WATCH, WRIST:
SEARCH & RESCUE DIVER’S
AUTOMATIC (GSAR)

INSTRUCTIONS
P/N WW194006-00-01

The Marathon Search & Rescue Diver’s Automatic is a dive watch built to ISO 6425 standards. Designed for use by Search and Rescue (SAR) divers, and issued to the United States Marine Corps, the Diver’s Automatic is a watch built to withstand the most extreme of conditions. The Diver’s Automatic is also known as the Government Search and Rescue (GSAR).
The GSAR watch is water-resistant down to 30 ATM 300 meters (1000 feet) underwater. Built from 316L surgical grade stainless steel, the watch is a high-quality, purpose-built watch that will reliably accompany you on any adventure you may embark on. It uses a scratch-resistant, sapphire glass crystal to ensure that the dial can be read even under direct sunlight, or deep underwater.
Our dials and hands use self-contained tritium gas tubes to ensure constant visibility in low light situations, a gas tube is placed on each hour marker and hands and uses MaraGloTM for the 12 hour bezel marker. Tritium tubes are self-illuminating gas tubes which contain an isotope of hydrogen, meaning they will not dull down in brightness like normal photo-luminescent paint which requires an external light source to create a glow.
Marathon watches are made in La Chaux de Fonds Switzerland to guarantee the highest level of quality and accuracy in manufacturing. Inside the Diver’s Automatic is a Swiss made, 26 jewel Sellita SW200 automatic movement, that guarantees you a reliable and accurate timekeeping experience.
This watch combines military toughness with Swiss craftsmanship in a watch that will get the job done, and look good doing it.

SETTING THE TIME

  1. Unscrew the crown from position 1 to position 2.*
  2. Pull the crown out to position 4.
  3. Turn the crown clockwise or counterclockwise to adjust the time.

NOTE: When the crown is in position 4, the secondhand stops so that the time can be synchronized with an accurate time source.

  • If your watch has stopped, you may wind the crown clockwise while in position 2. Turn the crown six to ten full turns to restart the movement. Then set the time by pulling out the crown to position 4. Once the watch is set onto one’s wrist, it will automatically self-wind by the normal motion of the wrist. When winding the movement manually, be sure to turn the crown gently clockwise. Turning the crown too fast may cause damage to the winding gear.

SETTING THE DATE

  1. Unscrew the crown from position 1 to position 3.
  2. Turn the crown clockwise to change the date.**
  3. Pull the crown out to position 4 to adjust the time so that the date changes at midnight and not at mid-day (12 noon).

** We recommend that when setting the date, start by using yesterday’s date to make sure that the watch gets set to the proper morning (AM) or afternoon (PM) time period.
For example, if the present time is the 18th at 17:00, set the date to the 17th; then pull out the crown to position 4 and move the time forward until it reaches the 18th at 17:00.

CAUTION:

  1. Crown must be screwed in completely to ensure that the watch is water-resistant. Do not attempt to set the date if the hands are positioned between 20:00: hours and 01:00 hours. Adjusting the date in this position will cause damage to the: date mechanism and void the warranty.
  2. Use only officially certified service centers for servicing this watch, otherwise, the warranty is void.
  3. The watch is a precision instrument: and should not be subjected to extreme impact or kept for prolonged periods near magnetic fields, such as induction cooktops, handbags with magnets, and speakers. These: could potentially cause the watch to perform poorly or stop.
  4. This is a 41mm diameter ! diver’s watch and heavy instrument. Be careful not to drop it when mounting on the wrist.
