Intended use The OneTouch Verio Reflect® Blood Glucose Monitoring System is intended for self-testing outside the body (in vitro diagnostic use) by people with diabetes mellitus for the quantitative measurement of glucose (sugar) in fresh capillary whole blood samples drawn from the fingertips as an aid in the management of diabetes.

The OneTouch Verio Reflect® Meter analyzes patterns, tracks trends and provides guidance (educational, behavioral and motivational messages) to help aid in the understanding and management of glucose levels and the detection of excursions above or below a desired range. The meter is also designed to wirelessly communicate with compatible diabetes applications for the capture, transfer and analysis of blood glucose data and information, to help support diabetes self-management.
The OneTouch Verio Reflect® Blood Glucose Monitoring System should not be used as a substitute for healthcare professional advice. It also should not be used for the diagnosis or screening of diabetes or for neonatal use.
The system is intended to be used by a single patient and should not be shared.
Test principle
Glucose in the blood sample mixes with the enzyme FAD-GDH (see page 114) in the test strip and a small electric current is produced. The strength of this current calculates your blood glucose level. It then displays the blood glucose result and stores it in the meter memory.
Use only OneTouch Verio® Control Solution and Test Strips with the OneTouch Verio Reflect® Meter. Use of OneTouch Verio® Test Strips with meters for which they are not intended may yield inaccurate results.

BLUETOOTH® wireless technology BLUETOOTH® wireless technology is used by some smartphones and many other devices. Your OneTouch Verio Reflect® Meter uses BLUETOOTH® wireless technology to pair and to send your glucose results to compatible wireless devices. The OneTouch Verio Reflect® Meter is designed to work with the OneTouch Reveal® Mobile App and other diabetes applications. Visit www.OneTouch.ca for information on which wireless devices are compatible with your OneTouch Verio Reflect® Meter, and where/how to download the software application.

The Blood Sugar MentorTM provides insight on how you’re doing and diabetes management guidance, including educational and motivational messages based on your current and previous glucose results and other tracked data. ColourSure® Dynamic Range Indicator The ColourSure® Dynamic Range Indicator instantly lets you know if your current result is below (blue), within (green) or above (red) your range limits. It also shows when your result is near the low or high end of your target range. Test Tracker The Test Tracker lets you set the number of glucose tests you plan to take each day and automatically tracks progress towards achieving that goal. Trend 90 Trend 90 lets you set your blood glucose 90 Day Average Target and tracks progress towards that goal. The graph of averages is automatically updated every two weeks and provides a view of how your overall glucose control is trending over time.

Setting up your meter

Turn your meter on To turn your meter on, press and hold until the Welcome screen appears. Once the Welcome screen is displayed, release . You can also turn the meter on by inserting a test strip.

Every time you turn your meter on, a Welcome screen will appear for a few seconds. If the meter does not power on, check the batteries. See page 102.

Use the display backlight for better visibility The backlight comes on automatically whenever the meter is turned on. After a few seconds of no activity, the backlight will dim. Pressing any button or inserting a test strip will turn the backlight back on.
First time setup Before using your meter for the first time, you will be prompted to set the language, time, date, range limits, Daily Test Goal, and 90 Day Average Target.
NOTE: · You will not be able to perform a blood glucose test until
you complete first time setup. · Be sure to talk to your healthcare professional about
setting the right range limits, Daily Test Goal, and 90 Day Average Target for you. When selecting or changing these settings, you should consider factors such as your lifestyle and diabetes therapy. Never make significant changes to your diabetes care plan without consulting your healthcare professional. · It is important to select the settings with care to ensure the correct information is stored with your test results.

The meter comes pre-set to help you with first time setup. But if you need to edit a setting, press or to highlight Edit and press . You can then press or to change values. After making your selection, highlight Save and press to confirm your selection and proceed to the next screen.

Your meter uses the Before Meal and After Meal range limits set in your meter to tell you when a test result is within, below or above your mealtime range limits. The mealtime range limits you set during first time setup will apply to all glucose results. They are used in the ColourSure® Dynamic Range Indicator feature, to detect Patterns and in the Summary. See page 44, page 64 and page 71 for more information.

If the meter was turned on by inserting a test strip, the Apply Blood screen will appear. To perform a blood glucose test, see page 31. NOTE: After first time setup, you can adjust your settings at any time. See page 88 for more information.
Understanding Basic Mode The meter comes with many features to help track diabetes management progress. Basic Mode will turn off these features if you prefer not to use the meter in this way. When Basic Mode is selected, the Test Tracker, Meal and Event tagging, Before and After Meal averages, Trend 90, Pattern Messages, Mentor Tips and Awards will be turned off. In Basic Mode, range limits are general and are not defined by mealtime. Range Indicator icons appear as text (for example, In Range ) rather than as emoji (for example, ). For more information about turning Basic Mode on or off see page 93.

range (6-44°C). · Make sure your meter and test strips are about the same
temperature before you test. · Keep test strips in a cool, dry place between 5°C
and 30°C.

3 Taking a test
· Do Not test if there is condensation (water build-up) on your meter. Move your meter and test strips to a cool, dry spot and wait for the meter surface to dry before testing.
· Do Not open the test strip vial until you are ready to remove a test strip and perform a test. Use the test strip immediately after removing it from the vial.
· Tightly close the cap on the vial immediately after use to avoid contamination and damage.
· Store unused test strips only in their original vial. · Do Not return the used test strip to the vial after
performing a test. · Do Not re-use a test strip that had blood, control
solution, or any contaminants applied to it. Test strips are for single use only. · With clean, dry hands, you may touch the test strip anywhere on its surface. Do Not bend, cut or modify the test strip in any way. · When you first open a vial of test strips, record the discard date on the label. Refer to the test strip insert or vial label for instructions on determining the discard date.

· Comparing your blood glucose test results taken with this meter to your results taken from a different meter is not recommended. Results may differ between meters and are not a useful measure of whether your meter is working properly. To check your meter accuracy, you should periodically compare your meter results to those obtained from a lab. See page 112 for more information.
IMPORTANT: If another person assists you with testing, the meter should always be cleaned prior to use by that person. See page 98.
CAUTION: · The OneTouch Verio Reflect® Blood Glucose Monitoring
System should not be used for patients within 24 hours of receiving a D-xylose absorption test as it may cause inaccurately high results. · Do Not use the OneTouch Verio® Family of Meters when PAM (Pralidoxime) is known or suspected to be in the patient’s whole blood sample.

· Do Not use your test strips if your vial is damaged or left open. This could lead to error messages or inaccurate results. Contact Customer Care immediately if the test strip vial is damaged. Contact information for Customer Care is listed at the end of this Owner’s Booklet.
· If you cannot test due to a problem with your testing supplies, contact your healthcare professional. Failure to test could delay treatment decisions and lead to a serious medical condition.
· The test strip vial contains drying agents that are harmful if inhaled or swallowed and may cause skin or eye irritation.
· Do Not use test strips after the expiration date (printed on the vial) or the discard date, whichever comes first, or your results may be inaccurate.

Preparing your lancing device 1. Remove the lancing device cap Remove the cap by rotating it and then pulling it straight off the device.
2. Insert a sterile lancet into the lancing device Align the lancet as shown here, so that the lancet fits into the lancet holder. Push the lancet into the device until it snaps into place and is fully seated in the holder. Twist the protective cover one full turn until it separates from the lancet. Save the protective cover for lancet removal and disposal. See page 49.

3. Replace the lancing device cap Place the cap back onto the device; turn the cap or push the cap straight on to secure it. Ensure the cap is aligned as shown in the image.
4. Adjust the depth setting The device has 13 puncture depth settings (each dot shown between numbers 1 to 7 on the Depth Wheel indicates an additional available depth setting). Adjust the depth by turning the depth wheel. Smaller numbers are for a shallower puncture and larger numbers for a deeper puncture. NOTE: Try a shallower setting first and increase the depth until you find the one deep enough to get a blood sample of the proper size.

Before testing, wash your hands and the sample site with warm, soapy water. Rinse and dry completely. Contaminants on the skin may affect results. 1. 2. Wait for the channel to fill completely The blood drop will be drawn into the narrow channel. The channel should fill completely. The channel turns red and a result will be displayed after approximately 5 seconds. Blood should not be applied on the top of the test strip or to the top edge of the test strip.
NOTE: · Do Not smear or scrape the sample with the test strip. · Do Not press the test strip too firmly against the puncture
site or the channel may be blocked from filling properly. · Do Not apply more blood to the test strip after you have

Viewing your result ColourSure® Dynamic Range Indicator The OneTouch Verio Reflect® Meter comes with a ColourSure® Dynamic Range Indicator feature that instantly lets you know if your current result is below (blue), within (green) or above (red) your range limits. It also shows when your result is near the low or high end of your target range. It does this by displaying your result with a Range Indicator icon pointing to a segment on the Colour Bar based on the ranges you have set in the meter. The Range Indicator icon may be either an emoji (for example, ) or text (for example In Range ). Use the Range Indicator icon and the segmented Colour Bar together to see where your result falls within your range limits.

1. Remove the lancing device cap Remove the cap by rotating it and then pulling it straight off the device.
2. Cover the exposed lancet tip Before removing the lancet, place the lancet protective cover on a hard surface then push the lancet tip into the flat side of the disk.
3. Eject the lancet Holding the lancing device directed downwards, push the slider forward until the lancet comes out of the lancing device. If the lancet fails to eject properly, cock the device then push the slider control forward until the lancet comes out.

4. Replace the lancing device cap Place the cap back onto the device; turn the cap or push the cap straight in to secure it. Ensure the cap is aligned as shown in the image.
It is important to use a new lancet each time you obtain a blood sample. Do Not leave a lancet in the lancing device. This will help prevent infection and sore fingertips. Disposing of the used lancet and test strip Discard the used lancet carefully after each use to avoid unintended lancet stick injuries. Used lancets and test strips may be considered biohazardous waste in your area. Be sure to follow your healthcare professional’s recommendations or local regulations for proper disposal. Wash hands thoroughly with soap and water after handling the meter, test strips, lancing device and cap.

Adding Meal and Event tags Your OneTouch Verio Reflect® Meter allows you to attach a Before Meal ( ) or After Meal ( ) tag to your current blood glucose result. It is important to understand the link between blood glucose levels and food. When you tag your test results with Meal tags, you add information about food to your results. Your meter uses this information in a variety of ways and displays Pattern Messages, Mentor Tips and Awards. Talk to your healthcare professional to see how Meal tags may help you manage your diabetes. Consider the following guidelines when Meal tagging.
· A Before Meal blood glucose test is taken just before the start of your meal.
· An After Meal blood glucose test is typically taken one to two hours after the start of your meal.
· A blood glucose test taken while fasting should be tagged as Before Meal.
In addition to Meal tagging, your OneTouch Verio Reflect® Meter includes an Event tagging feature. Event tagging adds information about your health and lifestyle events to your blood glucose results. Your meter will review your past results and display Messages associated with tagged results when certain conditions are met. See page 3 for Event tag icons and their meanings.

Understanding Pattern Messages Low and High Pattern Messages appear when the meter identifies a Pattern of glucose results that fall outside the low and high mealtime range limits set in your meter. Every time you test your blood glucose, your OneTouch Verio Reflect® Meter searches for any new Patterns that have developed over the past 5 days. Patterns are identified by finding results below or above the low and high mealtime range limits set in your meter, and cross referencing with the time of day the tests were taken. For a set of results to form a Pattern, the results must be within the same 3-hour time period over the past 5 days. When a Pattern is identified, a Pattern message icon ( ) appears below your result. A Pattern Message will be displayed after the result screen. Inaccurate results may cause Pattern Messages to appear. Once a result is used in a Pattern, it will not be used again in future Pattern Messages.

The Sync symbol ( ) flashes on the meter display. After syncing, the Sync symbol will disappear and the app will display a list of any new results sent from the meter. You can then share your results with your caregiver or healthcare professional.
CAUTION: Always use the current result on your meter for immediate treatment decisions. NOTE: The compatible wireless device must have the app open and have already been paired to the meter before sending a result. See page 81. NOTE: If the BLUETOOTH® feature on the meter is turned off, or the meter is out of range, the result is not sent to the compatible wireless device. The result is saved in the meter memory with the current date and time, and will be sent to the app the next time you sync. The sent results are also stored in the meter. Downloading results to a computer

Your meter can work with diabetes management software, which provides a visual way to track key factors that affect your blood sugar. To learn more about diabetes management tools available to you, contact Customer Care. Contact information for Customer Care is listed at the end of this Owner’s Booklet.

Connect only to a computer certified to UL 60950-1 ( ).

To transfer meter data, follow the instructions provided with the diabetes management software product to download the results from the meter. You will need a standard micro USB interface cable to connect your OneTouch Verio Reflect® Meter to a computer to download results (not included).

Once the command to start the download is sent from the computer to the meter, the Cable Connected screen will appear, indicating that the meter is in communication mode.

Do Not insert a test strip while the meter is connected to a computer.

Storing your system Store your meter, test strips, control solution and other items in your carrying case. Keep in a cool, dry place between 5°C and 30°C. Do Not refrigerate. Keep all items away from direct sunlight and heat. Exposure to temperatures outside the storage limits, as well as moisture and humidity, may cause inaccurate readings. Cleaning and disinfection Cleaning and disinfection are different and both should be performed. Cleaning is part of your normal care and maintenance and should be performed prior to disinfection, but cleaning does not kill germs. Disinfection is the only way to reduce your exposure to disease. For cleaning information, see page 99, and for disinfection, see page 100.

Cleaning your meter, lancing device and cap The meter, lancing device and cap should be cleaned whenever they are visibly dirty and before disinfection. Clean your meter at least once per week. For cleaning obtain regular strength liquid dish soap and a soft cloth. Prepare a mild detergent solution by stirring 2.5 mL of regular strength liquid dish soap into 250 mL of water. · Do Not use alcohol or any other solvent. · Do Not allow liquids, dirt, dust,

10 Batteries
Replacing the batteries Your OneTouch Verio Reflect® Meter uses 2x CR2032 lithium batteries. One battery powers the meter only and the other powers the backlight. See page 111 for information on when to change the meter batteries. If the meter does not turn on, or remains dim after pressing a button, check the batteries. Do Not change the batteries when connected to a PC.
WARNING: CHEMICAL BURN HAZARD. DO NOT INGEST BATTERY. This product contains a coin/button cell battery. If swallowed, it can quickly cause severe internal burns and can lead to death. Keep new and used batteries away from children. If you think batteries might have been swallowed, seek immediate medical attention. IMPORTANT: Use only CR2032 lithium batteries with your meter. Do Not use rechargeable batteries. Use of an incorrect battery type or a used battery may result in your meter providing fewer tests than normal.
WARNING: Certain batteries may cause leaking, which can damage the meter or cause the batteries to lose power sooner than normal. Replace leaking batteries immediately.

1. Remove the old batteries
Start with the meter turned off. Remove the battery cover by pressing and sliding it downward.

Pull up firmly on the plastic ribbons. The plastic ribbon with the
symbol is for the meter battery, and the plastic ribbon with the symbol is for the backlight battery. Always change both batteries at the same time.
2. Insert the new batteries With the “+” side facing up toward you, place each battery in the compartment within the fold of the plastic ribbon. Push each battery in until it snaps into the battery clasp.

If the meter does not power on after you have replaced the batteries, check that the batteries are correctly installed with the “+” side up. Comparing meter results to laboratory results Results obtained from the OneTouch Verio Reflect® Meter and laboratory tests are reported in plasma- equivalent units. However, your meter result may differ from your lab result due to normal variation. A result from your OneTouch Verio Reflect® Meter is considered accurate when it is within 0.83 mmol/L of a laboratory method when the glucose concentration is lower than 5.55 mmol/L and within 15% of a laboratory method when the glucose concentration is 5.55 mmol/L or higher.
Meter results can be affected by factors that do not affect lab results in the same way. Specific factors that may cause your meter result to vary from your lab result may include: · You have eaten recently. This can cause a result from
fingertip testing to be up to 3.9 mmol/L higher than a lab test using blood drawn from a vein.1 · Your hematocrit is above 60% or below 20%. · You are severely dehydrated.

Le système de surveillance de la glycémie OneTouch Verio Reflect® est l’une des toutes dernières innovations de la gamme de produits OneTouch®.
Votre lecteur OneTouch Verio Reflect® est conçu pour se connecter (se synchroniser) avec divers dispositifs sans fil compatibles exécutant des applications logicielles. En connectant votre lecteur à l’appli OneTouch Reveal®, vous pouvez passer en revue vos résultats et les afficher sous forme de graphiques, régler des objectifs de tests quotidiens, consulter les messages du coach de glycémie (Blood Sugar MentorMC) et identifier les tendances. Les résultats du lecteur ainsi que toutes les autres données faisant l’objet d’un suivi sont envoyés aux dispositifs compatibles par l’intermédiaire de la technologie BLUETOOTH® (sans fil) ou d’une connexion par câble USB. Consultez le site www.OneTouch.ca/fr pour obtenir plus de renseignements sur l’appli OneTouch Reveal®.
Chaque lecteur OneTouch® est conçu pour faciliter vos tests de glycémie et la prise en charge de votre diabète.
Ce manuel d’utilisation présente des explications détaillées sur la façon d’utiliser votre nouveau lecteur et les fournitures nécessaires aux tests. Il passe en revue les choses à faire et à ne pas faire au moment de tester votre glycémie. Avant de commencer Avant d’utiliser ce produit pour tester votre glycémie, lisez attentivement ce manuel d’utilisation et les notices accompagnant les bandelettes de test OneTouch Verio®, la solution de contrôle OneTouch Verio® et le stylo autopiqueur OneTouch® Delica® Plus.
CONSIGNES DE SÉCURITÉ IMPORTANTES : · Ce lecteur et le stylo autopiqueur ne sont destinés
qu’à un seul patient. Ne les partagez pas avec d’autres personnes, y compris des membres de votre famille! Ne les utilisez pas sur plusieurs patients! · Toutes les pièces de cette trousse sont considérées comme biologiquement dangereuses après avoir été utilisées et exposées au sang. Une trousse usagée pourrait potentiellement transmettre des maladies infectieuses, même après avoir été nettoyée et désinfectée.
Utilisation prévue Le système de surveillance de la glycémie OneTouch Verio Reflect® est prévu pour être utilisé (à des fins de diagnostic in vitro) par des personnes atteintes de diabète sucré pour la mesure quantitative du glucose (sucre) dans des échantillons de sang frais entier d’origine capillaire prélevés au bout du doigt comme aide à la prise en charge du diabète.

Le lecteur OneTouch Verio Reflect® analyse les tendances, fait le suivi de ces tendances et fournit des directives (messages éducatifs, de comportement et de motivation) pour vous aider à comprendre et gérer les glycémies, et à détecter les excursions glycémiques au-dessus ou en dessous de la plage d’objectifs souhaitée. Le lecteur est également conçu pour communiquer sans fil avec des applications de prise en charge du diabète compatibles pour l’acquisition, le transfert et l’analyse d’informations et de données de glycémie, dans le but d’aider à l’autoprise en charge du diabète.
Le système de surveillance de la glycémie OneTouch Verio Reflect® ne doit pas être utilisé pour remplacer les conseils d’un professionnel de la santé. Il ne doit pas être utilisé pour le diagnostic ou le dépistage du diabète, ni même à des fins néonatales.
Le système n’est destiné qu’à un seul patient et ne doit pas être partagé.
Principe du test
Le glucose présent dans l’échantillon sanguin se mélange à l’enzyme FAD-GDH (consultez la page 114) de la bandelette de test, ce qui produit un faible courant électrique. L’intensité de ce courant calcule votre glycémie. Il affiche ensuite le résultat de glycémie et le stocke dans la mémoire du lecteur.
Utilisez seulement la solution de contrôle et les bandelettes de test OneTouch Verio® avec le lecteur OneTouch Verio Reflect®. L’utilisation de bandelettes de test OneTouch Verio® avec des lecteurs pour lesquels elles ne sont pas destinées pourrait entraîner des résultats erronés.

Technologie sans fil BLUETOOTH® La technologie sans fil BLUETOOTH® est utilisée par certains téléphones intelligents et beaucoup d’autres dispositifs. Votre lecteur OneTouch Verio Reflect® utilise la technologie sans fil BLUETOOTH® pour pouvoir être jumelé avec d’autres dispositifs sans fil compatibles et leur envoyer vos résultats de glycémie. Le lecteur OneTouch Verio Reflect® est conçu pour fonctionner avec l’appli mobile OneTouch Reveal® et d’autres applications de prise en charge du diabète. Lors de l’utilisation du système OneTouch Verio Reflect®, nous vous suggérons de jumeler votre lecteur OneTouch Verio Reflect® avec un dispositif sans fil compatible et de procéder à un suivi de vos résultats. Consultez la page 83 pour obtenir les instructions de jumelage. Cet appareil numérique de Classe B respecte la norme canadienne NMB-003. Cet appareil contient des émetteurs / récepteurs exemptés de licence conformes aux RSS (RSS) d’Innovation, Sciences et Développement économique Canada. Le fonctionnement est soumis aux deux conditions suivantes : (1) Cet appareil ne doit pas causer d’interférences (2) Cet appareil doit accepter toutes les interférences, y compris celles susceptibles de provoquer un fonctionnement indésirable de l’appareil. Ces directives contribuent à ce que votre lecteur n’affecte pas le fonctionnement d’autres dispositifs électroniques à proximité. En outre, d’autres dispositifs électroniques ne doivent pas affecter l’utilisation de votre lecteur. Si votre lecteur rencontre des problèmes d’interférences, essayez de l’éloigner de la source d’interférences. Vous pouvez également déplacer le dispositif électronique, ou son antenne, à un autre endroit pour résoudre le problème.

MISE EN GARDE : La fonction BLUETOOTH® de votre lecteur envoie les résultats du test à votre dispositif sans fil compatible. Pour éviter que les résultats d’autres personnes ne soient envoyés à votre dispositif sans fil compatible, ne laissez personne d’autre utiliser votre lecteur pour tester sa glycémie. Ce lecteur n’est destiné qu’à un seul patient.
MISE EN GARDE : Dans les endroits où le téléphone cellulaire n’est pas autorisé, comme les hôpitaux, certains cabinets de professionnels de la santé et les avions, vous devez désactiver la fonction BLUETOOTH®. Consultez la page 80 pour obtenir plus de renseignements.
Ne laissez pas votre lecteur sans surveillance dans un lieu public de sorte que d’autres personnes pourraient modifier vos paramètres personnels ou établir une connexion physique.

Indicateur dynamique de positionnement des valeurs par rapport à la plage d’objectifs ColourSure® L’indicateur dynamique de positionnement des valeurs par rapport à la plage d’objectifs ColourSure® vous indique instantanément si votre résultat en cours est dans l’objectif (vert), inférieur à votre objectif (bleu) ou supérieur à votre objectif (rouge). Il vous indique également lorsque votre résultat est proche de la limite inférieure ou supérieure de votre plage d’objectifs. Suivi des tests Le suivi des tests vous permet de définir le nombre de tests de glycémie que vous envisagez de faire chaque jour et suit automatiquement vos progrès vers l’atteinte de cet objectif. Tendance sur 90 jours La tendance sur 90 jours vous permet de définir votre objectif de glycémie moyen sur 90 jours et suit vos progrès vers l’atteinte de cet objectif. Le graphique des moyennes est automatiquement mis à jour toutes les deux semaines et fournit une vue d’ensemble des tendances de votre glycémie au fil du temps.

Réglage de votre lecteur

Mise en marche de votre lecteur Pour allumer votre lecteur, appuyez sur le bouton et maintenez-le enfoncé jusqu’à ce que l’écran de bienvenue s’affiche. Une fois que l’écran de bienvenue s’affiche, relâchez le bouton . Vous pouvez également allumer le lecteur en insérant une bandelette de test.

Chaque fois que vous allumez votre lecteur, un écran de bienvenue apparaît pendant quelques secondes. Si le lecteur ne s’allume pas, vérifiez les piles. Consultez la page 102.
ATTENTION :
Si vous observez des pixels manquants sur l’écran de bienvenue, le lecteur a peut-être un problème. Communiquez avec le service à la clientèle. Les coordonnées du service à la clientèle se trouvent à la fin du présent manuel d’utilisation.

2 Réglage de votre système
Utiliser le rétroéclairage pour une meilleure visibilité
Le rétroéclairage est activé automatiquement quand le lecteur est allumé. Après quelques secondes d’inactivité, le rétroéclairage s’atténuera. Le fait d’appuyer sur un bouton quelconque ou d’insérer une bandelette de test réactivera le rétroéclairage.
Première configuration
Avant d’utiliser votre lecteur la première fois, vous serez invité(e) à régler la langue, l’heure, la date, les seuils des plages d’objectifs, l’objectif de tests quotidiens et l’objectif moyen sur 90 jours.
REMARQUE :
· Vous ne pourrez pas procéder à un test de glycémie tant que vous n’aurez pas complété la première configuration.
· Assurez-vous de consulter votre professionnel de la santé au sujet des réglages des seuils, de l’objectif de tests quotidiens et de l’objectif moyen sur 90 jours qui vous conviennent. Lors de la sélection ou de la modification de ces réglages, vous devez prendre en compte d’autres facteurs tels que vos habitudes de vie et votre traitement du diabète. N’apportez jamais de changements importants à votre plan de soins du diabète sans avoir consulté préalablement votre professionnel de la santé.
· Il est important de sélectionner les réglages avec soin pour s’assurer d’enregistrer les bonnes informations avec vos résultats de test.

Le lecteur est livré préréglé pour vous aider avec la première configuration. Cependant, si vous devez modifier un réglage, appuyez sur ou pour mettre Modifier en surbrillance et appuyez sur . Appuyez ensuite sur ou
pour modifier les valeurs. Après avoir fait votre sélection, mettez Enregistrer en surbrillance et appuyez sur pour confirmer votre sélection et passer à l’écran suivant.
Appuyez sur pour retourner à l’écran précédent.

Votre lecteur utilise les seuils Avant le repas et Après le repas définis dans votre lecteur pour vous indiquer lorsqu’un résultat de test est dans la plage d’objectifs, au-dessus ou en dessous de vos seuils Hyper/Hypo associés aux repas. Les seuils Hyper/Hypo associés aux repas que vous avez définis durant la première configuration s’appliqueront à tous les résultats de glycémie. Ils sont utilisés dans la fonction Indicateur dynamique de positionnement des valeurs par rapport à la plage d’objectifs ColourSure® pour détecter les tendances et dans le résumé. Consultez la page 44, la page 64 et la page 71 pour obtenir plus de renseignements.

Le fait de sélectionner Modifier vous permettra de changer l’objectif de tests quotidiens préréglé pour le suivi des tests.
Le suivi des tests vous permet de définir le nombre de tests de glycémie que vous envisagez de faire chaque jour et suit automatiquement vos progrès vers l’atteinte de cet objectif.
Le lecteur est préréglé avec un objectif de tests quotidiens de quatre tests par jour. L’objectif de tests quotidiens maximal est de huit. Consultez la page 94 pour obtenir plus de renseignements.

Si le lecteur a été mis en marche en insérant une bandelette de test, l’écran Déposez un échantil. de sang s’affichera. Pour effectuer un test de glycémie, consultez la page 31.
REMARQUE : Après la première configuration, vous pouvez en tout temps ajuster vos réglages. Consultez la page 88 pour obtenir plus de renseignements.
Compréhension du mode de base Le lecteur est fourni avec de nombreuses fonctions permettant de suivre les progrès réalisés dans la prise en charge du diabète. Le mode de base désactivera ces fonctions si vous préférez ne pas utiliser le lecteur de cette façon. Lorsque le mode de base est sélectionné, le suivi des tests, le placement de repères d’événement et de repas, les moyennes Avant le repas et Après le repas, la tendance sur 90 jours, les messages de tendances, les conseils et les prix seront désactivés. En mode de base, les seuils sont généraux et ne sont pas définis selon l’heure du repas. Les icônes indicatrices de positionnement des valeurs par rapport à la plage d’objectifs apparaissent sous forme de texte (par exemple, Normale ) plutôt que sous forme d’émoticône (par exemple, ). Pour obtenir plus de renseignements au sujet de l’activation et de la désactivation du mode de base, consultez la page 93.

REMARQUE : Un grand nombre de personnes trouvent utile de s’exercer à faire des tests avec la solution de contrôle avant d’effectuer des tests pour la première fois avec du sang. Consultez la page 53. Au moment d’effectuer un test, vous devez avoir sous la main les articles suivants :

REMARQUE :
· Utilisez seulement les bandelettes de test OneTouch Verio®. · Contrairement à certains lecteurs de glycémie,
aucune étape distincte pour coder votre système OneTouch Verio Reflect® n’est requise. · Le test doit être réalisé à l’intérieur de la plage de températures de fonctionnement (6 à 44 °C). · Assurez-vous que votre lecteur et les bandelettes de test sont à peu près à la même température avant d’effectuer votre test. · Gardez les bandelettes de test dans un endroit frais et sec, à une température comprise entre 5 et 30 °C.

· N’effectuez pas de test si vous constatez la présence de condensation (accumulation d’eau) sur votre lecteur. Déplacez votre lecteur et vos bandelettes de test dans un endroit frais et sec et attendez que la surface du lecteur sèche avant d’effectuer un test.
· N’ouvrez pas le flacon de bandelettes de test tant que vous n’êtes pas prêt(e) à prélever une bandelette de test et à effectuer un test. Utilisez la bandelette de test immédiatement après l’avoir retirée du flacon.
· Fermez immédiatement et hermétiquement le capuchon du flacon après utilisation pour éviter tout dommage et toute contamination.
· Conservez les bandelettes de test non utilisées uniquement dans leur flacon d’origine.
· Ne remettez pas la bandelette de test usagée dans le flacon après avoir effectué un test.
· Ne réutilisez pas une bandelette de test souillée par du sang, de la solution de contrôle ou tout autre contaminant. Les bandelettes de test sont exclusivement à usage unique.
· Vous pouvez toucher la bandelette de test à n’importe quel endroit de sa surface avec des mains propres et sèches. Ne pliez pas, ne coupez pas et ne modifiez pas la bandelette de test d’une quelconque façon.

· Lorsque vous ouvrez un flacon de bandelettes de test pour la première fois, notez la date d’élimination sur l’étiquette. Reportez-vous à la notice des bandelettes de test ou à l’étiquette du flacon pour obtenir des instructions permettant de déterminer la date d’élimination.
· Il n’est pas recommandé de comparer vos résultats de test de glycémie obtenus avec ce lecteur avec vos résultats obtenus avec un autre lecteur. Les résultats peuvent différer d’un lecteur à l’autre et ne constituent pas une mesure pertinente pour savoir si votre lecteur fonctionne convenablement. Pour vérifier la précision de votre lecteur, vous devez comparer régulièrement les résultats du lecteur avec ceux obtenus par un laboratoire. Consultez la page 112 pour obtenir plus de renseignements.
IMPORTANT : Si une autre personne vous aide à effectuer votre test, le lecteur doit toujours être nettoyé avant que cette personne puisse l’utiliser. Consultez la page 98.
ATTENTION :
· Le système de surveillance de la glycémie OneTouch Verio Reflect® ne doit pas être utilisé chez les patients dans les 24 heures suivant la réception d’un test d’absorption du D-xylose, car il peut entraîner des résultats inexacts élevés.

3 Réalisation d’un test
· N’utilisez pas la gamme de lecteurs OneTouch Verio® dans le cas d’une présence avérée (ou une suspicion de présence) de PAM (Pralidoxime) dans l’échantillon sanguin entier du patient.
· N’utilisez pas vos bandelettes de test si votre flacon est endommagé ou ouvert. Cela pourrait entraîner des messages d’erreur ou des résultats erronés. Communiquez immédiatement avec le service à la clientèle si le flacon de bandelettes de test est endommagé. Les coordonnées du service à la clientèle se trouvent à la fin du présent manuel d’utilisation.
· Si vous ne pouvez pas effectuer un test en raison d’un problème avec vos fournitures de test, communiquez avec votre professionnel de la santé. Le fait de ne pas effectuer un test pourrait retarder des décisions de traitement et entraîner des conditions médicales graves.
· Le flacon de bandelettes de test contient des agents dessiccatifs qui sont nocifs s’ils sont inhalés ou avalés et peuvent causer une irritation de la peau ou des yeux.
· N’utilisez pas les bandelettes de test après la date de péremption (imprimée sur le flacon) ou la date d’élimination, selon celle de ces dates qui survient la première, au risque d’obtenir des résultats erronés.

Précautions relatives au stylo autopiqueur
ATTENTION :
Pour réduire le risque d’infection et de maladies propagées par le sang :
· Veillez à laver le site de prélèvement avec de l’eau chaude et du savon, à le rincer et à le sécher avant d’effectuer un prélèvement.
· Le stylo autopiqueur n’est destiné qu’à un seul utilisateur. Ne partagez jamais une lancette ou un stylo autopiqueur avec une autre personne.
· Utilisez toujours une lancette neuve et stérile chaque fois que vous effectuez un test.
· Gardez toujours votre lecteur et votre stylo autopiqueur propres (consultez la page 98).
· Le lecteur et le stylo autopiqueur ne sont destinés qu’à un seul patient. Ne les partagez pas avec d’autres personnes, y compris des membres de votre famille! Ne les utilisez pas sur plusieurs patients!
· Toutes les pièces de cette trousse sont considérées comme biologiquement dangereuses après avoir été utilisées et exposées au sang. Une trousse usagée pourrait transmettre des maladies infectieuses, même après avoir été nettoyée et désinfectée.
· N’utilisez pas les lancettes après la date de péremption imprimée sur l’emballage des lancettes.

Préparation de votre stylo autopiqueur 1. Retirer l’embout du stylo autopiqueur Tournez l’embout, puis retirez-le du stylo dans un mouvement rectiligne.
2. Insertion d’une lancette stérile dans le stylo autopiqueur Alignez la lancette tel qu’indiqué sur l’illustration, de façon à ce qu’elle rentre parfaitement dans le support de lancette. Enfoncez la lancette dans le stylo jusqu’à ce qu’elle s’enclenche complètement dans le support. Tournez le couvercle de protection en effectuant un tour complet jusqu’à ce qu’il soit possible de le détacher de la lancette. Gardez le couvercle de protection pour le retrait et l’élimination de la lancette. Consultez la page 49.

3. Remettre en place l’embout du stylo autopiqueur Remettez l’embout sur le stylo; tournez l’embout ou poussez-le directement pour le fixer. Assurez-vous que l’embout est aligné comme indiqué sur l’image.
4. Ajustement du réglage de la profondeur Le stylo dispose de 13 réglages pour la profondeur de ponction. Chaque point affiché entre les chiffres de 1 à 7 sur la roulette de réglage de la profondeur indique un réglage de profondeur supplémentaire offert. Vous pouvez facilement régler la profondeur en tournant la roulette de réglage de la profondeur. Les plus petits chiffres sont destinés à des ponctions moins profondes et les chiffres supérieurs à une ponction plus profonde. REMARQUE : Essayez d’abord des réglages moins profonds et augmentez la profondeur jusqu’à atteindre une profondeur suffisante pour pouvoir prélever le bon volume d’échantillon sanguin.

5. Armer le stylo autopiqueur Tirez la commande coulissante vers l’arrière jusqu’à ce que vous entendiez un clic. En l’absence de clic, il se peut que l’armement se soit produit au moment où vous avez inséré la lancette.
Préparation du lecteur 1. Insérer une bandelette de test pour allumer le lecteur Insérez une bandelette de test dans la fente d’insertion prévue à cet effet, le côté doré de la bandelette et les deux broches argentées face à vous.

Prélèvement de sang sur le bout du doigt Choisissez un site de ponction différent à chaque test. Des ponctions répétées au même endroit risquent d’occasionner une douleur et la formation de callosités. Avant d’effectuer un test, lavez bien vos mains et le site de prélèvement à l’eau chaude et au savon. Rincez-les, puis séchez-les complètement. La présence de contaminants sur la peau peut avoir un effet sur les résultats. 1. Ponction sur votre doigt Maintenez fermement le stylo autopiqueur sur le côté de votre doigt. Appuyez sur le bouton déclencheur. Retirez le stylo autopiqueur de votre doigt.

2. Obtention d’une goutte de sang ronde Pressez ou massez doucement le bout de votre doigt jusqu’à l’apparition d’une goutte de sang ronde.
