Additional instructions
-
Arrange the drawers, bins, shelves and baskets according to the loading plan in the operating instructions in order to make the most effective use of the energy supply.
-
The instructions for use including the loading plan must be followed in order to preserve the food under optimal conditions for the longest possible period, and avoid wasting food.
-
Check the compartments included in your appliance using the product information sheet attached to the instructions.
-
Food items should be stored in specific locations and separately from each other to avoid cross-contamination.
-
For the 0-star or ice making compartment, depending on the appliance:
-
Ice cubes
For compartments with stars, depending on the appliance: -
Short storage of frozen food, up to 2-3 days (No home freezing)
-
Medium storage of frozen food, up to 1 month (No home freezing)
-
Long storage of frozen food, up to 1 month (No home freezing)
-
Long storage of frozen food, up to 1 year + Home freezing possible from 3 to 12 months
-
-
Do not exceed the storage time recommended by the supplier of the frozen food stored in the freezer compartments and frozen food storage compartments.
-
Do not store carbonated drinks in the freezer compartments or low-temperature compartments. What’s more, do not consume certain products such as sorbets when they are too cold.
-
When freezing food, it must not be placed in direct contact with the food that is already being stored.
-
If you are planning to freeze items on a daily basis, reduce the amount to be frozen.
-
The ice trays (ice cube trays, ice packs, etc.) must be stored in the coldest compartment for optimal results.
-
Leave the food to cool down to room temperature before placing it in the appliance. Hot food increases energy consumption by diffusing heat.
-
The recommended temperature setting in each compartment is specified in the product information sheet attached to the instructions. This setting must be observed in order to preserve food and optimal conditions.
-
The internal temperatures and energy consumption can be affected by factors such as the location of the refrigeration appliance, the ambient temperature, how full it is and how often the door(s) is/are opened.
-
The setting of any temperature control device may need to be changed to compensate for these factors.
-
Examples of a room for adjusting the temperature control according to the ambient temperature (°C):
- NORMAL ≈ +24°C (± 4°C): Living room with normal heating like a kitchen
- COLD ≈ 16°C (± 4°C): Unheated room in winter like a garage in a cold region
- HOT ≈ 32°C (± 4°C): Non-air-conditioned room in summer in a hot region
-
Any modification of the temperature settings outside of the recommended range can shorten the shelf life of the food and leading to poor storage conditions, which could ultimately make it unfit for consumption and result in food waste.
-
Any modes, options and special characteristics (winter setting, rapid freezing mode, etc.) described in the operating instructions can affect the temperature settings for a defined period of time or until the user takes action. Be careful when using these features.
-
The installation requirements of the operating instructions must be observed:
- Optimal location
-
Do not place the appliance in direct sunlight or near a heat source such as an oven, microwave or radiator.
-
The overall operating dimensions must be evaluated. This is done by checking the dimensions as well as the minimum clearances required to open and close the appliance’s door(s).
-
The appliance must not be installed behind a locking door, a sliding door or a door with a hinge on the side opposite that of the appliance, thus preventing the appliance from fully opening.
- Levelling
-
Do not install the appliance on a carpet or similar floor covering.
-
The feet may include adjustment screws or levelling feet to level the unit on an uneven surface.
- Connection to the power supply network
WARNING : The appliance must be connected to a mains socket with a
protective earth connection.
The appliance must not be connected via an extension cable or power strip.
C AUTION: Do not bend, crush or pinch the power supply cable.
Leave enough space behind the appliance so that it is not in direct contact
with the mains socket.
DANGER: Do not connect the appliance to the mains with wet hands, as this
could result in an electric shock.
- Follow the requirements of the operating instructions, including maintenance and cleaning, as well as the maintenance and cleaning intervals, the operating conditions including the start-up and shut-down procedures, the adjustment of the temperature and any of the functions specified according to the appliance.
- If the appliance does not use an auto-defrost technology, defrosting should be carried out regularly and necessary precautions should be taken to prevent the food temperature from increasing too much, such as packaging the frozen food in multiple thicknesses of newspaper.
- An increase in the temperature of frozen food during manual defrosting, maintenance or cleaning can reduce the shelf life of the food.
- A freestanding appliance is not intended to be used as an integrated appliance, so please check the type of construction in the product information sheet on the leaflet attached to the instructions.
- If the appliance is an integrated-type product, the dimensions of the flush-mounting diagram and the additional air circulation requirements must be observed.
- An appliance which does not have a four-star compartment is not suitable for freezing food.
- Check the compartment types in the product information sheet attached to the instructions.
- Respect the climatic class(es) of the appliance specified in the product information sheet attached to the instructions or the appliance nameplate.
- The appliance may only be used within an ambient temperature range as defined in these classes:
- SN/Subnormal: Between 10 and 32°C
- N/Normal: Between 16 and 32°C
- ST/Subtropical: Between 16 and 38°C
- T/Tropical: Between 16 and 43°C
- A multi-class appliance can handle the lowest and highest temperature of all classes covered.
WARNING : Using the appliance in an ambient temperature that is outside the recommended range may lead to a variation in internal temperatures, leading to inferior performance and premature ageing.
-
If the refrigeration appliance is switched off for a prolonged period (power cut or failure of the refrigeration system, door(s) or lid(s) left ajar):
- Do not refreeze previously stored frozen food if the temperature holding time (time it takes for the temperature to rise with the door closed) indicated on the nameplate affixed to the appliance has, or seems to have been, exceeded.
- If the food has thawed but is still sufficiently cool (maximum 4-8°C), it can only be stored temporarily in a fresh food storage compartment (refrigerator) awaiting quick consumption. What’s more it is preferable to cook the food at a high temperature to reduce the risk of contamination.
WARNING : If in any doubt about whether some food, that is thawed (even slightly), has been properly preserved, do not consume it at the risk of being contaminated as a result of the growth of bacteria.
-
In the event of temporary shut-down of the refrigeration appliance (emptying, defrosting, cleaning and drying), make sure that you do not to exceed the temperature holding time (time it takes for the temperature to rise with the door closed) indicated on the nameplate affixed to the appliance so that the food doesn’t thaw.
-
If the door(s) or lid(s) has/have a key lock, do not leave the key within reach of children or near the refrigeration appliance, so that children cannot get locked inside it.
-
Before recycling the appliance, remove the door(s) to prevent children from getting trapped inside.
WARNING : Observe the waste sorting and recycling guidelines for the appliance as specified at the end of these instructions. The latter also apply to the refrigerant gas contained in the compressor and the cooling circuit, which must not be allowed to evaporate in the open air, under any circumstances.
