Oticon Fitting Guide
Efficient
An approach to fitting everyday hearing aid users
This guide provides clinically efficient recommendations for fitting Oticon
hearing aids for users with the most typical hearing loss profiles.
Before Fitting:
1. Communication and quality of life assessment
Consider completing an assessment questionnaire with your patient prior to fitting their hearing aids. Assessment questionnaires such as the Revised Hearing Handicap Inventory (RHHI)1 and the Client Oriented Scale of Improvement (COSI)2,3 are great counseling tools that can help you understand your patient’s hearing needs and how they impact their quality of life.
2. Connect the hearing aids in Genie 2
Open Oticon Genie 2 and using Noah, CONNECT the hearing aids in either the WELCOME or SELECTION screen. If using Genie 2 stand alone, go to Patient and open Audiogram. Once there, enter the patient’s audiogram information.
In FITTING, complete the following steps:
1. Select Acoustics:
First, ensure that the acoustics placed in the patient’s ear match the
selected acoustics in Genie 2.
Oticon recommends using the default acoustic option for best performance. If
an acoustic coupler
change is needed, be sure to select the correct earpiece in the dropdown menu
of VERIFY ACOUSTICS.
Then select OK.
2. Select Program Manager:
VAC+ is the recommended fitting rationale. However, a generic rationale can be
selected in the
Program Manager tab when selecting programs for the patient.
3. Select Feedback Analyzer:
Before clicking START, make sure the patient is wearing their hearing aids.
Remember to warn the
patient that the sound produced during the measurement may be loud, but will
only last a few seconds.
4. Select REM AutoFit:
Perform a target match to the chosen fitting rationale using Real Ear
Measurement. We recommend
using REM AutoFit for speed, ease of use, and accuracy. These measurements
ensure the hearing aid
gain and output meet prescribed targets.
5. Optional: Select MORE TOOLS, then AUTOMATIC ADAPTATION MANAGER
If further fine-tuning is required, consider enabling the Automatic Adaptation
Manager. Here you
can adjust the Current Step, End Step and Duration of step. These settings
give your patient the
opportunity to adapt to their hearing aids in a personalized manner.
In END FITTING, complete these steps:
1. Select Buttons and Indicators to demonstrate the available sound indicators. For example, the hearing aids play an alert when they start up or when a program is changed. Alerts can also indicate a low battery and more.
2. Consider discussing the Oticon Companion App with your patient. This app will allow your patient to control and personalize their hearing aids with ease.
3. For rechargeable hearing aids go to Batteries and check battery level and
status.

4. Save and exit.
