Aroha SM11R User manual
Please read the manual carefully to ensure safe, proper use and store it in a safe place for future reference. Scan the QR-code or visit www.invisionretail.com/manual for the step-by-step instructions with video to safely install your detector and consult the FAQ.

A. Activate/Deactivate the detector

The device is deactivated by default before leaving our factory. Before the detector can be used, it must be activated.
Power on: Press and hold the test button (= centre front of detector) until the red LED indicator lights up and a beep sounds; this takes at least 10 seconds. After you release the test button the detector is activated and can be used.
Power off: Press and hold the test button (= centre front of detector) until the red LED indicator lights up twice and a beep sounds twice; this takes at least 10 seconds. After you release the test button the detector is deactivated and cannot be used.

CAUTION

  • The installation instructions must be followed strictly to avoid unsafe conditions.
  • Do not paint your detector.
  • The battery cannot be replaced; do not try to replace the battery as this will render the detector unuseable and can cause a fire due to the highcapacity lithium battery.

B. LED indicators

Normal status: Green LED flashes once every 60 seconds.
Test status: Red LED flashes once every second.
Silence mode: Red LED flashes once every 8 seconds.
Low battery status: Red LED flashes once every 60 seconds and 1 beep every 60

seconds.
Fault status:| Red LED flashes once every 40 seconds and 1 beep every 40 seconds.

C. Interlink the detectors

Step 1: Activate the transmit mode of 1 detector by pressing the test button 4 times within 1 second. If this is done correctly, the green LED will flash rapidly for 1 minute. Within this minute you can connect the smoke detector to other connectable detectors.
Step 2: Press the test button of the other detector(s) twice within 1 second. This detector goes into reception mode and the green LED light will flash slowly to confirm this. If pairing is successful, the green LED light on the receiving smoke detector(s) will stop flashing.

Optional: Upgrade your setup with an alarm notification on your phone by adding a WiFi interlinked smoke detector (SM11HW) to your interlinked group.

Frequently Asked Questions

Maximum interlinked detectors:

30 connectable Aroha smoke, CO and combination detectors can be interlinked in 1 group

etector sounds an alarm:

The test mode is activated as the test button was not pressed fast enough. After the alarm stops, try pressing the test button again 4 times as quickly as possible within 1 second.

Connection fails:

The green LED will continue to flash for 1 minute, followed by a red LED for 2 seconds to indicate that the connection was not successful. In that case, start the pairing process again.

Test detectors:

he detectors have a transmission range of 100 meters without obstructions, such as walls, ceilings, doors and windows. After installation, you can test whether all detectors are properly connected to each other by pressing the test button of 1 detector; then all test alarms from all linked detectors will also sound.

Unlinking:

Press the test button on the detector twice within 1 second and the green LED will slowly flash for 60 seconds (receiving mode). After this period, it will stop flashing and the alarm is unlinked.

D. Test your alarm

Test the detector to ensure proper operation by pressing the test button (= centre front of detector). The alarm on the detector and all interconnected detectors will sound.
If there is no sound from the tested detector, refer to the “Trouble shooting” section.
If there is no sound from the connected detectors, repeat the interlinking- proces as discribed in chapter C.

CAUTION

  • DO NOT test your detector using an open flame. This may damage the detector or ignite combustible materials and start a structural fire.
  • DO NOT stand close to the detector when the alarm is sounding. Exposure at close range may be harmful to your ears.
  • Test the detector at least once a month.

E. Silence mode

Silence mode should only be used if the source of the alarm is known and safe. Press the test button (= centre front of detector) to set the silence mode. During silence mode, the red LED light flashes once every 8 seconds. The detector is automatically reset after 10 minutes.

CAUTION
Before using the silence mode, identify the source of the smoke and be certain a safe condition exists.

F. Mount the detector

Determine correct mounting location

  • Check figure 3, 4 and 5 for correct mounting locations. Most EU countries require smoke detectors on all floors and escape routes.

  • Smoke spreads horizontally after rising to the ceiling, so install the detector in middle of the ceiling.

  • If the length of the room or the hall is beyond 10 meters, you need to install multiple alarms.

  • Make sure your mounting locations are within reach of other interlinked detectors. The detectors have a transmission range of 100 meters without obstructions, such as walls, ceilings, doors and windows.

Do not mount detector on these locations

  • Areas with high-humidity (e.g. kitchens, bathrooms), insects, dust/dirt, easily polluted and high-temperature.
  • Within 1.5 meters of lamps, next to air outlets (e.g. doors/windows), fans and central heating.
  • In top of room with sloping roofs, in the corner of the room or other dead-air spaces.
  • Places with difficult access, making it difficult to operate the test function.

Mounting instructions
Step 1: Twist the mounting bracket counterclockwise off the detector.
Step 2: Put the bracket on the mounting position and mark the 2 screw holes.
Step 3: Drill two 5mm mounting holes and insert the two plastic anchor plugs by hammer.
Step 4: Screw the mounting bracket to the ceiling or the wall.
Step 5: Attach the detector to the mounting bracket and turn clockwise to lock the detector.

G. Maintenance and cleaning

There are a few steps you need do to keep it working properly:

  • Test the detector at least once a month.
  • Do not paint the detector. Paint will seal the vents and interfere with the sensor’s ability to detect smoke.
  • Never attempt to disassemble the detector to clean inside. This will damage the detector and possibly render it unuseable.
  • Clean the detector at least once a month to remove dust, dirt or debris. Use a vacuum cleaner with a soft brush and vacuum all sides and covers of the detector.

H. Trouble shooting

  • The detector does not sound when testing: Check whether the smoke detector is activated.
  • The detector beeps every 60 seconds and red LED flashes: The battery is low; the detector needs to be replaced. Contact us on contact@invisionretail.com to replace it if the warranty is still in place.
  • The detector beeps every 40 seconds: Clean the smoke detector, by using a vacuum cleaner with a soft brush and vacuum all sides and covers of the smoke detector. If the issue continues, the detector is malfunctioning. Contact us on  contact@invisionretail.com to replace it if the warranty is still in place.
  • False alarms triggered intermittently or when residents are cooking, taking showers, etc.: Check whether there is any danger from smoke and/or fire nearby. Once danger has been ruled out, press the test button to set the silent mode. To prevent future false alarms, clean and maintain the smoke detector as directed. Also consider installing the smoke detector in a different location if it gives a false alarm due to water vapor, for example.

I. Two years of warranty

During the specified warranty period of 2 years after purchase, we will repair or replace any defective detector that is returned. This warranty shall not apply to the detector if it has been damaged, modified, neglected, abused or altered after the date of purchase or if it fails to operate due to improper maintenance, and the unit will not be replaced or repaired. Please contact us at contact@invisionretail.com regarding the warranty.
The manufacturer shall have no liability for any personal injury, property damage or any special, incidental, contingent or consequential damage of any kind resulting from gas leakage, smoke, fire or explosion.
