and pull out the mains plug.
  2. Then ensure the bulb is screwed securely in the bulb holder. Replace the plug and switch on.
  3. If the light still fails, obtain a replacement E14 screw-cap type 240V/10 Walt (Max) bulb from your local electrical store and then fit it.
  4. Carefully dispose of the burnt-out light bulb immediately.

Cleaning

  • The inside of the refrigerator needs to be cleaned in order to avoid unpleasant occurs.
  • First, switch the unit off.
  • Use a soft wet towel to wipe down the interior and dry with a cloth wiping away any marks.

Note: Avoid pouring water on the outside of the refrigerator as this will affect the in-sulation of the machine. Don’t use hot water, acid, alkali, gasoline, benzene, caustic cleanser, alcohol and hard brush to wipe the plastic parts.

Storage after use

  • If really want to stop using the refrigerator for a long period of time, please switch the unit off and follow the above information to clean and dry the unit. Thereafter keep it in the dry and clean place. Remember to leave the door slightly open to prevent the door seal form sticking to the cabinet.
