How to Replace Batteries in a Qolsys Smoke Sensor Model QS5110-840

Description

This page shows battery replacement for Qolsys Smoke Detector Model QS5110-840. Because there are many different versions of smoke sensors, it is important to remove the sensor cover first to determine what kind of batteries are required for your equipment. We advise you to check before purchasing batteries.

Preparation

IMPORTANT customers who use myadt.ca Before removing the sensor, place the panel on test mode through myadt.ca. After logging in:

  1. Tap [Home]
  2. Tap [Place on Test]
  3. Enter your expiration date and time
  4. Enter your password
  5. Tap [Yes-Proceed]

Parts Required

  • Three AAA batteries
  • Small flathead screwdriver

Instructions

  1. Grab the face of the smoke detector and twist to the left to release
  2. The alarm panel may begin to beep, you may choose to silence the alarm by entering your code
  3. Remove the old batteries with the use of the flathead screwdriver
  4. Put the new batteries in the smoke sensor
  5. Reposition the sensor back onto the back plate by aligning the marks on the sensor to the marks on the base plate
  6. Twist to the right, you should hear the sensor click into place
  7. Arm and disarm the alarm to clear panel alert

If the low battery alert does not clear or if the panel shows sensor tamper, walk through the steps above once more. It could be either the batteries or sensor cover not on properly
