Range of detection
Selecting installation site
Observe the following when selecting the installation site:
- No back light: Do not point the camera towards a strong back light source, such as a street light or garden lights. Do not expose lens to direct sunlight.
- Image background: Do not point camera to extremely bright image backgrounds with strong contrasts.
- Lighting: If there is additional lighting in the entrance area, this should not shine directly onto the camera lens from the front (see “back light”).
- Mounting height: 1.5 m (recommendation).
- Angle of detection: 100°
Camera heating
The camera has two internal heaters. When local conditions cause rapid
climatic changes, the second heater is needed to prevent the cover glass from
fogging up. If the second heater is used, an additional power supply is
required.
The first heater is automatically activated at a temperature of < 6 °C and is
deactivated at +12 °C.
Night mode
Automatic changeover to night mode
For the duration of an active conversation, the camera automatically switches to night mode as from a brightness value of < 1 lx. Night mode = b/w image and HLR is active. Infrared illumination is only active if this function has previously been set at the home station.
-
Noise reduction mode (NR)
The NR mode prevents the camera image from developing image noise in twilight conditions. -
Infrared illumination
In night mode, IR illumination enables a glare-free illumination of the field of view. When an additional power supply is used, the effective range of the IR illumination increases to 3 m. -
High light compensation (HLC) function
The HCL function serves to invert bright areas in night mode. Very bright areas are inverted to black (e.g. car headlights). -
Wide dynamic function (WD)
The WD functions automatically adapts the camera image brightness ensuring that all image areas are clearly visible. This makes persons present in dark areas of the camera image visible.
Installing the module
Installing the module
The installation instructions for the System 106 surface-mounted 1-gang to
5-gang housing describes the following working steps:
- Lock the module on the mounting frame.
- Plug in the connection cable.
- Place terminating resistors.
Terminating resistor
From the 2-gang surface-mounted housing up, there are always two terminating
resistors included.
The terminating resistors are always connected to the first and last module on
the system cable (see operating instructions for surface-mounted housing,
1-gang to 5-gang).
Video cable
Plug the video cable into the port of the camera module and the intercom and
door station module.
Starting up the camera module
When assigning a call button (see operating instructions for door station and
call-button module), the camera module is automatically logged in.
All components (System 106 module, home stations, control devices etc.) must
be installed previous to successful start-up.
Configuring the module
Setting the image area
Fixed image sections (white) of the entire image (grey) can be enlarged via
the rotary switch located on the rear. The visible detection range corresponds
to the image that can be seen on the home station and not to the position of
the camera lens. Position “0” = Default delivery state.

Settings via other devices of the door communication system
The following settings mare made directly at the home station:
- Brightness, contrast, colour and switch-on time, IR illumination.
- For more detailed information, please consult the operating instructions for the respective home station.
Changing the glass front
If the glass front is damaged, please get in touch with your sales contact
(retailer/installation company/electronics retailer). Your sales contact will
be provided with a replacement device via the Gira Service Center. Upon
