Tips
- Wash hands before beginning and lay down a clean, smooth work surface.
- Baking time can vary depending on the oven and clay thickness.
- Take care to avoid burning the clay. › Use a protective mitt or similar to remove the tray from the oven and do not handle the hot clay.
- Leave the clay to cool and harden on the tray.
- Add holes in clay pieces before baking.
- Each pair of earrings requires 2 matching shapes.
How To Shape Polymer Clay Earrings
- Use the roller to roll out a clay slab to around 5mm thickness. Ensure the slab is large enough to cut at least two matching shapes.
- Add small pieces of coloured clay to create your desired pattern. Use the roller to press them firmly into the base layer and flatten the slab to around 3-4mm thick.
- Press the shape cutters into the clay to cut the earring shapes. Each pair of earrings needs two pieces of the chosen shape.
- Make holes for the hooks and rings with the pointed end of the wooden stick. Cut a variety of shapes and colours with the remaining clay and cutters.
How To Bake Polymer Clay Earrings
- Preheat the oven to 120° Celsius. Place clay on a tray lined with baking paper. Bake for 15 minutes. Baking time may vary depending on clay thickness. Carefully remove from the oven and allow to cool before touching.
- Choose matching clay shapes to make a pair of earrings. Open the jump rings and join your desired earring design to the hooks or simply slip clay shapes onto the hoops to comminute a naar of earrings.
