INSTRUCTIONS

The Ovation Series of filtration pumps can be used for aquariums and terrariums from 10 to 80 gallons if used singly, or larger if more than one pump is employed. It offers a combination of mechanical, biological and chemical filtration to assure a clean habitat for your aquatic pets.

AQUARIUM INSTALLATION:

  1. When used in an aquarium, mount the unit vertically with the glass \Fig.1) suction cups on the side of the tank that is least conspicuous. Keep the top of the filter body lower than the lowest water level you normally reach before cleaning or refilling. (Fig. 1)

  2. If you use the included adjustable spray bar (Fig. 2), mount it using the appropriate parts (Fig. 5) and adjust to the most appropriate angle for your tank (Fig. 6).

  3. If you prefer using the adjustable airflow regulator (Fig. 3), affix the assembly to the water outlet fitting on the filter body, place the regulator unit cable in the air with the included clip. Adjust the airflow as desired with the regulator for proper oxygenation levels.

TERRARIUM INSTALLATION:

  1. When used in a terrarium, mount the unit horizontally with the glass suction cups on the bottom of the tank in an area where it is least visible. Keep the top of the filter body lower than the lowest water level you normally reach before dealing or refilling. (Fig. 4)

  2. Ifyou use the included adjustable spray bar, mount it using the appropriate parts (Fig. 5) and adjust to the most appropriate angle for your installation.

MAINTENANCE & CLEANING:

IMPORTANT – ALWAYS DISCONNECT THE FILTER FROM THE ELECTRIC SUPPLY BEFORE REMOVING IT FROM THE WATER OR CARRYING OUT ANY MAINTENANCE.

FILTER MATERIAL : Regular cleaning and/or replacement of the filter sponge and activated carbon is necessary on a regular basis to en ure that the filter remains working efficiently. The sponge can be removed by simply opening the filter cartridge cover (Fig. 5) on the bottom of the unit. It can be cleaned and reused for two or three times before it needs to be replaced entirely. It should never be cleaned with untreated tap water as the chlorine substance will kill the useful filter bacteria growing on its surface. The carbon cartridge is removed from the top of the unit as illustrated in Fig. 5. This is a single-use cartridge and must be replaced.

IMPELLER : The impeller unit should be cleaned each time the sponge is cleaned or replaced. It is easily removed from the top of the unit (Fig. 5). Do not use an abrasive or caustic cleaning agent when cleaning the impeller unit.

WARNING: PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING IMPORTANT CAUTIONS

  • The filter uses 110v AC current. Any other voltage may result in serious damage to the motor.
  • The unit must be disconnected from the AC power source prior to any service or maintenance is performed.
  • Keep plug dry during maintenance and service. Plugging a wet plug into an AC outlet may cause a short and/or injury to yourself.
  • This filter is for indoor use only. The power cord is not rated for outdoor use.
  • Ovation Series filters are not designed to operate dry. Be sure that the water level is sufficient to maintain proper flow.
  • Ovation Series pumps have the Danner 1-Year Limited Warranty. They are warranted for manufacturing defects to the excursion of normal wear and tear, misuse througverloading or running dry, and negligence. Any modifications to the pumps will automatically void any warranties.

IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS – READ AND FOLLOW ALL SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS:

WARNING – To guard against injury, basic safety precautions should be observed, including the following.

DANGER – To avoid possible electric shock, special care should be taken in the usage of aquarium equipment. For each of the following situations, do not attempt repairs yourself: return the appliance to an authorized service facility for service or discard the appliance.

  1. A. If the appliance shows any sign of abnormal water leakage, immediately unplug from the power source.
    B. Do not operate any appliance if it has a damaged cord or plug, or if it is dropped or damaged in any manner.
    C. To avoid the possibility of the appliance plug or receptacle getting wet, position aquarium stand and tank to one side of a wall mounted receptacle to prevent water from dripping onto the receptacle or plug. A drip loop,” shown in the Figure at right, should be arranged by the user for each cord connecting an aquarium appliance to a receptacle. The ‘drip loop” is that part of the cord below the level of the receptacle or the connector if an extension cord is used, to prevent water traveling along the cord. If the plug or receptacle does get wet, DON’T unplug the cord. Disconnect the fuse or circuit breaker that supplies power to the  appliance. Then unplug and examine for presence of water in the receptacle.

  2. Close supervision is necessary when any appliance is used by or near children.

  3. To avoid injury, do not contact moving parts or hot parts such as heaters, reflectors, lamp bulbs, etc.

  4. Always unplug an appliance from an outlet when not in use, before putting on or taking off parts, and before cleaning. Never yank cord to pull plug from outlet. Grasp the plug and pull to disconnect.

  5. Do not use an appliance for other than intended use. The use of attachments not recommended or sold by the appliance manufacturer may cause an unsafe condition.

  6. Do not install or store the appliance where it will be exposed to the weather or temperatures below freezing.

  7. Make sure an appliance mounted on a tank is securely installed before operating it.

  8. Read and observe all the important notices on the appliance.

  9. If an extension cord is necessary. a cord with a proper rating should be used. A cord rated for less amperes or watts than the appliance rating may overheat. Care should be taken to arrange the cord so that it will not be tripped over or pulled.
