Product Usage Instructions

Tools Required for Installation/Maintenance:

  • Adjustable Spanner
  • Hexagonal Keys (2.5mm, 3.5mm)
  • Flat Head Screwdriver
  • Box Spanner (11mm, 27mm)

Before Installation:

  • All products must be installed, operated, and maintained according to the provided instructions.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant water regulations.
  • Flush the water supply before installation to remove debris.

Installation Steps:

  1. Screw the fixing kit rod(s) into the base of the tap using a screwdriver.
  2. Inspect the tap body to locate fixing kit rod(s) and tail inlet positions.
  3. Screw in the flexible tails by hand, ensuring not to overtighten.
  4. Thread the flexible tails and fix kit rods through the basin hole.
  5. If applicable, thread them through the plinth and rubber seal, aligning them with the tap body.
  6. Align grub screw holes on the tap underside with those on the plinth.
  7. If necessary, screw one tail from underneath the basin if the hole is too small.
  8. Slide the rubber gasket and metal plate along the fixing rod(s) and tighten the nut securely.

Before Installation

  • Isolation valves must be fitted to the inlet water supplies to ensure ease of future maintenance.

Installation

  1. Look underneath the tap body to observe fixing kit rod(s) and tail inlet positions. Depending on the model, the tap will utilise 1 or 2 fixing kit rods. Refer to your contents pageBRISTAN-D6-Colonial-Basin-Mixer-Tap-with-Pop-Up-Waste-Fig- \(6\)
  2. Screw in the flexible tails by hand only. DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN. Your model may come with a plinth and will either be included pre-attached or loose in the box*
    • If required, thread the flexible tails and fixing kit rods through the plinth and rubber seal (if loose) and align them with the tap body. Take note of any grub screw holes on the underside of the tap and align them correctly to the holes on the plinth
  3. Thread the flexible tails and fix kit rods through the basin hole. If the hole is not large enough for both tail ends to fit through, screw one of the tails in from underneath the basin.
  4. From underneath the basin, slide the rubber gasket and metal c plate along the fixing rod(s) with the gasket sitting on top of the c plate. Align the gasket and c plate, then begin tightening the nut up the rod towards the basin until secure.BRISTAN-D6-Colonial-Basin-Mixer-Tap-with-Pop-Up-Waste-Fig- \(10\)
  5. Connect the hot and cold water supplies to the flexible tails and turn until tight.BRISTAN-D6-Colonial-Basin-Mixer-Tap-with-Pop-Up-Waste-Fig- \(11\)
  6. Your tap is now ready for use

Waste Installation and Operation

  1. Fit the waste above the basin ensuring the washer is in place.
  2. Push waste into the hole until the outer rim sits flush with the bottom of the basin. Then place the washer from underneath and tighten the backnut to secure the waste to the basin.BRISTAN-D6-Colonial-Basin-Mixer-Tap-with-Pop-Up-Waste-Fig- \(14\)
  3. Your waste is now ready for use

General Cleaning

  • Bristan products are made from premium materials, with hand-polished, electroplated, PVD or EPD finishes.
  • Your taps or shower should be regularly cleaned with warm water, a mild pH-neutral liquid soap, and polished with a soft cloth. Any residues from soap, toothpaste, shampoos and shower gels can cause blemishes if not rinsed off straight after use.
  • Household bleaches and cleaners contain harsh chemicals and may damage the surface finish. Avoid using abrasive cloths, scouring pads, scrub sponges, steel wool or anything similar.

Valve Replacement

  1. Remove the handles depending on the style of your tap, including any spline adaptors if used.

  2. Remove the valve using the tool required for your tap. Check any seals and O-rings for damage. Replace the valve if necessary.   3. Visit www.bristan.com or scan the QR Code and search for your product code to replace the cartridge for your tap.

  4. Reverse the steps to replace the valves and handles.

Maintenance – Clean/Replace Outlet

  1. Using an adjustable spanner, unscrew gently to remove the outlet.BRISTAN-D6-Colonial-Basin-Mixer-Tap-with-Pop-Up-Waste-Fig- \(20\)
  2. Check all loose parts for any damage, then soak using a suitable solution to de-scale
  3. Reverse the steps to replace the outlet

Troubleshooting

Symptom

No flow or low flow rate

| Partially closed isolation valve.| Open isolation valve.

Water dripping from taps

| This is normal for a short time after using the taps.| This is caused by residual water tension, the build-up of water in the tap body.
If water continues to drip,

possibly due to the ceramic disc valves.

| Remove valves and clean them, refer to the ‘Maintenance’ section before starting any maintenance.

Taps do not turn on

| Closed isolation valve.| Open isolation valve.
The mains water supply is turned off.| Turn on the mains water supply.
