WARNING
READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE USE
To reduce the risk of injury or damage, read and follow the safety precautions
when setting up, using, and maintaining your robot.
GENERAL SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
- Retain the safety and operating instructions for future reference.
- Read all safety and operating instructions before operating your robot.
- Heed all warnings on your robot, battery, battery charger, and in the Safety and Compliance Information.
- Follow all operating and use instructions.
INSTRUCTIONS
- POWER ON – Place the robot onto its dock to turn it on.
- STANDBY/SLEEP MODE – Press and hold the robot’s center button for 7 seconds until its light turns off.
- CHARGING – Place the robot onto its dock to charge. While the robot is charging, its light will spin with a bright white light. When the robot is fully charged, its light will display a dimmer, solid white light.
- ROS 2 AND BLUETOOTH® MODES – When the robot is powered on, it’s light will: (a) glow blue while disconnected in Bluetooth mode, (b) turn off while connected in Bluetooth mode, or (c) glow white while in ROS 2 mode. To switch modes, remove the robot’s faceplate and toggle the switch that displays the Bluetooth and USB icons.
- FACEPLATE REMOVAL – Place one thumb on each of the faceplate’s two ridged tabs. Rotate the faceplate counter-clockwise until you feel it click out of position, then lift the faceplate up to remove it.
- FACEPLATE REPLACEMENT – Lower the faceplate onto the robot at the same angle as when you removed it. Place one thumb on each of the faceplate’s two ridged tabs and rotate the faceplate clockwise until you feel it click into its final position.
- CARGO BAY REMOVAL/REPLACEMENT – Pull the handle to release the cargo bay, then slide it out. To replace the cargo bay, push it into the robot until you hear a click.
USAGE, CARE AND CLEANING
- This robot is for indoor use on hard surface floors only.
- This robot is not a toy. Do not sit or stand on this device. Small children and pets should be supervised when the robot is operating.
- This robot has electrical parts. Do not submerge it in water. Clean with a cloth dampened with water only.
- Do not use this device to pick up anything that is burning or smoking.
- Do not use this device to pick up large debris, bleach, paint, or other chemicals.
- Before using this robot, remove fragile objects from the project area, including objects on furniture that can fall if the furniture is pushed or bumped.
- Move any power cords as well as cords for blinds and curtains out of the way to reduce the risk of objects being pulled down.
- If the room contains a balcony, a physical barrier should be used to prevent access to the balcony and ensure safe operation.
- Operate and store this robot in room temperature environments only.
- Children should be supervised to ensure they do not play with this robot. Cleaning and maintenance should not be performed by children without supervision.
- Securely mount attachments to the faceplate. Do not rest objects on top of this robot.
- Do not operate this robot in areas with exposed electrical outlets on the floor.
This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory, or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning the use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety. Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.
BATTERY AND CHARGING
- Before every use, check the battery pack for any sign of damage or leakage. Do not charge damaged or leaking battery packs.
- Charge indoors only.
- Only use the included battery charger to charge the iRobot battery.
- Charge using a standard outlet only. The product may not be used with any type of power converter. Use of other power converters will immediately void the warranty.
- Please ensure the voltage rating for the enclosed battery charger matches the standard outlet voltage.
- Never handle the battery charger with wet hands.
- Only use rechargeable battery packs with the correct specifications supplied with your robot by iRobot.
- For a replacement battery pack, visit www.irobot.com.
- Always charge and remove the battery from your robot before long-term storage or transportation.
- Always remove the battery pack before cleaning your robot.
- Keep battery pack clean and dry. Wipe the cell or battery terminals with a clean dry cloth if they become dirty.
- Do not crush, dismantle, or shred battery packs.
- Do not subject cells or batteries to mechanical shock.
- Do not heat the battery pack or place the battery pack near any heat source.
- Do not store in direct sunlight.
- Do not incinerate the battery pack.
- Do not short-circuit the battery pack.
- Do not submerge the battery pack in any liquid.
- The battery pack must be removed from the robot before disposal.
- When disposing of the battery pack, contact your local or regional waste authority for more information on the collection, reuse, and recycling programs.
- In the event of a cell leaking, do not allow the liquid to come into contact with the skin or eyes. If contact has been made, wash the affected area with copious amounts of water and seek medical advice.

- This device complies with part 15 of the FCC Rules. Operation is subject to the following two conditions: (1) This device may not cause harmful interference, and (2) this device must accept any interference received, including interference that may cause undesired operation.
- Changes or modifications not expressly approved by iRobot Corporation could void the user’s authority to operate the equipment.
- This equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a Class B digital device, pursuant to part 15 of the FCC Rules. These limits are designed to provide reasonable protection against harmful interference in a residential installation. This equipment generates, uses, and can radiate radio frequency energy and, if not installed and used in accordance with the instructions, may cause harmful interference to radio communications. However, there is no guarantee that interference to radio communication will not occur in a particular installation. Operation is subject to the following two conditions: 1) This device may not cause interference, and 2) this device must accept any interference, including interference that may cause undesired operation of the device.
- Under Industry Canada regulations, this radio transmitter may only operate using an antenna of a type and maximum (or lesser) gain approved for the transmitter by Industry Canada. To reduce potential radio interference to other users, the antenna type and its gain should be so chosen that the equivalent isotropically radiated power (EIRP) is not more than necessary for successful communication.

- This robot, model STEMB-Y1, incorporates the dual radio modules with the model(s): iRobot model AXF-Y1 and Laird model BT850.
- This robot, model STEMB-Y1 operates in the WLAN 2.4 GHz band. The 2.4 GHz band is limited to operate between 2412 MHz and 2472 MHz with a maximum EIRP output power of 19.1 dBm (81.28 mW) at 2442 MHz.
- This symbol on the battery indicates that the battery must not be disposed of with unsorted common municipal waste, use separate collection facilities. As the end-user, it is your responsibility to dispose of the end-of-life battery in your appliance in an environmentally sensitive manner as follows: (1) return it to the distributor/dealer from whom you purchased the product; or (2) deposit it in a designated collection point.

LIMITED WARRANTY TO ORIGINAL PURCHASER
IF PURCHASED IN THE UNITED STATES, CANADA, AUSTRALIA, OR NEW ZEALAND:

This Limited Warranty to Original Purchaser (this “Limited Warranty”) does not
affect your statutory rights under the laws relating to the sale of consumer
products.
This Create® 3 product (this “Product”), is supplied and distributed by iRobot Corporation (“iRobot”, “We”, “Our”, “Us”) and delivered as manufactured in the carton to the original purchaser (“you”, “your”), is warranted by iRobot against manufacturing defects in materials and workmanship for the qualifying limited warranty period as follows:

Due to the unique nature of this product, you intend to dismantle, adjust, alter, and affect this Product in ways that cannot be fully anticipated by us. This Product’s Limited Warranty begins on the original date of purchase, is valid and enforceable only on Products purchased and used in the United States of America, Canada, Australia, or New Zealand, and does not include installation, removal, or reinstallation. We will not warrant the Product beyond the manufacturing defects and workmanship experienced when first encountering this product upon delivery in the original packaging. We do not warrant the uninterrupted or error-free operation of the Product. This Product includes a battery (the “Battery”), which shall be warranted to be in good working order for
a period of six (6) months from the date of purchase. If the Product or the Battery fails to meet the applicable warranty set forth herein to our reasonable satisfaction, we will repair or replace this Product and/or Battery within a commercially reasonable time, at our option and at no charge, as described below. You may register your Product in order to receive Product- related information and enjoy expedited support from iRobot Customer Care. Failure to register your Product will not diminish your warranty rights. -
If you wish to make a warranty claim, you must contact iRobot for problem determination and service procedures. To obtain warranty service, support, or other information, please visit our website at www. irobot.com or call 877-855-8593. Warranty repairs must be performed by iRobot Corporation’s authorized service center. When you contact iRobot, please have the following ready: (1) your Product serial number, and (2) your original proof of purchase that shows the date of purchase and full details of the Product. Our colleagues will advise you of the process involved in making a claim. Any claim under this Limited Warranty is subject to you notifying us of the alleged defect within a reasonable time of it coming to your attention and, in any case, by no later than the expiry of the applicable warranty period described in Section 1.

If a claim is received within the applicable warranty period and the Product and/or Battery is found to have failed under the applicable warranty we shall, at our option:
- Repair the Product and/or Battery;
- Exchange the Product and/or Battery with a product and/or battery that is new or which has been manufactured from new or serviceable used parts and is at least functionally equivalent to the original Product and/or Battery; or
- Exchange the Product and/or Battery with a product and/or battery that is a new and upgraded model which has at least equivalent or upgraded function to the original Product and/or Battery.
Replacement or repaired Products and/or Batteries, as applicable, will be returned to you as soon as commercially practicable. All replaced parts, Products, and/or Batteries become our property and must be returned to iRobot. If the Product and/or Battery is found not to be covered by this Limited Warranty, we (and our authorized service companies) reserve the right to charge a handling fee. When repairing or replacing a Product or Battery, we may use products or parts that are new, equivalent to new, or reconditioned. As far as applicable laws permit, the applicable warranty period will not be extended, renewed, or otherwise affected due to subsequent exchange, resale, repair, or replacement of the Product and/or Battery. However, Products repaired or replaced during the applicable warranty period will be warranted for the remainder of the original warranty period (if any). Batteries repaired or replaced during the applicable warranty period will be warranted for the remainder of the original warranty period or for ninety (90) days from the date of repair or replacement, whichever is longer.

This Limited Warranty covers manufacturing defects in materials and workmanship in the Product encountered upon purchase directly from iRobot or an iRobot authorized seller/dealer/reseller. Unless agreed in writing, this Limited Warranty will not apply if the defect(s) relate to: normal wear and tear (including, without limitation, wear and tear of the Battery, if applicable); damage that occurs in shipment, or due to a failure to adequately package the Product for transportation; applications or uses for which this Product was not intended; failures or problems which are caused by products or equipment not supplied by iRobot Corporation; accidents, misuse, abuse, neglect, misapplication, fire, water, lightning or other acts of nature; if the Battery has been short-circuited and the seals of the battery enclosure or the cells are broken or show evidence of tampering, or if the Battery has been used in equipment other than those for which it has been specified; incorrect electrical line voltage; damage caused by improper installation; Product alteration or modification, including, but not limited to, willful or deliberate damage, neglect or negligence; improper or unauthorized repair; exterior finish or cosmetic damage; failure to follow operation instructions, or customer adjustments, maintenance and environmental instructions that are covered and prescribed in the instruction book; use of non-iRobot or unauthorized parts, supplies, accessories or equipment; failures or problems due to incompatibility with other equipment; extreme or external causes beyond our reasonable control including, but not limited to, breakdowns, fluctuations, or interruptions in electric power, Internet service provider service, or wireless networks; weak and/or inconsistent wireless signal strength in your home; and/or any Product(s) purchased from unauthorized dealers/resellers. This Limited Warranty does not apply to accessories and other consumable items, such as filters and brushes. This Limited Warranty will be invalid if (a) the Product’s serial number has been removed, erased, defaced, altered, or is illegible in any way (as determined in our sole discretion), or (b) you are in breach of the terms of this Limited Warranty or your contract with us.

This Limited Warranty is your sole and exclusive remedy against iRobot and iRobot’s sole and exclusive liability in respect of defects in your Product. This Limited Warranty is non-transferable and replaces all other iRobot warranties and liabilities, whether oral, written, (non-mandatory) statutory, contractual, in tort or otherwise, including, without limitation, and, where permitted by applicable law, any implied conditions, warranties or other terms as to the satisfactory quality or fitness for purpose.
TO THE EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW(S), iROBOT CORPORATION SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR LOSS OR DAMAGE TO OR CORRUPTION OF DATA, LOSS OF REVENUE OR PROFITS, FAILURE TO REALIZE SAVINGS OR OTHER BENEFITS, LOSS OF USE OF PRODUCTS OR FUNCTIONALITY, LOSS OF BUSINESS, LOSS OF CONTRACTS, INCREASED COSTS OR EXPENSES, OR ANY OTHER INDIRECT, SPECIAL, INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL LOSS OR DAMAGES, REGARDLESS OF THE LEGAL THEORY ON WHICH THE CLAIM IS BASED, AND EVEN IF iROBOT HAS BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES. NOR SHALL RECOVERY OF ANY KIND AGAINST iROBOT CORPORATION BE GREATER IN AMOUNT THAN THE PURCHASE PRICE OF THE PRODUCT SOLD
BY iROBOT CORPORATION AND CAUSING THE ALLEGED DAMAGE. WITHOUT LIMITING THE FOREGOING, YOU ASSUME ALL RISK AND LIABILITY FOR LOSS, DAMAGE, OR INJURY TO YOU AND YOUR PROPERTY AND TO OTHERS AND THEIR PROPERTY ARISING OUT OF THE USE, MISUSE, OR INABILITY TO USE THIS PRODUCT NOT CAUSED DIRECTLY BY THE GROSS NEGLIGENCE OR INTENTIONAL MISCONDUCT OF iROBOT CORPORATION. THE ABOVE LIMITATIONS SHALL NOT APPLY IN CASE OF DEATH OR PERSONAL INJURY RESULTING FROM iROBOT’S PROVEN NEGLIGENCE.
This Limited Warranty shall neither exclude nor limit (a) any of your legal (statutory) rights under the applicable laws, or (b) any of your rights against the seller of the Product. The limitations of warranties, liability, and remedies applicable in the State of New Jersey to the maximum extent permitted by law.
IF PURCHASED IN THE UNITED KINGDOM, SWITZERLAND, OR THE EUROPEAN ECONOMIC AREA, EXCEPT FOR GERMANY:

APPLICABILITY AND CONSUMER PROTECTION RIGHTS
(1) iRobot UK Ltd., 111 Buckingham Palace Road, London SW1W 0SR, United Kingdom (‘iRobot’, ‘We’, ‘Our’ and/or ‘Us’) provides an optional Limited Warranty for this product (the “Product”) to the extent specified under Section 5 which is subject to the following conditions.
(2) This Limited Warranty grants rights independently and in addition to statutory rights under the laws relating to the sale of consumer products. In particular, the Limited Warranty does not exclude or limit such rights. You are free to choose whether to exercise rights under the Limited Warranty or statutory rights under your applicable jurisdiction’s laws relating to the sale of consumer products. The conditions of this Limited Warranty shall not apply to the statutory rights under the laws relating to the sale of consumer products. Also, this Limited Warranty shall neither exclude nor limit any of your rights against the seller of the Product. -
SCOPE OF THE WARRANTY
(1) iRobot warrants that (with the exception of the restrictions in Section 5) this Product shall be free of material and processing defects during the period of two (2) years from the date of purchase (the ‘Warranty Period’). In the event that the Product fails to meet the warranty standard, we will, within a commercially reasonable period of time and free of charge either repair or replace the Product as described below.
(2) This Limited Warranty is only valid and enforceable in the country where you purchased the Product, provided that said country is on the list of specified countries (https://edu.irobot.com/partners/find-a-partner). -
MAKING A CLAIM UNDER THE LIMITED WARRANTY
(1) If you wish to make a warranty claim, please contact your authorized distributor or dealer, a list of which can be found at https://edu.irobot.com/partners/find-a-partner. Upon contacting your distributor, please have the serial number of your Product ready and the original proof of purchase from an authorized distributor or dealer, showing the date of purchase and full details of the Product. Our colleagues will advise you of the process involved in making a claim.
(2) We (or our authorized distributor or dealer) must be notified of any alleged defect within a reasonable time of it coming to your attention and, in any case, must be claimed no later than the expiry of the Warranty Period plus an additional period of four (4) weeks. -
4. REMEDY
(1) If we receive your request for a warranty claim within the Warranty Period, as defined in Section 3, Paragraph 2, and the Product is found to have failed under the warranty we shall, at our option:- Repair the Product,
- Exchange the Product with a product that is new, or which has been manufactured from new or serviceable used parts and is at least functionally equivalent to the original product, or
- Exchange the Product with a product that is a new and upgraded model which has at least equivalent or upgraded functionality compared to the original product.
When repairing or replacing the Product, we may use products or parts that are new, equivalent to new, or re-conditioned. Parts repaired or replaced during the Warranty Period will be warranted for the remainder of the original Warranty Period of the Product or for ninety (90) days from the date of repair or replacement, whichever is longer. Replacement or repaired products, as applicable, will be returned to you as soon as commercially practicable. All parts of the Product or other equipment that we replace shall become our property.

WHAT IS NOT COVERED?

This Limited Warranty does not apply to batteries, accessories, or other consumable items.

Unless agreed in writing, the Limited Warranty will not apply if the defect(s) relate to (a) normal wear and tear, (b) defects caused by rough or inappropriate handling or use, or damage caused by accident, misuse, neglect, fire, water, lightning, or other acts of nature, (c) non-compliance with the Product instructions, (d) willful or deliberate damage, neglect, or negligence; (e) use of spare parts or other replacement items (including consumables) which are not provided or recommended by Us; (f) any alteration or modification to the Product which has been carried out by you or a third party not authorized by us, (g) any failure to adequately package the Product for transportation, (h) extreme or external causes beyond our reasonable control including, but not limited to, breakdowns, fluctuations, or interruptions in electric power, ISP (internet service provider) service, or wireless networks, (i) weak and/or inconsistent wireless signal strength in your home.

This Limited Warranty will be invalid if (a) the Product’s serial number has been removed, erased, defaced, altered, or is illegible in any way (as determined in our sole discretion), or (b) you are in breach of the terms of this Limited Warranty or your contract with us.

LIMITATION OF IROBOT’S LIABILITY

iRobot grants no warranties, explicitly or implicitly agreed upon, other than the limited warranties stated above.

iRobot is only liable for intent and gross negligence in accordance with the applicable statutory provisions for damages or compensation of expenses.
In any other case that iRobot can be held liable unless otherwise stated above, iRobot’s liability is limited to only foreseeable and direct damages. In all other cases, iRobot’s liability is excluded with the reservation of the above provision. Any limitation of liability does not apply to damages resulting from injury to life, body, or health. -
