Installation Instructions
Step 1: Remove Factory Components
Remove the following factory components from your Jeep
- Fuel tank skid
- Hitch (if installed)
- Exhaust hanger
- Heat shield
Step 2: Install Nutstrips (if necessary)
If you need to replace the factory nutstrips or do not have any, follow
these steps
- Remove the rear bumper
- Install the nutstrips in their corresponding slots in the frame rail
- Driver Side : B4W125144P (Part Number)
- Passenger Side: B4W125145P (Part Number)
- Use 10 x 1/2 SAE Washer (Part Number: 50NWSAFY) and 10 x 1/2-13 x 1-1/2 Grade 8 Hex Head Bolt (Part Numbe r: 50C150HCS8Y)
Step 3: Position and Lift Skid
Using a jack, place the skid underneath the fuel tank and lift it into
place.
Step 4: Install Hitch (if applicable)
If you are installing a hitch, follow these steps
- With the skid supported by the jack, position the hitch in place
- Start all bolts on the driver side and the front two on the passenger side
- Skip to Step 6
Step 5: Secure Skid without Hitch
If you are not installing a hitch, follow these steps
- With the skid supported by the jack, start all bolts on the driver side and the first three on the passenger side
Step 6: Install Exhaust Hanger
Place the exhaust hanger in its correct location and start the final two
bolts.
Step 7: Tighten Hardware
Tighten all the hardware to ensure a secure installation.

Installation Notes
- This fuel tank skid will only fit a Jeep Cherokee from 1997-2001
- This skid will need to be painted or powder coated after test fitment.
- The factory hitch (See image below) is the only hitch tested with this skid; further modifications may be required to work with other hitches.

- 3/4” Socket
- 18mm Socket
- 8mm Socket
- 14mm Socket or Wrench
- Ratchet and Extensions

- Step 1 : Remove the factory fuel tank skid and hitch (if installed), exhaust hanger, and heat shield from the Jeep.
- Step 2 : If you are replacing the factory nuts trips or do not have any, remove the rear bumper and install the outstrips in their corresponding slots in the frame rail.
Step 3 : Using a jack, place the skid underneath the fuel tank and lift it into place.- Step 4 : If you are not installing a hitch, skip to Step 5
- With the skid supported by the jack, position the hitch in place and start all bolts on the driver side and the front two on the passenger side. Skip to Step 6.
- Step 5 With the skid supported by the jack, start all the bolts on the driver side and the first three on the passenger side.
- Step 6 : Place the exhaust hanger in it’s correct location and start the final two bolts.
Step 7 : Tighten all the hardware.
