  • Repairs must always be referred to a Weller-trained specialist.
  • If the electrical tool‘s power supply cord is damaged, this must be replaced with a specially prefabricated power supply cord available through the customer service organisation.

WARNING Danger of asphyxiation, Danger of poisoning

Improper installation can result in above-normal workplace concentrations

  • Measure the workplace concentration upon completion of installation work Inappropriate maintenance cycles for gas media may result in above-normal workplace concentrations
  • Specify maintenance cycle Above-normal contamination levels in the ambient air during cleaning work on the pipe system/extraction area
  • If suction capacity is impaired by build-up within the pipe system, replace the contaminated parts A saturated activated carbon filter will not be able to capture harmful substances. The harmful substances will be released back into the environment unfiltered.
  • Observe the recommended filter replacement intervals.
  • High concentrations of harmful gases can lead to overheating of the activated carbon and possibly trigger spontaneous combustion of the filter.
  • Run the unit on clean air for several minutes before switching off.

Specified Conditions Of Use

This filtration system is suitable for the extraction and filtration of particles and gases, depending on the filter medium used. This device may only be used at room temperature and indoors. The unit is designed for use as a surface extraction unit and is not suitable for extracting fumes directly from the soldering gun.

WARNING Danger of asphyxiation, Danger of poisoning

Improper use may result in respiratory problems, asphyxiation, poisoning or cancer

  • Particles and gases which are unsuitable for the filter medium in use may not be extracted.
  • Liquids and flammable gases may not be extracted
  • Never use the device without a filter or with a full filter.
  • Never use the device without the fan cover

WARNING Fire and explosion hazard The unit is not permitted to be used for the extraction of inflammable gases. The unit must not be exposed to temperatures above 50°C, naked flame or condensed solvents. The organisation operating the unit is responsible for the observance of the legal limits for noxious substances at the place of work. The filtration system may only be put into operation if it is in perfect working order.

Intended use of the soldering station/ desoldering the station also includes the requirement that you

  • adhere to these instructions,
  • observe all other accompanying documents,

Operation

Notice

The unit may emit dust from the main filter after transportation. Make sure that the unit is put into service in a suitable room.

CAUTION A high noxious gas concentration will cause the activated charcoal to heat up. To avoid overheating, the unit should be run without noxious gases for several minutes before switching off. Put the tool into operation as described in the chapter „Placing into operation“. Please adhere to the operating instructions of the connected devices. Check to see if the mains voltage matches the ratings on the nameplate. Make sure the machine is switched off before plugging in.

Optimal gas filtration is achieved as follows:

  • Temperature of process air in gas filter < 38 °C
  • Relative humidity < 60 %
  • Gas molecules > 30 g/mol (better filtration results are achieved with larger molecules)
  • The boiling point of the gas molecules > 0 °C

Care and maintenance

WARNING

Before doing any work on the machine, pull the plug out of the socket. The unit must not be altered or modified in any way! Repairs must always be referred to a Weller-trained specialist. Use original replacement parts only

Filter change

The normal service life of a main filter in the electronics industry is 1500 hours. The main filter should be changed at least once a year in order to ensure proper gas separation. An alarm sounds and the red warning light flashes: The recommended service life of filter has expired. Indicates that the filter needs changing. Reset the alarm with the reset function on the control panel and schedule a filter change. An alarm sounds and the red warning light is lit continuously: Extraction capacity is too low. Switch off the filter unit. Check the nozzles and tubes, and clean them if necessary. If the alarm sounds again the next time the unit is turned on, the filter must be changed. If no action is taken, the filter unit will cut out after five minutes in order to avoid overheating. When changing the main filter the filtration time can be reset as follows: Keep the reset button pressed and, at the same time, turn on the switch until a signal sounds.

Cleaning

To ensure that the unit functions properly, the nozzle, extractor arm and connecting hose must be cleaned on a regular basis
