Connecting Coaxial Cables

  • Each coaxial cable should be connected to the appropriate terminal as shown in the diagram. This applies to all unscreened non-isolated connections including diplex (TV/FM) units.

Cable Installation

  • Care should be taken to ensure that the screening braid is clamped securely by the cable clamp and does not come into contact with the centre conductor.

  1. Green or Green/White
  2. Blue or Blue/White
  3. Orange or Orange/White

Normally a maximum of 5 telephones can be connected to one exchange line. Any sockets are connected in parallel i.e.Pin 1 to Pin 1, Pin 2 to Pin 2 etc.

IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE INSTALLATION
SAFETY

  • Ensure the mains isolator is switched off at the consumer unit before commencing work. If in doubt consult a qualified electrician. Further information is available online. Wiring should be installed under the latest edition of the IET regulations BS7671.
  • The total load on the circuit may not exceed the rating of the circuit cable, fuse or MCB once the switch plate is installed.
  • EARTH = GREEN/YELLOW NEUTRAL = BLUE / pre APR 2004 BLACK LIVE = BROWN / pre APR 2004 RED

INSTALLATION

  • If replacing an existing switch plate, make note of the cable connections.
  • If this is a new installation, make sure you have installed the correct mounting box. Further information is available online.
  • If mounting in a metal box with four lugs bend the lugs fully back or remove.
  • Cables must be prepared to the appropriate length and fed through the most suitable point of the mounting box.
  • Connect the switch plate according to the diagrams displayed.
  • No bare wires may be visible.
  • Tighten terminal screws securely making sure not to over-tighten.
  • All switch plates must be earthed.
  • Mount the switch plate carefully and make sure not to trap or damage any cables between the switch plate and the mounting box.
  • Once installation is complete, restore power to the mains isolator switch and test.

DECORATIVE SWITCH PLATES

  • Do not install on freshly plastered or damp walls as they may cause the switch plates to tarnish.
  • The switch plates are supplied with a gasket- do not remove them.
  • Ensure the surface of the walls is flat and smooth.
  • For screwless switch plates, remove the front plate with a medium-sized flat-bladed screwdriver in the notch. Install switch plate and screw unit on to back box with screws provided. Clip the front plate on to switch plate unit.

GENERAL & CARE

  • At the end of their useful life, the packaging and product should be recycled perfectly. Check your local authorities for details.
  • Clean with a soft dry cloth only.
  • Do not use solvents, cleaning products or white spirits.

WARRANTY

  • This accessory is guaranteed for 25 years and will be repaired or replaced on condition that is returned to the point of purchase, and that the below conditions have been met.
  • Switch plates containing USB, dimmers and items with electronic components are subject to a 3-year warranty.
  • The correct installation procedure has been carried out and the accessory has not been overloaded nor has it been taken apart.
  • The accessory has not been exposed to decorative or cleaning materials. The Bill of Sale (dated receipt from point of purchase) accompanies the accessory.
  • Saxby does not accept responsibility for any installation costs associated with the replacement product.
