9.  AC adaptor is used as disconnect device and it should remain readily operable during intended use. In order to disconnect the apparatus from the mains completely, the AC adaptor should be disconnected form the mains socket outlet completely.

11. Use only with a cart, stand, tripod, bracket, or table recommended by the manufacturer, or sold with the product. When a cart is used, use caution when moving the cart/apparatus combination to avoid injury from tip-over.

12. Unplug this apparatus during lightning storms or when unused for a
    long period of time.

Servicing is required when the apparatus has been damaged in any way, such as power-supply cord or plug is damaged, liquid has been spilled or objects have fallen into the apparatus, the apparatus has been exposed to rain or moisture, does not operate normally, or has been dropped.

18. Power Sources – This product should be operated only from the type of power source indicated on the marking label. If you are not sure of the type of power supply to your home, consult your product dealer or local power company. For products intended to operate from battery power, or other sources, refer to the operating instruction.

19. Object and Liquid Entry – Never push objects of any kind into this product through openings as they may touch dangerous voltage points or short-out parts that could result in a fire or electric shock. Never spill liquid of any kind on the product.

20. Damage Requiring Service – Unplug this product from the wall outlet and refer servicing to qualified service personnel under the following conditions:

    • When the power-supply cord or plug is damaged,
    • If liquid has been spilled, or objects have fallen into the product,
    • If the product has been exposed to rain or water,
    • If the product does not operate normally by following the operating instructions. Adjust only those controls that are covered by the operating instructions as an improper adjustment of other controls may result in damage and will often require extensive work by a qualified technician to restore the product to its normal operation.

PROTECT YOUR FURNITURE

This system is equipped with non-skid rubber ‘feet’ to prevent the product from moving when you operate the controls. These ‘feet’ are made from non- migrating rubber material specially formulated to avoid leaving any marks or stains on your furniture. However certain types of oil based furniture polishes, wood preservatives, or cleaning sprays may cause the rubber ‘feet’ to soften, and leave marks or a rubber residue on the furniture.
To prevent any damage to your furniture we strongly recommend that you purchase small self-adhesive felt pads, available at hardware stores and home improvement centers everywhere, and apply these pads to the bottom of the rubber ‘feet’ before you place the product on fine wooden furniture.

POWER SOURCE

This unit operates using the included AC-AC Adaptor or on 4 X AA batteries (not included). If the low battery icon appears on the display, install or replace fresh “AA” batteries.

AC POWER OPERATION

An AC-AC Adaptor with the output AC ~ 6V/200mA (included) is required for operating the main unit in AC power mode.

1. To connect the AC-AC Adaptor to the unit, firmly and securely insert the AC plug of the adaptor into the AC Jack located on the right hand side of the back of the unit.
   

2. Plug the AC-AC Adaptor plug into a household AC outlet that supplies 120V AC ~ 60Hz. Connecting this system to any other power source may cause damage to the system.

NOTE: When the AC-AC adaptor is connected to the AC Jack, the batteries are automatically disconnected. Be sure to use an AC-AC adaptor with a rating of AC ~ 6V/200 mA.

BATTERY OPERATION

1. Open the Battery Door on the bottom of the unit.

2. Following the polarity (+ and -) diagrams shown inside the battery compartment, insert 4 ‘AA’ (UM-3) batteries (not included).
   Note: For optimum performance, alkaline-type batteries are recommended.

3. Replace the Battery Door.
   IMPORTANT: Be sure that the batteries are installed correctly. Wrong polarity may damage the unit.

BATTERY NOTE AND CARE

• Batteries shall not be exposed to excessive heat such as sunshine, fire or the like.
• Be sure that all batteries are installed correctly. Wrong polarity may damage the unit.
• Do not mix old and new batteries.
• Do not mix alkaline, standard (carbon-zinc) or rechargeable (nickel-cadmium) batteries.
• Only batteries of the same or equivalent type as recommend are to be used.
• If the unit is not be used for an extended period of time, remove all batteries. Old or leaking battery can cause damage to the unit and may void the warranty.
• Do not dispose batteries in fire. Batteries may leak or explode.
• Danger of explosion if battery is incorrectly replaced.

LOW BATTERY INDICATOR

When using battery power to operate this unit and the battery power becomes weak, the LOW BATTERY ICON (#16) will appear on the display. We recommend you replace the exhausted batteries immediately.
The low battery icon will also appear on the display if you are using the AC adaptor, and do not have batteries installed.

NOTE: The speaker is not magnetically shielded and may cause color distortion on the screen of some TVs or video monitors. To avoid this, you may need to move the unit further away from the TV or monitor if unnatural color shifts or image distortion occurs.

STANDBY MODE

Standby Mode is when the unit is first plugged into an AC power source (display flashing), or after all the settings have been made and the time is showing on the display. The radio, and Aux-in modes are all off, no buttons are pressed and no alarms are sounding.

SETTING THE CLOCK

The LCD DISPLAY (#12) will flash when the unit is plugged in for the first time. The unit is now in standby mode.

1. In standby mode, press and hold the CLOCK SET BUTTON (#4) until the 12 Hr or 24 Hr flash on the LCD DISPLAY (#12).

2.  Tap the TUNE – or TUNE + BUTTONS (#5 or #7) to select either 24-hour time mode or 12-hour time mode. Select 12-hour mode.

3.  Tap the CLOCK SET BUTTON (#4) again to confirm the selection.

4. The display will change to the clock and the hour digits will begin flashing.

5. Repeatedly tap the TUNE – or TUNE + BUTTONS (#5 or #7) to set the hour. Press and hold the TUNE – or TUNE + BUTTONS (#5 or #7) to quickly scan through the hour digits if needed.
   Note: AM and PM ICONS (#20 & #21) are located above the clock digits on the LCD DISPLAY (#12). Be sure that AM ICON (#20) is on if you want the set hours to be AM, or the PM ICON (#21) is on if you want the set hours to be PM.

6. Press the CLOCK SET BUTTON (#4) to confirm the hours. The minute digits will begin flashing.

7. Repeatedly tap the TUNE – or TUNE + BUTTONS (#5 or #7) to set the minutes. Press and hold the TUNE – or TUNE + BUTTONS (#5 or #7) to quickly scan through the minute digits if needed.

8.  Tap the CLOCK SET BUTTON (#4) to confirm the minutes and complete the time setting process. The display will stop flashing and show the set time.
   Note: If the unit was reset, you need to set the clock again.

ALARM OPERATION

The unit features a dual alarm clock. Setting Alarm 1:

1. In standby mode, press and hold the ALARM 1 BUTTON (#8).

2. The ALARM 1 ICON (#22) will begin flashing and will continue flashing while setting alarm 1.

3. Either “ON” or “OFF” will also begin flashing on the LCD DISPLAY (#12). Tap the TUNE

   • or TUNE + BUTTONS (#5 or # 7) to change between “ON” (Alarm 1 ON) or “OFF”
     (Alarm 1 OFF). Select “ON” (Alarm 1 ON) in order to set the alarm.

4. Tap the ALARM 1 BUTTON (#8) again to confirm the selection. The display will change to the alarm time and the hour digits will begin flashing.

5. Repeatedly tap the TUNE – or TUNE + BUTTONS (#5 or #7) to set the hour. Press and hold the TUNE – or TUNE + BUTTONS (#5 or #7) to quickly scan through the hour digits if needed.
   Note: AM and PM ICONS (#20 & #21) are located above the clock digits on the LCD DISPLAY (#12). Be sure that AM ICON (#20) is on if you want the set hours to be AM, or the PM ICON (#21) is on if you want the set hours to be PM.

6. Tap the ALARM 1 BUTTON (#8) to confirm the hours. The minute digits will begin flashing.

7. Repeatedly tap the TUNE – or TUNE + BUTTONS (#5 or #7) to set the minutes. Press and hold the TUNE – or TUNE + BUTTONS (#5 or #7) to quickly scan through the minute digits if needed.

8. Tap the ALARM 1 BUTTON (#8) to confirm the minute setting. The wake up options will show on the LCD DISPLAY (#12).
   bUZ = wake to a beeping alarm
   rAd = wake to the last radio station you listened to

9. Tap the TUNE – or TUNE + BUTTONS (#5 or #7) to select the wake up option (Alarm or Radio).

10. Press the ALARM 1 BUTTON (#8) to confirm and complete setting ALARM 1.

Setting Alarm 2:
Follow Steps 1-10 above, but use the ALARM 2 BUTTON (#10) in place of the ALARM 1 BUTTON (#8).

Wake to Radio (FM, AM or WEATHER)

• If “rAd” was selected, the Radio will automatically turn on when the alarm time is reached. The corresponding ALARM 1 ICON (#22) or ALARM 2 ICON (#23) will flash.
•  The unit will turn on and play the last radio station and band you listed to (FM, AM or Weather) when the wake time is reached, so make sure the band and station is set to the one you want to wake up to.
•  The volume level will gradually increase from low to high. This cannot be changed.
•  Press the SNOOZE BUTTON (#11) to temporarily turn off the radio, or tap he ALARM 1

BUTTON (#8), ALARM 2 BUTTON (#10) or BUTTON (#9) to turn the alarm off. If no buttons are pressed when the radio is playing, it will continue playing for 60 minutes and then turn off automatically.

Wake to Alarm

• A beeping Alarm will automatically turn on when the alarm time is reached. The corresponding ALARM 1 ICON (#22) or ALARM 2 ICON (#23) will flash.
• Press the SNOOZE BUTTON (#11) to temporarily turn off the alarm, or tap the ALARM

If no buttons are pressed when the alarm is sounding, it will continue sounding for 60 minutes and then turn off automatically

Turning the alarm ON or OFF

1. In standby mode, press and hold the ALARM 1 BUTTON (#8).
2. The ALARM 1 ICON (#22) will begin flashing.
3.  Either “ON” or “OFF” will also begin flashing on the LCD DISPLAY (#12).
4. Tap the TUNE – or TUNE + BUTTONS (#5 or # 7) to change between “ON” (Alarm 1 ON) or “OFF” (Alarm 1 OFF).
5. Select “ON” (Alarm 1 ON) in order to have alarm 1 wake you.
6. Select “OFF” (Alarm 1 OFF) to disable Alarm 1.
7. After a few seconds the display will automatically switch back to the time.

Follow Steps 1-7 above, but use the ALARM 2 BUTTON (#10) in place of the ALARM 1 BUTTON (#8) to turn Alarm 2 ON or OFF.

Review the Alarm time setting:

1. In standby mode, press and hold the ALARM 1 BUTTON (#8), The ALARM 1 icon (#22) and the On/Off setting show on the LCD DISPLAY (#12) and flash.
2. Tap the ALARM 1 BUTTON (#8) to check the hour of the alarm time.
3. Tap the ALARM 1 BUTTON (#8) again to check the minute of the alarm time.
4. Tap the ALARM 1 BUTTON (#8) again to check the wake up option.
5.  Tap the ALARM 1 BUTTON (#8) again return to standby mode.
6. Review the ALARM 2 setting uses the same steps above, but using the ALARM 2 BUTTON (#10) in place of the ALARM 1 BUTTON (#8).

Notes:

• For setting a one-day alarm, just set the desired alarm time one day before.
• The alarm will sound at the time set the day prior. After having switched off the alarm sound, press and hold the corresponding alarm button and follow the above step 1 & 2 to disable the alarm (the alarm icon will off).
• To set another one-day alarm, just repeat the above steps.

SNOOZE FUNCTION

When the alarm sounds, tap the SNOOZE BUTTON (#11) to temporarily turn off the alarm and activate the snooze function, the alarm will stop and turn on again 9 minutes later. This can be repeated when the alarm sounds again.
NOTES:

• The corresponding ALARM 1 or ALARM 2 ICONS (#22 or #23) flash on the LCD DISPLAY (#12) during the snooze period.
•  To cancel the snooze function and alarm, tap the BUTTON (#9).

LISTENING TO THE RADIO

1. Tap the BUTTON (#9) to turn on the unit.

2.  Tap the SOURCE BUTTON (#9) repeatedly to select AM/FM/Weather band/Weather band Alert in below sequence. FM -> AM -> AUX -> WB -> WB ALERT

3. Tap the SOURCE BUTTON (#9) repeatedly to select either FM or AM radio mode

4. Manual Tuning: Repeatedly tap the TUNE – or TUNE + BUTTONS (#5 or #7) to
   manually adjust the frequency.

5. Automatic Tuning: Press and hold the TUNE – or TUNE + BUTTONS (#5 or #7) to
   automatically tune to the next or previous available station.

6. Tap the VOLUME – / + BUTTONS (#8 / #10) to obtain the desired volume level.

7.  Press and hold the BUTTON (#9) to turn the radio off

Notes:

• Use Manual Tuning to select weaker stations that might be skipped during Automatic Tuning.
• If the Automatic Tuning does not stop on the exact frequency of the station, for example, it stops on 88.9 MHz instead of 88.8 MHz, use the manual tuning method to “fine tune” to the exact frequency of the desired station.
• When in radio mode, the display will automatically switch back to show the time after a few seconds.
•  When listening to the radio, you can check the frequency of the station you are listening by tapping the TUNE – or TUNE + BUTTONS (#5 or #7) once. The unit will automatically return to show the time if you do not tap any button within 10 seconds.

HINTS FOR BEST RECEPTION

• The AM antenna is located inside the cabinet of the unit. If AM reception is weak, change the position of unit until the internal antenna picks up the strongest signal.
• To insure maximum FM tuner reception, the Telescopic Antenna should be fully extended and rotated to obtain the best possible station reception.

PRESET RADIO STATIONS

The unit allows you to store up to 20 FM stations and 20 AM stations for easy recall at any time.

1.  Tap the BUTTON (#9) to turn the unit ON.
2. Tap the SOURCE BUTTON (#9) repeatedly to select AM or FM mode.
3. Tune to the desired radio station either by “manually” or “automatically” tuning method.
4. Press and hold the MEM/MEM+ BUTTON (#4) to enable the program function. The preset number “P01” will show on the LCD display and flash.
5. Tap the TUNE – or TUNE + BUTTONS (#5 or #7) to select the preset number you want to assign the station to.
6. Press the MEM/MEM+ BUTTON (#4) to save the station, display will show radio station frequency.
7. Repeat above steps 3-6 to store other stations.
   Note: If you select an existing preset memory, the new radio station frequency will replace the existing one

RECALL PRESET MEMORY CHANNELS

To recall one of the preset stations already programmed, tap the MEM/MEM+ BUTTON (#4) once, the preset number “P01” will show on the LCD DISPLAY (#12), then press the TUNE – or TUNE + BUTTONS (#5 or #7) repeatedly until you reach the desired preset number/radio station.

LISTENING TO A WEATHER BAND CHANNEL

Weather Band Radio

1. Tap the BUTTON (#9) to turn the unit ON.

2. Tap the SOURCE BUTTON (#9) repeatedly to select weather band. The WB ICON (#18) and the channel frequency will show on the LCD DISPLAY (#12).

3.  Tap the TUNE – or TUNE + BUTTONS (#5 or #7) to select the weather band channel for
   your area..

4. Press the VOLUME – / + BUTTONS (#8 / #10) to obtain the desired sound level.

5. When listening to the weather band radio, you can check the frequency of the channel you are listening by tapping the TUNE – or TUNE + BUTTONS (#5 or #7) once. The unit will automatically return to show the time if you do not tap any button within 10 seconds.

6. To turn the radio off, press and hold the BUTTON (#9).

Weather Band Channel Frequency Table

Note: With regard to the NOAA Weather Band: You need to identify which band receives your local weather band report. When you change locations either to another city or state, you may need to choose a different band to get the local report in that location.

HINTS FOR BEST RECEPTION

• To insure maximum weather band reception, the Telescopic Antenna should be fully extended and rotated to obtain the best possible station reception.

Notes:

1. The radio will continue to drain the battery if it’s left in Weather Standby Mode, so it is highly recommended that you use AC adaptor to prevent the battery from completely draining and turning the radio off while in use.
2. NOAA Weather band is a service broadcast of the U.S. Government and available in all 50 states, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
3. The NOAA Weather Service broadcasts a test alert every Wednesday between 11 am and Noon. To receive the broadcasts, the radio must be within the range of the local broadcast site, 10 – 40 miles, depending on terrain and obstructions.

Weather Band Radio Alert

1. Tap the BUTTON (#9) to turn the unit ON.
2.  Tap the SOURCE BUTTON (#9) repeatedly to select weather band alert mode. The WB ICON (#18) and ALERT ICON (#17) will light on the LCD DISPLAY (#12).
3. Tap the TUNE – or TUNE + BUTTONS (#5 or #7) to select the weather band channel for your area.
4. When the alert signal is received, the ALERT LED RING (#2) on the top of the unit will flash and ALERT ICON (#17) and WARNING ICON (#25) will flash at the bottom of the LCD DISPLAY (#12).
5. To stop the alert warning, tap SOURCE BUTTON (#9) once. The unit will switch from alert mode to weather band radio mode.
6. To turn the radio off, press and hold the BUTTON (#9).

AUXILIARY INPUT

This unit provides an AUX IN JACK (#14) for connecting external audio devices like MP3 players, CD players or smart phones to listen to your external source through the speakers of this system.

1. Use an audio cable (not included) with one 3.5 mm stereo plug on each end of the cable.
2. Plug one end into the AUX IN JACK (#14) on the main unit and the other end of the cable into the Line-out Jack or Headphone Jack of your external audio device.
3.  Turn on the external audio device.
4. To select auxiliary audio input, tap the SOURCE BUTTON (#9) to select AUX mode.
5. The volume level can now be controlled through the main unit. Operate all other functions on the auxiliary device as usual.

Notes:

• Tap the CLOCK SET button (#4) to check the current time. The unit will automatically return to show AUX if you do not tap any button within 10 seconds.
•  If the Line-out Jack of your external device is connected, then you only need to adjust the volume control of this system. If the Headphone Jack of your external device is connected, then you may need to adjust both the volume control of your external device and the volume control of this system to find the most desirable volume setting.
•  Press and hold the BUTTON (#9) to turn off the unit when you finish listening. Don’t forget to switch off the power on your external device as well.

SLEEP OPERATION

The SLEEP TIMER feature allows you to turn off the unit automatically after a designated time has elapsed.

1. Select FM, AM, AUX or Weather band Radio Mode and listen from the selected source.
2.  Tap the SLEEP BUTTON (#11) to enter sleep mode. SLEEP ICON (#26) lights on the LCD DISPLAY (#12).
3. Repeatedly tap the SLEEP BUTTON (#11) to select the sleep timer 15 – 30 – 45 – 60 -75 – 90 – OFF (in minutes). The unit will play for the selected length of time then turn off automatically.
4. To cancel the sleep timer, repeatedly tap the SLEEP BUTTON (#11) until the timer shows OFF.
5.  To turn the unit “Off” before the selected length of time, press and hold the BUTTON (#9) at any time.

Note: Tap the SLEEP BUTTON (#11) once to check the remaining sleep time.

DIMMER OPERATION

Tap the DIMMER BUTTON (#3) repeatedly to select the backlight brightness settings of the display (Low, High or Off).
When the unit is powered by battery, the backlight will turn off for power saving if you do not tap any button within 10 seconds in standby mode.

RESETTING YOUR CLOCK RADIO

If the system does not respond or exhibits erratic or intermittent operation, you may have experienced an electrostatic discharge (ESD) or a power surge that triggered the internal microcontroller to shut down automatically. If this occurs, simply disconnect the AC adaptor and remove the Backup batteries, wait for at least 1 minute and then setup the unit again as if you were using it for the very first time.

CARE AND MAINTENANCE

1. Do not subject the unit to excessive force, shock, dust or extreme temperature.
2. Do not tamper the internal components of the unit.
3. Clean your unit with a dry cloth. Solvent or detergent should never be used.
4. Avoid leaving your unit in direct sunlight or in hot, humid or dusty places.
5. Keep your unit away from heating appliances and sources of electrical noise such as fluorescent lamps or motors.

CAUTION: Never allow any water or other liquids to get inside the unit while cleaning

The unit does not respond (no power)
Power is not on| The unit is disconnected from the AC outlet.| Reconnect to the AC outlet.

The “AA” batteries are exhausted.| Replace all 4 “AA” batteries with fresh ones.

No/low sound when power on the radio

| VOLUME control is set to minimum.| Adjust the VOLUME control.
Station has not been tuned properly.| Tune the station properly.
FM reception is weak.| Extend and rotate the telescopic antenna.
AM reception is weak.| Relocate the position of the unit.
Unit in Weather Alert Mode| Select AM, FM or WB mode as

desired.

No Response to Alerts| Make sure the radio is set to the correct weather channel for your area.| Tune to the correct weather channel for your area.
Unit gets warm after extended play at high volume.| This is normal.| Turn the unit off for a period of time or lower volume.

SPECTRA MERCHANDISING INTERNATIONAL, INC. warrants this unit to be free from defective materials or factory workmanship for a period of 1 year from the date of original customer purchase and provided the product is utilized within the U.S.A. This warranty is not assignable or transferable. Our obligation under this warranty is the repair or replacement of the defective unit or any part thereof, except batteries, when it is returned to the SPECTRA Service Department, accompanied by proof of the date of original consumer purchase, such as a duplicate copy of a sales receipt.
You must pay all shipping charges required to ship the product to SPECTRA for warranty service. If the product is repaired or replaced under warranty, the return charges will be at SPECTRA’s expense. There are no other express warranties other than those stated herein.
This warranty is valid only in accordance with the conditions set forth below:

1. The warranty applies to the SPECTRA product only while:
   • It remains in the possession of the original purchaser and proof of purchase is demonstrated.
   •  It has not been subjected to accident, misuse, abuse, improper service, usage outside the descriptions and warnings covered within the user manual or non-SPECTRA approved modifications.
   • Claims are made within the warranty period.
2. This warranty does not cover damage or equipment failure caused by electrical wiring not in compliance with electrical codes or SPECTRA user manual specifications, or failure to provide reasonable care and necessary maintenance as outlined in the user manual.
3. Warranty of all SPECTRA products applies to residential use only and is void when products are used in nonresidential environment or installed outside the United States.

TO OBTAIN SERVICE please remove all batteries (if any) and pack the unit carefully and send it freight prepaid to SPECTRA at the address shown below. IF THE UNIT IS RETURNED WITHIN THE WARRANTY PERIOD shown above, please include a proof of purchase (dated cash register receipt) so that we may establish your eligibility for warranty service and repair of the unit without cost. Also include a note with a description explaining how the unit is defective. A customer service representative may need to contact you regarding the status of your repair, so please include your name, address, phone number and email address to expedite the process.
