Introduction

This manual provides guidelines for the use of the OBC115A and OBC250A hydraulic steering cylinder for outboard engines.
A hydraulic steering system for outboard engines consists of the following basic components:

  • Steering cylinder
  • Steering pump
  • Hoses
  • Steering wheel

Warning
Unauthorised modifications exclude the factory’s liability for any resulting damage.

Operation

Turn the steering wheel (gently) in the desired direction. If necessary, practice sailing forwards and backwards in a safe location.
Operation

Maintenance

The outside of the hydraulic steering system must be cleaned after every use. It is very important to clean the steering system, as it is considered a part of your safety equipment. Use water and (mild) soap for washing.

Check the following points regularly:

  • Steering pump oil level.
  • Steering response when turning the steering wheel.
  • Steering hoses and connections (damage, wear and leaks).
  • Condition of all fasteners.
  • Signs of corrosion.
  • Condition of hydraulic oil (flush if necessary).
  • Damage/corrosion of the piston rod. Grease if necessary.

Have maintenance and repairs carried out by a competent company.
