and flexible placement make this speaker an excellent addition to any room.
Our engineers have spent many years in developing this product. In order to
ensure that you experience the finest performance possible, we encourage you
to take a moment to fully read this owner’s manual and familiarize yourself
with the proper installation and setup procedures for your SR surround
speakers.

CONNECTING SPEAKER TO AMPLIFIER
SPEAKER SETUP SMALL
- SR9040BP Crossover at 100Hz
VERY IMPORTANT
Do not use your receiver’s auto setup function!!!
The bipolar nature of this speaker will often confuse the receiver’s auto
setup.
Dolby Digital and DTS multi-channel systems have critical channel balance and speaker setup procedures which must be followed if the system is to perform properly. Consult your receiver’s or processor’s manual to learn how to access your system setup menus. Set speaker setup to “small” and crossover to 100Hz for the SR9040BP.
TROUBLESHOOTING
If you experience any difficulties with your BP Series loudspeakers, try the suggestions below. If you still have problems, contact your Definitive Technology Authorized Dealer for assistance.
- Audible distortion when the speakers are playing at loud levels is caused by driving (turning up) your receiver or amplifier louder than it or the speakers are capable of playing. Most receivers and amplifiers put out their full-rated power well before the volume control is turned all the way up, so the position of the volume control is a poor indicator of its power limit. If your speakers distort when you play them loud, turn the volume down!
- If you experience a lack of bass, it is likely that one speaker is out of phase with the other and needs to be rewired paying closer attention to connect positive to positive and negative to negative on both channels. Most speaker wire has some indicator (such as color-coding, ribbing or writing) on one of the two conductors to help you maintain consistency. It is essential to connect both speakers to the amplifier in the same way (in phase).
- Make sure all your system interconnects are solidly in place.
- Check that no foreign objects or liquid has entered the speaker cabinet.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I connect my Definitive Technology speakers to my TV?****
To get your W7 to play the sound from your TV, select PCM in the TV audio options. If you want to use the AUX input, attach a 3.5mm stereo cable from the W7’s AUX-IN to the TV’s Line Out.
I need Definitive Technology SR-9040 surround sound, but how many channels do I need?****
Each AV receiver includes the centre speaker, left and right front speakers, left and right surround speakers, and the subwoofer as part of the conventional 5.1 surround sound system, which has six channels.
Is the Definitive Technology SR-9040’s surround sound quality good with Bluetooth?****
Wi-Fi and Bluetooth sound quality can be easily distinguishable from one another in terms of clarity. Bluetooth wireless surround-sound systems offer a worse sound quality since the technology requires audio data to be reduced before it can be transmitted.
The SR-9040 Bluetooth surround sound speakers from Definitive Technology are powered in what way?****
Yes, the majority of wireless speakers use AC adaptors to connect to regular outlets or power strips. Some systems use rechargeable batteries in order to be “truly wireless,” although this feature needs repositioning and charging as regular duties in order to operate this kind of surround sound system.
Do the wireless Definitive Technology SR-9040 surround speakers require an electrical outlet?****
The “wireless” speakers’ AC power cable (wire) must constantly be plugged into the wall. The same line that delivers the music is used to power conventional “wired” speakers, which get their power from the amplifiers in your AV receiver.
What surround sound channel does the Definitive Technology SR-9040 use?****
It sounds like helicopters are circling the room, sounds coming from behind you, to your left or right. Home theatre systems typically start at 5.1 channels and rise in number from there, while they can start with as few as 3.1 channels (left and right speakers, a centre channel, and a subwoofer).
What does surround ready mean for the Bluetooth Definitive Technology SR-9040?****
It signifies that a device, in this case a sound bar, is ready to establish a Bluetooth connection with another equipment.
How do the surround sound speakers in the Definitive Technology SR-9040 operate?****
Surround sound adds one or more channels from loudspeakers to the side or behind the listener to create the illusion that music is coming from all around the listener (at ground level).
What is the value of a Definitive Technology SR-9040 surround sound system?****
A home theatre system is unquestionably a wise investment if you prefer to watch movies in the best possible quality at home. You can invest as much time and money as you want in building a home theatre, and you’ll get more in return. In all likelihood, the investment will be profitable.
How much power do the surround speakers from Definitive Technology SR-9040 require?****
The surround channels must receive at least 20 volts and the front three channels of integrated devices like receivers must receive at least 26.1 volts (85 watts) (50 watts).
What is the purpose of a Definitive Technology SR-9040 speaker surround?****
The suspension of a speaker driver is made up of the spider and the speaker surround. The surround is the woofer’s soft ring that is affixed to both the speaker cone’s inside and outside using adhesive. When the speaker is in use, the surround flexes, allowing the cone to move.
Are these compatible with an Atmos setup?****
An Atmos speaker can be any speaker. Flexible Placement for Wall-mount, Stand, or Shelf is available with SR-9040 speakers. Install the SR-9040 speakers high up on the wall to create Atmos height channels.
Even though the manual recommends to put them at a height of two metres, may I place them as side surround speakers at ear level?****
The SR-9040 surround speakers from Definitive Technology can be mounted at ear level. It is advised to install at a height of 2 metres for the greatest outcomes. Given the unpredictability of room acoustics and space design, this is an average.
