Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
-
Do I need special tools for installation?
Basic tools like channel locks, vice, Loctite, and a floor jack handle are recommended for installation. -
Can I install the lift kit alone?
While possible, it is recommended to have an extra person assist during installation, especially for installing the rear extended shock.
ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTION
- Remove the rear trunk trim to access rear upper bolts.
- The pieces with the chrome anchors need to be removed to allow access to the bolts as well.
- On the rear this is how the spacer is installed on the top. Also, on the rear it receives a shock extension shaft. Put Loctite on the end of the shaft and thread on. Use two pairs of channel locks to torque the shaft tight. It does not need to be torqued to anything specific. Just tight as you can. It won’t come loose due to the tension that on the shaft at all times.
-
Installation of rear spacer with rear strut removed install into a vice or secure it.
-
Remove the black metal cap secured by 4 nuts. There is no tension when removing this.
-
Apply Loctite that is supplied on the threads.
-
Screw on shock extension provided.
-
transfer the rubber isolator and the plastic leveling trim from the inside of the aluminum strut mount.
- Now install the aluminum spacer. The lip faces downwards and slips into the plastic leveling spacer.
1. Bolt up the top of the strut with the upper sway link bolt installed (loosely).
2. Wrap a strap around the bottom of the strut and attempt to pull it in towards the body while pushing down on the hub
3. Push on the hub with a piece of wood as leverage
4. Use a punch to help guide the holes, and eventually get the bolt in
5. Use the jack to push it up and reinstall the nut on the ball joint. May need to use a piece of wood and push down on the ball joint to keep it from spinning or use a T30 torx with an 18mm socket. I broke my T30 so wood and pressure it was!
-
loosening the LCA bushing on the front to help get more motion.
-
Front spacer requires removal of the upper strut mount. It does not require compressing the strut spring. Its direct fit.
Install spacer on top of OEM Strut mount reusing the OEM Nuts. -
Then plastic spacer is added back on top
-
Now the original rubber spring holder
-
Now you can reinstall the upper mount on the rear shock and reinstall back into the vehicle.
-
Install everything back in reverse order.
-
Installing the new rear extended shock can be tough alone. Having an extra person prying down on the suspension with a long breaker bar (floor jack handle) helps pull the suspension down to get the lower shock bolts back in place also a trick is to loosen all the subframe bolts completely except for a few threads. this will also help with reinstallation.
Now onto the front.
- Remove sway bar links
- Loosen all 4 subframe bolts but not entirely. just enough so the subframe is still held up securely.
- Remove lower strut fork bolts
- Loosen spindle nut. you can use a hammer and vibrate the spindle, so the upper control arm comes loose. You do not need to remove the upper control arm unless you are installing new control arms.
- Remove 3 upper nuts that secure the upper strut inside the engine bay.
- With the strut removed you will now install the spacers. installation is very straight forward. you will use the provided nuts to install onto the spacer to the strut. then you will mount into the car with new studs built into the spacer.
-
When installing back into the vehicle you can loosen the axle nut and loosen the outer axle in the hub to keep from accidentally pulling the axle out of the joint. Once you get the strut in you can insert the axle back into the spindle. This step is not 100% needed but we recommend for first-time installers to do this as a preventive measure.
-
Now you can reattach the upper control arm and tighten the subframe back in place. Don’t forget to reinstall the sway bar links as well.
