Caution: Please read this manual carefully before operating.
Damage caused by misuse is not covered by the warranty.

Introduction

Thank you for purchasing the HAZYR-PRO haze machine. This product has been designed to provide controlled haze effects for stage productions and themed events. Please read and keep this manual in order to achieve the best results from this equipment and avoid damage through misuse.

If you find any accessory is missing or the machine has arrived with any problems, please contact your local dealer at once. Please keep the original package and invoice for any possible replacement or returned demand.

Warning

To prevent risk of fire or electric shock, do not expose electrical parts to rain or moisture.
If liquids are spilled on areas other than inside the fluid tank, disconnect the mains, allow the HAZYR-PRO to dry out and have it checked by qualified personnel before further use. Avoid any impact, dropping or extreme pressure to the housing. No user serviceable parts inside – do not open the case. Allow the HAZYR-PRO to acclimatize to room temperature before operating.

Placement

The HAZYR-PRO has a built-in fluid container – please ensure that the cap is securely sealed and the bottle is not inverted, which may cause it to leak into the machine. The HAZYR-PRO is built into its own flight case, which should be positioned on a stable surface. Do not operate the machine with the lids fastened.

Safety

  • Check for correct mains voltage and condition of IEC lead before connecting to mains
  • This unit must be earthed
  • This unit uses a heating element – be aware that parts of the housing may be hot in use!

Cleaning

  • Use a soft dry or slightly damp to clean the casing
  • Do not use strong solvents for cleaning the housing or case
  • Clean the haze mechanism periodically by operating with distilled water instead of haze
  • It is also recommended to use fog machine cleaning fluid (160.670UK) periodically.

Recommended fluid

For the HAZYR-PRO haze machine, we strongly recommend the following fluid which has been specifically formulated to perform best with any heater-based haze machines.

Front panel

Front panel

  1. IEC mains inlet & fuse holder
  2. DMX input (3-pin XLR)
  3. DMX output (3-pin XLR)
  4. DMX input (5-pin XLR)
  5. DMX output (5-pin XLR)
  6. Fluid intake (connected to fluid tank)
  7. Angle adjustable haze outlet aperture

Setting up

Unfasten front and rear lids of the flight case. Unscrew the top cap of the tank and remove to fill with haze fluid. Replace the bottle and screw the cap securely, making sure that the pipe is fed fully into the bottle to ensure a consistent flow of fluid.

If required, the rear control panel can be released and used as a wired remote control by unfastening the 2 securing screws (already connected via a 5-pin lead)

If DMX512 is to be used for control, connect the DMX signal from the controller to the DMX IN XLR connector. Any further DMX controlled units may be connected via the DMX OUT XLR connector. Use 3-pin or 5-pin as required. (2, 3, 4, 5)

Connect the IEC lead supplied to a suitable outlet (1), ensuring correct voltage. Heat up time is only 30-40 seconds before the HAZYR-PRO is ready to use.

Pull forward the output aperture (7) to direct the flow of haze to the required angle. Ensure that this output is not obstructed and a safe distance away from people.

Operation

To operate the HAZYR-PRO in standalone mode, use the 6-button control beneath the LED display on the rear panel as described below.

Display (FUNCTION) Setting (UP/DOWN) Description
Interval Set 0s -200s (seconds) Pause time between haze output
Duration Set 0s -200s (seconds) Duration time of haze output
DMX-512 add 1-512 Set the DMX start address
Fluid Set ON Low Fluid shutdown on
OFF Low Fluid shutdown off
Volume Set 1% – 100% Set the haze output volume
Fan Speed Set 1% – 100% Set the fan speed

To produce haze any time, press the MANUAL button (releasing stops the haze) For continuous haze output, press START/STOP (press again to stop)

To initiate a timed output, using FUNCTION and UP/DOWN buttons, set the required Duration (haze output) and Interval (no haze output) times, Volume and Fan Speed and then press TIMER to initiate the timer (time countdown will show in the display)

To operate remotely via DMX, use FUNCTION and UP/DOWN buttons to set the DMX start address and then operate across 3 DMX channels as described below (Note: If a DMX signal is being received, this will override Manual or Timer modes)

The Fluid Set function is a safety feature which disables the haze output when fluid is below a minimum level. This can be set to on or off, depending upon whether this safety feature is needed or if it causes unexpected cutting out during operation.

DMX channel Value Function
Channel 1 (start address) 000-127 Haze output ON
128-255 Haze output OFF
Channel 2 (start address + 1) 000-255 Fan speed slow to fast
Channel 3 (start address + 2) 000-255 Haze output volume 0-100%

After use, switch off the haze output and wait until no more haze is produced.
Unplug from the mains supply and allow the unit to cool down.
Empty the fluid tank and replace the control panel (if detached) before fitting the lids and moving the HAZYR-PRO.

Troubleshooting

Warning: Hot components! … Switch off and allow to cool before touching the unit.

No backlight on control panel display (or fan not working)| Remove the control panel and check 5-pin connection inside
---|---
Check mains voltage is correct and socket is switched on
Check IEC lead is OK and connected properly
Check mains fuse in IEC connector and fuse in plug top
If fuse blowing repeatedly, refer to qualified service personnel
Control panel display is on but no haze output on manual or continuous mode| Check fluid level in tank (check “Fluid Set” in menu)
If fluid level is OK and pump working, the lines may be blocked
Check that output is not set to minimum on the control panel
If blocked, clean with fog machine cleaner & distilled water
Check that if DMX mode is selected, the DMX channel is correct
In DMX mode, check that haze output is not set to minimum
Difficulty in determining when haze is on or off| At lower volume or time settings, there may be residual haze fluid in the system which continues to produce haze even when haze is not activated. This can appear as a continuous flow even though haze output is off.
