GoGEN DAB 620 BTC DAB+ FM Radio

Thank you for buying our product.Please read through these operating instructions, so you will know how to operate your equipment properly. After you finished reading the instructions manual, put it away in a safe place for future reference.

SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

  • Heed all warnings on the product and in the instruction manual.
  • For your safety, read and follow this manual carefully to ensure proper use of the product and avoid any danger or physical damage.
  • CAUTION : TO REDUCE THE RISK OF ELECTRIC SHOCK, DO NOT REMOVE ANY COVER. NO USER-SERVICEABLE PARTS INSIDE REFER ANY SERVICING TO QUALIFIED SERVICE PERSONNEL.

  • Do not use this apparatus near water or moisture
  • Do not use this product near a bathtub, washbowl, kitchen sink, and laundry tub, in a wet base-ment, near a swimming pool, or anywhere else that water or moisture is present.

  • Unplug this apparatus during lightning storms or when unused for long periods of time to prevent damage to this product.

  • To prevent risk of fire or electric shock, avoid overloading wall outlets, extension cords or integral convenience receptacles.
  • The ventilation should not be impeded by covering the ventilation openings with items, such as newspapers, table-cloths, curtains, etc.
  • No naked flame sources, such as lighted candles, should be placed on the apparatus
  • Keep the appliance away from rain and any moisture. Do not place the unit in moist and humid conditions, which could lead to malfunction.
  • When the unit is suddenly moved from a cold environment to a warm one, if moisture forms inside it, it may not operate properly. To correct this problem, wait about one hour for the moisture to evaporate.
  • Do not expose the unit under direct sunlight or nearby objects that radiate heat to avoid damaging the unit.
  • The apparatus should be used in moderate climate.
  • Ensure a minimum distance of 0.1 meters around the apparatus for sufficient ventilations.
  • The apparatus shall not be exposed to dripping or splashing, no objects filled with liquids, such as vases, shall be placed on the apparatus.
  • Servicing – Do not attempt to service this product yourself as opening or removing covers may expose you to dangerous voltage. Refer all servicing to qualified service personnel.
  • Damage Requiring Service – Unplug this product from the wall outlet and refer servicing to qualified service personnel under the following conditions:
    • A) If liquid has been spilled, or objects have fallen into the product; if the product has been expo-sed to rain or water.
    • B) If the product does not operate normally by following the operating instructions. Adjust only those controls that are covered by the operating instructions as improper adjustment may result in damage and will often require extensive work by a qualified technician to restore the product to its normal operation.
  • Use suitable power sources- Plug the product into a suitable power source, as described in the operating instructions or as marked on the product.

GETTING STARTED

Insert the jack of the supplied mains adapter into the socket on the rear of the radio (A). Plug the mains adapter into the mains supply (B). Press the STANDBY button to power on.

UNDERSTANDING THE CONTROL FUNCTIONS – QUICK SETUP

FEATURES – DISPLAY SOURCE MENU
Press the SOURCE button to display the ‘Source’ menu.

  • DAB Radio Listen to a digital radio station.
  • FM Radio Listen to an FM radio station.
  • BT Listening to a Bluetooth device
  • AUX Listen to content from a device connected to your Aux in connection

ADJUSTING AND MUTING THE VOLUME
Turn the Volume dial to increase or decrease the volume.

CHANGING THE INFORMATION SHOWN ON SCREEN
When listening to a digital or FM radio station, you can change the information that is displayed on the screen.

Digital radio
When listening to digital radio, press the INFO dial to toggle the information displayed on screen between Scrolling text, Programme type, Ensemble, Channel / frequency, Signal strength / error, Bitrate or Date. When listening to digital radio, you can also press and hold the ENTER dial to toggle the display to show the ‘Now playing’ screen, a full screen version of the radio station artwork and a screen that shows information about the show that is being broadcast along with the radio station artwork.

FM radio

When listening to FM radio, press the INFO dial to toggle the information displayed on the screen between ‘Scrolling text’, ‘Programme type’, ‘Frequency’, ‘Stereo/Mono’ and ‘Date’.

STANDBY button
Press STANDBY Button Turn on the DAB Digital Radio. The first time the DAB Digital Radio is switched, it will start up DAB mode. It will automatically scan for the available radio stations

LISTENING TO DIGITAL OR FM RADIO

  • Changing digital DAB stations
    • Press the SOURCE button to select “DAB“. The first time you select DAB radio, DAB will perform an autotune to find all available stations and will tune into one when finished
    • Press the TUNE +/- button to display the station list.
    • Press the TUNE +/- button or turn the ENTER /SCAN to choose the station.
    • Press the ENTER button to confirm

Changing FM stations

  • * `Seek tuning
    • Press the SOURCE button to select “FM“.
    • Press the and hold TUNE +/- button to tune next/previous FM radio station that has a strong signal.
    • Press the and hold ENTER/SCAN to launch auto scanning FM radio stations.

USING RADIO PRESETS

  • You can store up to 30 digital radio and 30 FM radio stations for quick access.
  • To store a station to the preset list
  • Tune to the digital or FM radio station you want to store. Hold the PRESET button to view the numerical list of stored presets, then turn and press the ENTER/SCAN dial to choose any Preset number between 1 and 30. You can overwrite existing presets

To recall a preset when listening to digital radio or FM radio
Press the PRESET button, turn the ENTER/SCAN dial right or left to scroll through the list of presets, then press the ENTER/SCAN to tune to the selected preset

DAB SETTINGS

Note : You can only see the DAB settings when you have selected ‘DAB’ as the radio source.

DAB Scan

You can use the ‘DAB Scan’ (auto tune) function to automatically scan for new digital radio stations and remove inactive ones.

  • Press and hold the MENU button to view the main menu.
  • Turn and press the ENTER/SCAN to choose ‘DAB Scan’.

The number of stations found will be displayed during the auto tune. When the auto tune has finished, the last station that you were listening to. If the last station you were listening to is no longer available, will tune into the first station in the alphabetical list.

Manual tuning

Enable manual Tune for DAB stations.

  • Press and hold the MENU button to view the main menu.
  • Turn and press the ENTER/SCAN to choose ‘Manual tune’.
  • Turn and press the ENTER/SCAN to choose the channel.

Prune

Remove all “invalid” stations, marked with”?”

  • Press and hold the MENU button to view the main menu.
  • Turn and press the ENTER/SCAN to choose ‘Prune’ and then press to confirm

FM RADIO SETTINGS

Note : You can only see the FM radio settings when you have selected ‘FM’ as the radio source.

FM scan

You can choose whether automatically stops at the next available FM station or the next available
FM station with a strong signal when scanning for an FM station. To change the FM scan setting:

  • Press and hold the MENU button to view the main menu.
  • Turn and press the ENTER/SCAN to choose ‘Scan Setting’.
  • Select between ‘Strong Stations Only’ or ‘All Stations’

FM stereo option

You can choose between stereo or mono reception when listening to FM radio. Mono may improve clarity where stereo signals are weak. To change between Stereo or Mono reception:

  • Press and hold the MENU button to view the main menu.
  • Turn and press the ENTER/SCAN to choose ‘Audio Setting’.
  • Select between ‘Stereo Allowed’ or ‘Forced Mono’.

USING THE AUX INPUT
You can use the aux input play any music from your phone or tablet. Connect the line out or headphone socket of your auxiliary device to the Aux In socket using a suitable cable. Selecting the Aux input: Press the SOURCE button to select “AUX“. On your auxiliary device, start to play the content that you selected on your auxiliary device.

USING THE BLUETOOTH

You can use Bluetooth to wirelessly connect to a device, such as a mobile phone or tablet. You can then stream music from your mobile phone or tablet through. The first time you connect a Bluetooth device, you need to pair them. After you‘ve paired a device , remembers it for the next time.

Listening to a Bluetooth device

  • Press the SOURCE button to select “BT“ (Bluetooth).

  • On your Bluetooth device switch Bluetooth on, find DAB 620 BTC and connect.

  • Select your favorite song, tap the PLAY Button on your Bluetooth device or the ENTER/SCAN

  • Button on the device to play or pause the song from your Bluetooth device.

  • Press the TUNE +/- Button to select the Next or Previous track.

  • If you want to pair (link) the device with another Bluetooth device, press and hold the SOURCE/BT

  • Button a few seconds. The device will go into Pairing/Discoverable mode.
    Note: For more information, see your Bluetooth device‘s user manual. If you are asked to enter a passcode, enter 0000.

  • Disconnecting a Bluetooth device

  • To disconnect a Bluetooth device, do one of the following:

  • Press SOURCE to switch to digital radio or FM radio. Switch off Bluetooth on the connected device.

SETTING ALARMS AND TIMERS

Setting an alarm

  • Press and hold the MENU button to view the main menu.

  • Turn and press the ENTER/SCAN to choose ‘System settings’ >’Alarm’.

  • From the ‘Alarm’ menu, turn and press the ENTER/SCAN to select either ‘Alarm 1’ or ‘Alarm 2’.

  • Press ENTER/SCAN to turn ‘Alarm’ to ‘On’.

  • Turn and press the ENTER/SCAN to change the ‘Frequency‘.

  • Select ‘Wake Up time’ by turning and pressing the ENTER/SCAN, turn the dial to adjust the hours and minutes, pressing ENTER/SCAN to confirm each section.

  • Turn and press the ENTER/SCAN to select ‘Source’. Turn and press the ENTER/SCAN to choose between ‘Buzzer’, ‘Digital Radio’ or ‘FM’, then press the ENTER/SCAN to confirm.

  • If you’ve chosen ‘Digital Radio’ or ‘FM’ radio, turn and press the ENTER/SCAN to select ‘Preset’.

  • To play the station you last listened to, turn and press the ENTER/SCAN to select ‘Last listened’ or turn and press the ENTER/SCAN to choose a radio station from the preset list.
    Note : Skip this step if you are setting a Buzzer alarm.

  • Turn and press the ENTER/SCAN to select ‘Duration’. Turn and press the ENTER/SCAN to set the duration that the alarm will sound in minutes.

  • Turn and press the ENTER/SCAN to select ‘Volume’. Turn and press the ENTER/SCAN to set the volume of the alarm.

Snoozing a sounding alarm

To snooze a sounding alarm, press the ENTER/SCAN. The display will show a countdown timer to show how long the alarm will snooze for. To adjust the amount of time the alarm will be snoozed by, press the Select dial to change the snooze duration in 5 minute intervals up to 15 minutes, and then 30 minutes. To cancel a snoozing alarm press the STANDBY button.

Setting the sleep timer

Press the MENU button and turn and press the ENTER/SCAN to select ‘System Settings’. Turn and press the ENTER/SCAN to select ‘Sleep’. Turn and press the ENTER/SCAN to adjust the length of the sleep timer.

Cancelling a sounding alarm
Press STANDBY button to cancel any sounding alarm or press SOURCE to cancel

TIME AND DATE SETTINGS

The clock will automatically set itself using your digital or FM radio signal. If the time or date does not update automatically, you can manually set it using this option.
Note: Any time or date updates received by a digital broadcast will override manual settings.

Setting the time and date manually:

  • Press and hold the MENU button to view the main menu.
  • Turn and press the ENTER/SCAN to select ‘System settings’ > ‘Time/Date’.
  • Turn and press the ENTER/SCAN to choose ‘Set Time/Date’.
  • Turn and press the ENTER/SCAN to set the hour. Repeat to adjust the minutes.
  • Turn and press the ENTER/SCAN to set the day of the month. Repeat to set the month and year.

Note: If you set the 12-hour time format, make sure that you select the ‘AM’ or ‘PM’ version of the hour before pressing the ENTER/SCAN dial.

Time and date synchronization options

You can synchronize the time and date on the FM or digital radio signal.

To specify the clock synchronization options:

  • Press and hold the MENU button to view the main menu.
  • Turn and press the ENTER/SCAN to select ‘System settings’ > ‘Time/Date’.
  • Turn and press the ENTER/SCAN to choose ‘Auto update’.
  • Turn and press the ENTER/SCAN to choose between the ‘from Any’, ‘from DAB’, ‘from FM’ and ‘No Update’ clock synchronization options.

Changing the time format

  • Press and hold the MENU button to view the main menu.
  • Turn and press the ENTER/SCAN to select ‘System settings’ > ‘Time/Date’.
  • Turn and press the ENTER/SCAN to choose ‘Set 12/24 Hour’.
  • Turn and press the ENTER/SCAN to choose between ‘12’ or ‘24’ hours.

Changing the date format

  • Press and hold the MENU button to view the main menu.
  • Turn and press the ENTER/SCAN to select ‘System settings’ > ‘Time/Date’.
  • Turn and press the ENTER/SCAN to choose ‘Set date format’.
  • Turn and press the ENTER/SCAN to choose between ‘DD-MM-YYYY’ and ‘MM-DD-YYYY’

BestTuneTM
The station list shows all tuned DAB / FM stations. Once you have selected a station, BestTuneTM intelligently decides whether to play a DAB or FM station, depending on which station is of better quality.
Theme
You can change the theme of the menu.

Equalizer

You can set the equalizer to improve your listening experience.

  • Press and hold the MENU button to view the main menu.
  • Turn and press the ENTER/SCAN to select ‘System settings’ > ‘Equalizer’.
  • Turn and press the ENTER/SCAN to choose between ‘Normal’, ‘Classic’, ‘Jazz’, ‘Pop’, ‘Rock’,

‘Speech’ and ‘My EQ’. If you want to use a custom equalization setting, select ‘My EQ Setup

Creating a custom equalization setting

  • Press and hold the MENU button to view the main menu.
  • Turn and press the ENTER/SCAN to select ‘System settings’ > ‘Equalizer’ > ‘My EQ setup’.
  • Turn and press the ENTER/SCAN to choose ‘Bass’ or ‘Treble’.
  • Turn and press the ENTER/SCAN to set the level from ‘-7‘ (low) to ‘+7’ (high).

To switch the loudness setting on or off:

  • Press and hold the MENU button to view the main menu.
  • Turn and press the ENTER/SCAN to select ‘System settings’ > ‘Equalizer’ > ‘My EQ setup’.
  • Turn and the ENTER/SCAN to scroll down to ‘Loudness’.
  • Press the ENTER/SCAN to toggle the loudness setting ‘Yes’ or ‘No ’.

Backlight

You can adjust the duration that the screen is illuminated for and the brightness of the screen.

Timeout

To adjust the duration of the screen backlight before dimming:

  • Press and hold the MENU button to view the main menu
  • Turn and press the ENTER/SCAN to choose ‘System settings’ > ‘Backlight’.
  • Turn and press the ENTER/SCAN to choose ‘Timeout’.
  • Turn and press the ENTER/SCAN to choose a timeout setting. To specify that the backlight should always remain on, choose ‘On’.

On level

  • Press and hold the MENU button to view the main menu
  • Turn and press the ENTER/SCAN to choose ‘System settings’ > ‘Backlight’.
  • Turn and press the ENTER/SCAN to choose ‘On Level’.
  • Turn and press the ENTER/SCAN to choose between ‘High’, ‘Medium’ or ‘Low’.

Dim level

  • Press and hold the MENU button to view the main menu.
  • Turn and press the ENTER/SCAN to choose ‘System settings’ > ‘Backlight’.
  • Turn and press the ENTER/SCANt o choose ‘Dim Level’.
  • Turn and press the ENTER/SCAN to choose between ‘High’, ‘Medium’, ‘Low’.

Changing your preferred language

You can select the language for menus and options.

  • Press and hold the MENU button to view the main menu.
  • Turn and press the ENTER/SCAN to choose ‘System settings’ > ‘Language’.
  • Turn and press the ENTER/SCAN to select a menu language.

Carrying out a factory reset

Resetting removes all presets, stored stations, alarms and resets all other options to default settings.

  • Press and hold the MENU button to view the main menu…
  • Turn and press the ENTER/SCAN to choose ‘System settings’ > ‘Factory Reset’.
  • Turn and press the ENTER/SCAN to select ‘Yes’ to reset factory settings. Select ‘No’ if you do not want to reset to factory settings.
