Installation

Feet Attachment

  1. Attach the feet to the base of the heater with 2 screws for each foot.
  2. Tighten the screws with a screwdriver to secure the feet.

Glass Panel Attachment

  1. Place the front glass panel over the front of the heater.
  2. Align the hooks at each side of the glass panel with the slots on each side of the heater body.
  3. Slide down the glass panel in place.
  4. Insert and tighten the front glass panel screw to secure it.

Wall Mounting

WARNING:
It is recommended to hire a licensed trade professional for wall mounting.

  1. This heater comes with a mounting kit for wall installation.
  2. Mount the heater to a wall at a minimum height of 300mm.
  3. Ensure the wall bracket is fitted horizontally and the cable is routed to the bottom right of the heater.
  4. A height of 600mm from the bottom of the heater to the floor is recommended for optimum viewing.
  5. Ensure the top of the heater is at least 1000mm from the ceiling or other objects to allow proper heat ventilation.
  6. Mark the locations for the 5 screw holes following the provided dimensions.
  7. Drill pilot holes with a 6mm drill bit.
  8. Attach the wall brackets using the supplied wall anchors and screws.
  9. Lift the heater and engage the rear slots of the heater with the wall bracket, ensuring it is sitting centrally.
  10. Bring the heater level with the wall.
  11. Mark the two bottom screw holes.
  12. Remove the heater and drill holes using a 6mm drill bit.
  13. Insert the supplied wall anchors into the drilled holes.
  14. Refit the heater to the wall fixing bracket and secure it in place using the provided screws.
  15. Place the front glass panel over the front of the heater, aligning the hooks with the slots on each side of the heater body.
  16. Slide down the glass panel in place.
  17. Insert and tighten the front glass panel screw to secure it.

Overview
The control panel is located at the top right side of the heater. The master switch must be switched on first for all operations. The control panel includes the following:

  • Heating power indicator
  • Wi-Fi indicator
  • Power buttons (Low power, High power)
  • Dimmer button
  • Remote control

Connect to the SmarterHome App

  1. If you already have a SmarterHome account, proceed to the next step. Otherwise, create a new account.
  2. The system will automatically recognize your country. If needed, you can manually select your country from the drop-down box.
  3. Enter your email address and tap “Get Verification Code” to continue.
  4. A 6-digit code will be sent to the submitted email address. Enter this code before the one-minute timer expires.
  5. Proceed to the next page and complete your SmarterHome profile.

INSTALLATION

Attaching the Feet

  1. Before using the heater, the feet must be fitted to the heater (unless wall mounting).
  2. Remove the heater and the feet from the carton. The feet and mounting screws are contained in the satchel along with this user guide.
  3. Remove the front glass panel from the heater.
  4. Place the heater on the floor with the bottom facing up. Take care of the power switch while the heater is upside down.
  5. There are four feet of mounting holes at the bottom of the heater. The plastic feet have a location post, ensure these posts are aligned and positioned in the corresponding holes at the base of the heater, then turn feet to align with the 2 screw mounting holes.Kogan-KASHFH20WGA-SmarterHome-Portable-Electric-Fireplace-Heater-fig- \(2\)
  6. Attach the feet to the base of the heater with 2 screws for each foot and tighten with a screwdriver to secure.
  7. Place the front glass panel over the front of the heater aligning the hooks at each side of the glass panel with the slots on each side of the heater body. Then slide down the glass panel in place.
  8. Insert and tighten the front glass panel screw to secure the front glass panel to the heater.

Wall Mounting

WARNING:
If you aren’t confident with wall-mouthing the heater yourself, consult a licensed trade professional.

  1. This heater comes with a mounting kit to mount the heater to a wall.
  2. This appliance is designed to be permanently fixed to a wall at a minimum height of 300mm. The wall bracket must be fitted horizontally and the cable routed to the bottom right of the heater.
  3. A height of 600mm from the bottom of the heater to the floor is recommended for optimum viewing.

  6. Attach the wall brackets using the supplied wall anchors and screws.

  8. Gently bring the heater level with the wall.

  10. Remove the heater ensuring that the bottom fixing bracket is rotated up.
  11. Drill the hole using a 6mm brill bit and insert the supplied wall anchors.
  12. Refit the heater to the wall fixing bracket and rotate the bottom fixing bracket down again and use the screws provided to permanently secure the heater in place.
  13. Place the front glass panel over the front of the heater aligning the hooks at each side of the glass panel with the slots at each side of the heater body. Install App
Download the “Kogan SmarterHome” app from the Play Store (Android) or App Store (iOS).

  1. If you already have a SmarterHome account, select ‘Log In’. To register a new account, select ‘Sign Up’.
  2. The system will automatically recognise your country. If needed, you can manually select your country from the drop-down box. Enter your email address and tap “Get Verification Code’ to continue.

Set device in pairing mode

  • When the device is first turned on, it may automatically enter pairing mode (WI-FI indicator. will be flashing rapidly).
  • If not automatically in pairing mode when powered on, you can manually set the device by pressing and holding the low power (1000W) button for 5 seconds until the Wi-Fi indicator begins rapidly flashing blue.

Add device through the network

  1. Once registered, tap “Add Device” on the app’s home page, or the “+” in the upper right corner, to add a new device through the network.

  2. Select the product type from the list of options in the app (Heating & Cooling → Kogan Smart Fireplace).

    Notes:

    • The device and the app have to use the same Wi-Fi network.
    • The device is only compatible with 2.4 GHz networks.
    • Depending on the product, Steps 3 and 4 may be in the opposite order.
  4. Ensure that the device is in pairing mode, with the Wi-Fi indicator flashing rapidly, and tap “Confirm indicator rapidly blink”

  5. The device will commence the pairing process and connect to the app. Ensure your Wi-Fi router, mobile phone, and the SmarterHome™ device are kept close until the connection is complete.

    Note:
    Once connected, you can select Create + corner (or from the Scene tab) to group connected SmarterHome products and automate their functions.

Having trouble connecting?
The prior steps detail the process for the “EZ Mode” connection. If that does not work for your connection, we suggest trying it again, and if still no success, attempting the following method for AP Mode connection.

Set device in AP pairing mode
Set the device in pairing mode by pressing and holding the low power (1000W) button for 5 seconds until the Wi-Fi indicator begins slowly flashing blue.

Using AP Mode to add a device

  1. Follow the previous steps to select your product type (Heating & Cooling → Kogan Smart Fireplace).

  2. Adjust your connection method by tapping on the mode type in the top-right corner of the screen. Select the set-up type.

  3. Ensure that the device is in pairing mode, with the Wi-Fi indicator flashing slowly. and tap the indicator slowly to blinkKogan-KASHFH20WGA-SmarterHome-Portable-Electric-Fireplace-Heater-fig- \(18\)
    Note:

    • The device and the app have to use the same Wi-Fi network.
    • The device is only compatible with 2.4 GHz networks.

  4. Enter your Wi-Fi details. Your SmarterHome device and the app must be connected to the same Wi-Fi network during setup.

  5. Follow the in-app prompts to continue the AP Mode connection, which will pair your mobile phone to the device’s Wi-Fi hotspot to ensure a connection. This may be named “SL-KoganSmart”, “SmartLife-XXXX”, or another similar name.
    Note:
    If the Wi-Fi hotspot does not appear on your phone in the list of available networks, your device may not be set in AP Pairing Mode correctly. Try repeating the steps outlined above to ensure your device is ready for connection.

  6. The device will commence the pairing process and connect to the app. Ensure your Wi-Fi router, mobile phone, and SmarterHome device are kept closed until the connection is complete.

OPERATION

Controls
Once the heater has been connected to the SmarterHomeTM App, the smartphone will take control and communicate with the control box. If your home network is not working, it is still possible to operate the heater via the control panel on the heater or with the remote control.

Setting Temperature
This setting is only applicable for the temperature in standard heating mode, not for the temperature in the timer mode. The default set temperature is 30°C.

  1. Tap “Switch” to turn the heater and flame effect on.
  2. Tape the “+” or “-” buttons to set the desired temperature (range 15 – 30°C).

Changing Power Mode

  • Tape the “Heating” key to select between 1000W (low), 2000W (high) or OFF (No heating).
  • The App and heating indicator will show the heating status.

Note:
The heater only starts working when the set temperature is higher than the room temperature.

Setting Flame Brightness
Tap “Settings –> Brightness” to set the desired flame brightness. The default flame brightness is max level. There are 5 flame brightness levels available.

Setting Timer

  1. Tap “Settings → Schedule” to set a new timer.
  2. Click the “Add” key to set the switch-on time first, then select switch “ON”, set the desired temperature and set the desired heating level, finally click “Save” to finish the setting of the switch-on time.
  3. Click the “Add Schedule” key to set the switch-off time first, then select switch “OFF” and click “Save” to finish the setting of the switch-off time.
  4. Repeat the “Add Schedule” operations to set more timers.
  5. Slide the timer settings leftwards to delete unwanted timers.

Viewing Timer Setting
Tap “Settings → Schedule” to view the current timer settings.

Safety Cut-out
This heater is fitted with a safety cut-out which will operate if the heater overheats (e.g. Due to blocked air vents). For safety reasons, the heater will not automatically reset. To reset the heater, disconnect the heater from the mains supply for at least 15 minutes. Reconnect the supply to the mains and switch on the heater.

Remote Control Operation

Notes:

  • The heater should be powered on using the master switch before it can be operated by remote control.
  • The heater only starts working if the set temperature is higher than the room temperature.
  • The remote control requires 2x AAA size batteries (Not included).
  • There might be a slight delay for the receiver to respond to the transmitter. Do not press the buttons more than once within 2 seconds for the correct operation.
  1. Press the button once on the remote control, this turns the heater and the flame effect ON/OFF.
  2. Press the 1000W button once for the low heat settings; press twice to switch off the heat setting.
  3. The heating pilot light will appear green to indicate that the function is ON.
  4. Press the 2000W button once for the high heat settings; press twice to switch off the heat setting.
  5. The heating pilot light will appear red to indicate that the function is ON.
  6. Press the DIMMER button to toggle between 5 different flame brightness levels.
