FAQs
Do I need to ground the fixture?
Yes, the fixture must be grounded in accordance with local and national
electrical codes. Not all enclosures include a ground terminal, so please
refer to the specific enclosure’s documentation.
How should I separate Class 2 wiring from Class 1 and line voltage wiring?
Class 2 wiring must be separated from Class 1 and line voltage wiring by a
physical barrier or a distance of 0.25 in (6 mm). Please refer to Application
Note #142 for further information.
What is the maximum length for the DALI Digital Link?
The length of the DALI Digital Link is limited by the wire gauge used for
DA+ and DA-. Please refer to the table below for more information:
Wire Gauge | Maximum Length |
---|---|
B3 | Unknown |
How should I connect multiple drivers with a power supply enabled?
The DA+ and DA- terminals of each driver must connect to their respective
positive and negative terminals. Ensure proper connections when multiple
drivers are power supply enabled.
Should I disable the digital bus power supply if the driver is not powering
the DALI link?
Yes, drivers must be configured to have the digital bus power supply
disabled if they are not powering the DALI link. For more information, please

Driver Mounting
Mount driver flush against fixture to provide the best heat transfer. Avoid mounting the driver close to a heat source such as a fixture cover plate or light source.
Driver must be electrically grounded for proper performance and to meet UL and NEC requirements.

Power Wiring
- The fixture must be grounded in accordance with local and national electrical codes. Not all enclosures include ground terminals.
- Class 2 must be separated from Class 1 and line voltage wiring by the following: 0.25 in (6 mm) or physical barrier. Please refer to Application Note #142 for further information.
- DALI Digital Link length is limited by the wire gauge used for DA+ and DA- in the table below.
- DA+ and DA- terminals must connect to respective positive and negative terminals when multiple drivers are power supply enabled.
- Drivers must be configured to have the digital bus power supply disabled if they are not powering the DALI link.
- Terminal blocks on the drivers accept only solid 18 AWG to 16 AWG (0.75 mm2 to 1.5 mm2) wire. To use wire gauges larger than the terminal blocks’ rated gauge of 16 AWG (1.5 mm2), connect up to 3 ft (1.0 m) of 18 AWG to 16 AWG (0.75 mm2 to 1.5 mm2) wire to the LED driver terminal blocks, then connect 12 AWG or 14 AWG (4.0 mm2 or 2.5 mm2) up to the length allowed in the above table.
- Do not exceed cable lengths of 1000 ft (305 m).
Load Wiring
The positive terminals of both output channels are electrically connected inside the driver. This supports the use of common anode loads. Terminal blocks on the drivers accept only solid 18 AWG to 16 AWG (0.75 mm2 to 1.5 mm2) wire.
