Thus, act with caution:

  • We recommend using pot cloths and appropriate cooking cutlery!
  • The sandwich maker can be safely opened and closed during operation at the heat-insulated handle.
  • Do not use the appliance’s upper side as depositing rack or working top as it will get hot when operating the appliance! As protection against fi re, do generally not put objects made of paper, plastic, fabric or other inflammable material on hot surfaces!
  • Do not cover the base of the oven chamber/heating elements with aluminium foil during use!
  • Attention! Hazard of fi re! Overheated fats and oils can inflame. Therefore, food containing fats and oils may only be prepared under supervision! Bread toasted too long can also inflame!
  • Do not transport the appliance when hot. It must have cooled completely before cleaning or moving it!

    • Place the appliance on a heat-resistant, stable and even surface (no varnished surfaces, no table cloths etc.).
    • Place it beyond children’s reach.

Important notes

  • Do not place food packed in foil or outsized in the appliance.
  • Do handle with pointed or sharp objects on the toasting plates to avoid damaging the nonstick coating.
  • Do not immerse the appliance, the cord and the plug in water.
  • The glowing of the green pilot lamp is not a ready signal. It only indicates that the sandwich maker has reached the operating temperature. Decide for yourself how you like your sandwiches and check the level of browning.

CAUTION! To reduce the risk of injury by becoming entangled in a too long cord or by stumbling across it, the appliance only has a short cord. Extension cords are not recommended.

Non-stick coating

The toasting plates are equipped with a high quality non-stick coating. The coating is easy to clean and prevents food from sticking onto the surfaces.
ATTENTION: Do not scratch or cut on the surface of the toasting plates.
Never use cooking utensils made of metal as those might damage the nonstick coating.
Scratched toasting plates are not covered by the terms of warranty. Please also refer to the cleaning notes in this manual.

Prior to initial use

  • Remove possibly fixed protective foils, promotional material and packaging material from appliance and accessories. Clean the appliance as well as accessories according to the cleaning notes in this manual.
  • Before using the appliance for the first time heat it up for several minutes.
  • After the appliance has cooled down, please wipe the toasting plates with a moist cloth and dry carefully afterwards.

NOTE: When using the omelette chef for the first time, there might be a slight smoke and smell for a short while which is caused by the heating of some components. There is no need for concern, just make sure the room is well-aerated during this time.

How to operate your appliance

  1. Switching on
We recommend preparing the ingredients for your sandwiches before switching- on. The sandwich maker heats up quickly and is ready for use in no time.
Open the clamp on the handle. Open the appliance as far as it will go. Oil or grease the toasting plates slightly. Close the lid.
Connect the appliance to the mains supply. The appliance is now switched on and heats up. The red pilot lamp glows. As soon as the appliance is heated-up the green pilot lamp glows and indicates that the appliance has reached the operating temperature.
    You can start filling now.
Note: Always heat up the appliance with lid closed. This saves energy.

  2. Operating
Fill the sandwiches according to your taste and fantasy. Toast is suitable best for your sandwiches.
Try also whole meal or wholegrain toast beside wheat toast. The outsides of the toast slices should also be slightly spread with butter, margarine or oil.
Try also the sweet version with commercial puff pastry and fruit filling.
Place the sandwiches in the appliance. Close the appliance with slight pressure and close the clamp on the handle. The green pilot lamp goes out. The sandwich maker heats up. The sandwiches are ready after 2 to 4 minutes – depending on the ingredients, filling quantity and desired toasting level.
The illumination of the green pilot lamp is not a ready signal. It only indicates that the sandwich maker has reached the operating temperature. Decide for yourself how you like your sandwiches and check the level of browning. (Experience showed that the sandwiches are ready after 2 to 3 minutes.) Take the sandwiches out by using a wooden or plastic spatula in order to avoid damaging the non-stick coating of the toasting plates. When the green pilot lamp glows again, the appliance can be filled anew.
Note: For a good toasting result we recommend not filling the sandwiches too plumply so that no ingredients escape. Make sure the filling is arranged equally.

  3. Switching off
Switch off the appliance by pulling the mains plug. The pilot lamps go out.
Attention! During operation, the appliance’s surfaces are getting hot and firstly stay hot even after switching off the appliance! Hazard of burns!

Cleaning and maintenance

CAUTION: Hazard of injury and burns!

  • **** Always unplug the appliance before cleaning!

  • Do not immerse appliance, power cord and power plug in water nor clean it under running water!

  •  Always let the appliance cool down before cleaning!

  • Clean the appliance and the toasting plates after each use.

  • Due to the non-stick coating the toasting plates are very easy to clean. Best is to clean the plates being still warm with a soft brush or a damp cloth. Brush persistent residues with some oil and let soak for some minutes. After that, wipe again with a damp cloth. Then wipe with a dry cloth.
ATTENTION: Carefully clean the toasting plates. Never use sharp or pointed objects for cleaning! This will damage the non-stick coating!

  • After the appliance has cooled down, wipe the housing with a soft damp cloth with some detergent. Then wipe again with a dry cloth.

  • Make sure no steam or water can infiltrate the underside of the appliance.

  • Never use abrasives and solvents or sharp objects!

  • Never use steel wool or abrasive pads!

  • Never use oven sprays!

  • Never treat the appliance and accessory parts with a steam cleaner!

Storage

Disposal/recycling

Packaging material
Do not simply throw the packaging material away but recycle it.
Deliver paper, cardboard and corrugated cardboard to waste paper collection points.
Also put plastic packaging material and foils into the specific collection containers. The printed or embossed markings indicate the materials which were used: PE stands for polyethylene (code 02 means high-density PE, 04 stands for low-density PE), PS stands for polystyrene and CPE for chlorinated polyethylene. PAP 20 means corrugated cardboard and PAP 21 other cardboard. All plastics are thermoplastics which are very easy and efficient to produce. They are also very easy to recycle and therefore can even have a smaller ecological footprint than comparable cardboard packaging.

Disposal information
**** According to the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Directive (2012/19/EU), this product may not be disposed of with other household waste at the end of its service life. Therefore please submit it e.g. at a municipal collection point (e.g.
recycling center) according to the laws of your country of residence for the recycling of electrical and electronic appliances. Your municipality or city administration will inform you about the disposal options.
