Many events in the operating environment may affect the tightening process and shall require validation of results. In compliance with applicable standards and/or regulations, we hereby require you to check the installed torque and rotational direction after any event that can influence the tightening result. Examples of such events include but are not limited to:
• initial installation of the cooling system
• change of part batch, bolt, screw batch, tool, software, configuration or
environment

This tool may cause hand-arm vibration syndrome if its use is not adequately managed. Information Regarding Article 33 in REACH
The European Regulation (EU) No. 1907/2006 on Registration, Evaluation, Authorization, and restriction of Chemicals (REACH) defines among other things requirements related to communication in the supply chain. On 27 June 2018 lead metal (CAS nr 7439-92-1) was added to the Candidate List. Statement of Use

- This product and its accessories must not be modified in any way.
- Do not use this product if it has been damaged.
- If the product data or hazard warning signs on the product cease to be legible or become detached, replace them without delay.
- The product must only be installed, operated, and serviced by qualified personnel in an industrial environment.
Intended Use
- This product is designed for installing and removing threaded fasteners in wood, metal, or plastic. Indoor use only.
- No other use is permitted.
Product Specific Instructions
Warning / Important
All locally legislated safety rules regarding installation, operation, and maintenance shall be respected at all times.
- The tool together with any attachments or accessories must never be used for anything other than the designed, purpose.
- This product must not be used in explosive atmospheres.
- Only use power sockets.
- When using a suspension yoke, check that it is in good condition and correctly fastened.
- Be prepared for the reaction force which will occur when the tool is used.
- Make sure that the tool is in good working order and that the controller is correctly programmed before use to avoid unexpected behaviour from the tool which may result in operator injury.
- Straight and pistol nu trunners are used together with a torque reaction bar. Please be aware of the rotational direction of the spindle before starting the tool, the reaction force may work in an unexpected direction with the risk of crush injuries.
- Never put your hand near or close to the reaction bar while the tool is being used.
- Check the function of the earth fault protector and ground loop continuity on regular basis according to instructions in the controller instructions.
- Always keep the controller locked.
- Refer installation and servicing to qualified personnel only.
- The product does not contain customer serviceable or replaceable components. Service should only be performed by Atlas Copco Industrial Technique AB.
General Installation Safety
- Refer the installation to qualified personnel only.
- Hang the tool securely, by for example using a balancer.
- When using a suspension yoke, check that it is in good condition and correctly fastened.
- For corded tools: Always connect the system to an earthed outlet. Always make sure that the mains plug is disconnected and the controller is turned off before connecting or disconnecting the tool cable.
- The tool may only be used together with the associated torque reaction bar, which is adapted to the screw joint application concerned.
- Check the rotational direction of the tool before start! A start in an unexpected rotational direction can cause bodily injury or property damage. Moving parts can crush and cut.
- Make sure that the rotational direction of the tool is correct before starting the tool.
- Keep hands and fingers away from moving parts.
General Operation Safety
- Due to entanglement risk, do not wear gloves.
- Be prepared for the reaction force which will occur
- when the tool is used. Always support the tool’s handle securely in the direction opposite to the spindle rotation, in order to reduce the effect of sudden torque reaction during final tightening and initial loosening.
- Never hold the drive, socket, or drive extension.
- Operators and maintenance personnel must be physically able to handle the bulk, weight, and power of the tool.
- If possible, use a suspension arm to absorb the reaction torque. If that is not possible, side handles are recommended for straight-case and pistol-grip tools; reaction bars are recommended for angle nu trunners.
- It is recommended to use a means to absorb the reaction torque above 4 Nm (3 lb.ft) for straight-case tools, above 10 Nm (7.5 lb.ft) for pistol-grip tools, and above 60 Nm (44 lb. ft) for angle nu runners.
- Serious injury can result from over-torqued or under-torqued fasteners. Assemblies requiring a specific torque must be checked using a torque meter. So-called “click” torque wrenches do not check for potentially dangerous over-torqued conditions. Over-torqued or under- torqued fasteners can break, loosen, or separate. Released assemblies can become projectiles.
- Use only power or impact sockets in good condition.
- Do not use hand sockets.
- When using a power tool, the operator may feel discomfort in the hands, arms, shoulders, neck, or other parts of the body. Vary between appropriate postures throughout the work day, maintain a secure footing and avoid awkward or off-balance postures.
- Repetitive work motions, awkward positions and exposure to vibration can be harmful to hands and arms. If numbness, tingling, pain or whitening of the skin occurs, stop using tool and consult a physician.
- Take caution when operating in confined spaces. Beware of crushing hands between tool and workpiece.
- High sound levels can cause permanent hearing loss.Use hearing protection as recommended by your employer or occupational health and safety regulations.
- Ensure that the workpiece is securely fixed.
- Proceed with care in unfamiliar surroundings. Be aware of potential hazards created by your work activity.
- This tool is not insulated from coming into contact with electric power sources.
Tools used together with a reaction bar: Never put your hand near or close to the reaction bar while the tool is being used. Be aware of the rotational direction of the spindle before starting the tool, the reaction force may work in an unexpected direction with risk of crushing injuries.
For tools containing a clutch: Immediately after adjusting the clutch, check for correct operation.
General Service and Maintenance Safety
Always keep the controller switched off during service in order to avoid unexpected start-ups. Refer servicing to qualified personnel only.
Cleaning Instructions
Clean parts with a damp cloth. Only use water, no cleansers containing solvents should be used. Contact your Atlas Copco service technician for cleaning advice as per current recommendations and for your particular tool.
Preventing ESD Problems
The components inside the product and controller are sensitive to electrostatic discharge. To avoid future malfunction, make sure that service and maintenance is carried out in an ESD-approved work environment. The figure below shows an example of an appropriate service workstation.
Additional Safety Warnings for Battery Tools
Battery tool use and care
- Recharge only with the charger specified by the manufacturer.
- A charger that is suitable for one type of battery pack may create a risk of fire when used with another battery pack.
- Use power tools only with specifically designated battery packs. The use of any other battery packs may create a risk of injury and fire.
- When the battery pack is not in use, keep it away from other metal objects, like paper clips, coins, keys, nails, screws, or other small metal objects, that can make a connection from one terminal to another. Shorting the battery terminals together may cause burns or a fire.
- Under abusive conditions, liquid may be ejected from the battery; avoid contact. If contact accidentally occurs, flush with water. If liquid contacts the eyes, additionallyseek medical help. Liquid ejected from the battery may cause irritation or burns.
- Do not use a battery pack or tool that is damaged or modified. Damaged or modified batteries may exhibit unpredictable behaviour resulting in fire, explosion or risk of injury.
- Do not expose a battery pack or tool to fire or excessive temperature. Exposure to fire or temperature above 130 °C may cause an explosion.
- Follow all charging instructions and do not charge the battery pack or tool outside the temperature range specified in the instructions. Charging improperly or at temperatures outside the specified range may damage the battery and increase the risk of fire.
Service
- Have your power tool serviced by a qualified repair person using only identical replacement parts. This will ensure that the safety of the power tool is maintained.
- Never service damaged battery packs. Service of battery packs should only be performed by the manufacturer or authorized service providers.
General Power Tool Safety Warnings
WARNING

- The term “power tool” in the warnings refers to your mains-operated (corded) power tool or battery-operated (cordless) power tool.
Work area safety
- Keep work area clean and well lit. Cluttered or dark areas invite accidents.
- Do not operate power tools in explosive atmospheres, such as in the presence of flammable liquids, gases or dust. Power tools create sparks that may ignite thedust or fumes.
- Keep children and bystanders away while operating a power tool. Distractions can cause you to lose control.
Electrical safety
- Power tool plugs must match the outlet. Never modify the plug in any way. Do not use any adapter plugs with earthed (grounded) power tools. Unmodified plugs and matching outlets will reduce risk of electric shock.
- Avoid body contact with earthed or grounded surfaces, such as pipes, radiators, ranges, and refrigerators.
- There is an increased risk of electric shock if your body is earthed or grounded.
- Do not expose power tools to rain or wet conditions. Water entering a power tool will increase the risk of electric shock.
- Do not abuse the cord. Never use the cord for carrying, pulling or unplugging the power tool. Keep cord away from heat, oil, sharp edges or moving parts.
- Damaged or entangled cords increase the risk of electric shock.
- When operating a power tool outdoors, use an extension cord suitable for outdoor use. Use of a cord suitable for outdoor use reduces the risk of electric shock.
- If operating a power tool in a damp location is unavoidable, use a residual current device (RCD) protected supply. Use of an RCD reduces the risk of electric shock.
Personal safety
- Stay alert, watch what you are doing, and use common sense when operating a power tool. Do not use the ampower tool while you are tired or under the influence of drugs, alcohol or medication. A moment of inattention while operating power tools may result in serious personal injury.
- Use personal protective equipment. Always wear eye protection. Protective equipment such as dust masks, non-skid safety shoes, hard hat, or hearing protection used for appropriate conditions will reduce personal injuries.
- Prevent unintentional starting. Ensure the switch is in the off-position before connecting to a power source and/or battery pack, picking up or carrying the tool. Carrying power tools with your finger on the switch or energizing power tools that have the switch on invites accidents.
- Remove any adjusting key or wrench before turning the power tool on. A wrench or a key left attached to a rotating part of the power tool may result in personal injury.
- Do not overreach. Keep proper footing and balance at all times. This enables better control of the power tool in unexpected situations.
- Dress properly. Do not wear loose clothing or jewelry. Keep your hair and clothing away from moving parts. Loose clothes, jewelry or long hair can be caught in moving parts.
- If devices are provided for the connection of dust extraction and collection facilities, ensure these are connected and properly used. Use of dust collection can reduce dust-related hazards.
- Do not let familiarity gained from frequent use of tools allow you to become complacent and ignore tool safety principles. A careless action can cause severe injury within a fraction of a second.
- Hold the power tool by insulated gripping surfaces, when performing an operation where the fastener may contact hidden wiring or its own cord. Fasteners contacting a “live” wire may make exposed metal parts of the power tool “live” and could give the operator an electric shock.
Power tool use and care
- Do not force the power tool. Use the correct power tool for your application. The correct power tool will do the job better and safer at the rate for which it was designed.
- Do not use the power tool if the switch does not turn it on and off. Any power tool that cannot be controlled with the switch is dangerous and must be repaired.
- Disconnect the plug from the power source and/or the battery pack, if detachable, from the power tool before making any adjustments, changing accessories, or storing power tools. Such preventive safety measures reduce the risk of starting the power tool accidentally.
- Store idle power tools out of the reach of children and do not allow persons unfamiliar with the power tool or these instructions to operate the power tool. Power tools are dangerous in the hands of untrained users.
- Maintain power tools and accessories. Check for misalignment or binding of moving parts, breakage of parts and any other condition that may affect the power tool’s operation. If damaged, have the power tool repaired before use. Many accidents are caused by poorly maintained power tools.
- Keep cutting tools sharp and clean. Properly maintained cutting tools with sharp cutting edges are less likely to bind and are easier to control.
- Use the power tool, accessories and tool bits etc. in accordance with these instructions, taking into account the working conditions and the work to be performed.
- Use of the power tool for operations different from those intended could result in a hazardous situation.
- Keep handles and grasping surfaces dry, clean and free from oil and grease. Slippery handles and grasping surfaces do not allow for safe handling and control of the tool in unexpected situations.
