SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

Before using the appliance, read the following instructions carefully. Keep this instruction manual for future reference or new users.

  • When using electrical appliances, basic precautions must always be followed to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, and injury.
  • Make sure the voltage of your mains supply matches the voltage requirements specified in the rating label of the appliance.
  • We recommend that the room where you intend to use the appliance is equipped with a working extractor fan or it is well ventilated.
  • Use the device only for the purposes described in this instruction manual, any other use is not recommended by the manufacturer and could have a detrimental effect on the lifespan of the appliance and/or the safety of the user.
  • Unplug the appliance from the mains supply before moving it, carrying out any cleaning or maintenance task, or when not in use.
  • Do not operate it outdoors.
  • Check the power cord regularly for visible damage. If the cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the official Technical Support Service of Dovecote in order to avoid any type of danger.
  • Do not twist, bend, pull or damage the power cord. Protect it from sharp edges and heat sources. Do not allow it to touch hot surfaces. Do not let the cord hang over the edge of the working surface or worktop.
  • Do not use extension cords, unless advised by a qualifies electrician. Using the wrong type of extension cord could cause damage or injuries to the user.
  • Do not use the appliance if its cord, plug or housing are damaged, nor after it malfunctions or has been dropped or damaged in any way.
  • The appliance should not be used in potentially dangerous locations, such as flammable, explosive, chemical-laden, or wet atmospheres.
  • Place the appliance on an even, heat-resistant surface. Do not place the device near heat sources, places with high humidity levels, or combustible materials.
  • This appliance is not intended to be operated by means of an external timer or separate remote-control system.
  • Do not insert or allow fingers or foreign objects to enter any ventilation or exhaust openings, as it could cause an electrical shock or fire.
  • Do not touch the interior of the appliance while it is operating.
  • This symbol means: warning, hot surface. The temperature of accessible surfaces may be high when the appliance is operating. Be careful not to burn yourself.
  • Do not immerse the cord, plug, or any non-removable part of the product in water or any other liquid. Do not expose the electrical connections to water.
  • Make sure your hands are dry before handling the plug or switching on the appliance.
  • Unplug the device from the outlet when it is not in use or when it is being cleaned. Allow it to cool down completely before attaching or removing parts, and before cleaning the appliance.
  • Do not leave the device plugged to the mains if it is not supervised.
  • Do not touch the surface of the device while it is operating, as it will become hot when in use.
  • Cleaning and maintenance must be carried out according to this instruction manual to make sure the device operates properly.
  • Do not place the device against the wall. Leave a safety distance of 10 cm on the back of the appliance and 10 cm on each side. Do not place any object on top of the appliance when in use.
  • Do not use the appliance for any use other than the specified in the manual.
  • This product is exclusively designed for household use. – Do not try to repair the device by yourself. – The appliance is not intended to be used by children under the age of 8. It can be used by children over the age of 8, as long as they are given continuous supervision. This appliance can be used by persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge, as long as they have been given supervision or instruction concerning the use of the appliance in a safe way and understand the hazards involved.
  • Keep this appliance and its power cord out of reach of children under the age of 8.
  • Cleaning and maintenance tasks should not be carried out by children.
  • Supervise children, as they shall not play with the appliance.

BEFORE USE

  • This product includes a package designed to protect it during transport. Take the grill out of the box and store the original box and other elements in a safe place, this will help you prevent product damage when transporting it in the future. In case the original packaging is disposed of, make sure all packaging materials are recycled accordingly.
  • Clean the cooking plates with a wet sponge or cloth.
  • Dry the plates with a cloth or paper towel.
  • For optimal results, cover both plates with some oil.
  • You may notice a slight burning smell or smoke when using the product for the first time, caused by the excess of lubricants from the manufacturing process. This does not affect the safety of the product.

OPERATION

  1. Close the press grill and plug it to the mains supply. You will notice that the indicator light turns on, indicating that the grill is preheating.
  2. It will take approximately 2 minutes to reach the right cooking temperature. When the temperature is reached, the indicator light will turn off.
  3. Open the press grill, put the sandwich, meat, or desired food on the lower cooking plate.
  4. Close the press grill. The indicator light will turn on and turn off again when cooking temperature is reached.
  5. Cook for about 3 to 8 minutes or until golden brown. Adjust the time to your own liking.
  6. Use the handle to open the lid and remove the food with the help of a silicone spatula. Do not use metal utensils, as these can damage the non-stick coating of the cooking plates.
  7. Once you have finished cooking, disconnect the plug from the wall outlet and leave the grill open to cool down.

CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE

  • Unplug the appliance and let it cool down before cleaning. The unit is easier to clean when slightly warm. Do not immerse the product in water, nor wash it in the dishwasher.

  • Wipe the cooking plates with a soft cloth to remove food residue. If any food has stuck to the cooking plates, pour a bit of warm water mixed with detergent over the food residue and clean the plates with a non-abrasive scouring pad.

  • Do not use abrasive materials that could scratch or damage the non-stick coating.

  • Wipe the outside of the appliance with a damp cloth only. Do not clean the outside with any abrasive scouring pad, as this will damage the finish. Do not immerse it in water or any other liquid.

  • Do not wash the appliance in the dishwasher.

  • Remove and empty the fat-drip tray after each use. Wash the tray in warm, soapy water.
    Avoid the use of scouring pads or harsh detergents as they may damage the surface. Rinse and dry thoroughly with a clean, soft cloth, and put it back in place.

  • Store the appliance in a dry and cool place.

  • The power cord can be wound around the base of the product for its storage.
