Lock Coding Procedure
There are three lock cylinder designs used in your vehicle. They can be identified by looking at the opposite end of the keyhole. The first design does not have any tumbler grooves like the second and third design. These locks all function the same, the disassembly procedures will slightly differ depending upon which design is in your vehicle. The assembly procedure is the same as the new lock cylinder has the second design configuration.

First Design Lock Disassembly
STEP 1: Remove clip from end of cylinder.
The cylinder will now come out from the opposite end.
STEP 2: Pry off tumbler cover with a small screw driver.
STEP 3: Remove the tumblers individually using needle nose pliers. Begin from the end where the keyhole is located; arrange them in the same order in which they were removed on a level and stable surface. It is important to keep the order of the tumblers as they were in the cylinder, if the order is mixed up the lock will not work. Each tumbler is stamped with a number, for extra precautionary measure record the numbers in the same order onto a piece of paper or the template provided.
Second Design Lock Disassembly
STEP 1: Remove clip from end of cylinder.
STEP 1a : Insert special tool provided into end of lock to remove
cylinder. NOTE: This tool is only for lock cylinders matching the second
design.
STEP 2: Once the tool is fully seated, insert the key approximately 1/3 to 1/2 way into cylinder and rotate clockwise, the cylinder now can be pulled out of the case. The cylinder will come out of the opposite end from the keyhole.
STEP 3: Remove the tumblers individually using needle nose pliers. Begin from the end where the keyhole is located, arrange them in the same order in which they were removed on a level and stable surface. It is important to keep the order of the tumblers as they were in the cylinder, if the order is mixed up the lock will not work. Each tumbler is stamped with a number, for extra precautionary measure record the numbers in the same order onto a piece of paper or the template provided.
Third Design Lock Disassembly
STEP 1: Remove service cap from housing.
STEP 2: Slide out the cover and cylinder sub-assembly from the housing.
Lock Assembly
STEP 1: The replacement lock cylinder will have the same configuration of internal parts as the second design lock cylinder. The tumblers will appear different from the first to second design, this will have no effect on the operation of the lock cylinder as the new lock will be coded to your original key.
STEP 2: The new tumblers will have numbers stamped on them as the originals. Insert the new tumblers individually following the same sequence of numbers as the ones in the old lock cylinder. Begin by inserting a tumbler spring in the slot followed by the tumbler, repeat this process until all the tumblers are installed their respective slots.
STEP 3: Using the packet provided, coat the cylinder with a thin layer of
grease before installing into case. Align cylinder with case as shown for
installation.
STEP 3a: Ensure that the protrusion on the cylinder aligns with the groove in the case. Insert cylinder into the case, tuck the tumblers in as you push the cylinder into the case. If you are unable to fully seat the cylinder, rotate the keyhole cap clockwise until you are able to fully seat the cylinder in the case.
STEP 4: Install clip onto cylinder as shown.
Ignition Lock Installation
STEP 1: Rotate new ignition lock to accessory position.
STEP 2: Install new lock into column with new lock remaining in accessory
position.
STEP 3: Verify free rotation of new lock through all positions.
STEP 4: Reinstall upper shroud by snapping back onto lower shroud.
