How to Use

  1. MEASURING THE RICE
Use the measuring cup provided. Each cup of uncooked plain rice normally can produce about 2 bowls of cooked rice.

  2. WASH RICE BEFORE COOKING
Before cooking, wash the rice thoroughly under cold running water to remove starch. Use a colander or fine sieve for this. DO NOT use the inner pot of the Rice cooker as you may damage the non-stick coating of the pot. If this occurs it may result in unsatisfactory cooking.
NOTE: Drier and fluffier rice is obtained by washing rice first.

  3. ADDINGWATERTOTHE INNER POT
Refer to the table below for indication.

    • For softer, fluffier rice – add a little more water.
    • For firmer, crunchier rice – reduce a little water
    • For the first few times, you may need to experiment with slight variations in the relative proportions of rice to water.
    • In order to achieve results best suited to your personal taste.
  4. CHECKING THAT THE COOKING POT IS SETPROPERLY ONTO THE INSULATION POT
Before placing the cooking pot into the cooker, check that both the heating plate, and the magnetic thermostat inside the insulation pot as well as the outer surface and base of the pot are all clean (without any leftover food particles or rice grains) and dry. Once the pot is inserted, turn it left and right to ensure proper contact in between the pot, heating plate and magnetic thermostat.
To ensure that the rice is cooked evenly, make sure rice is evenly distributed in the pot and not piled up on one side

  5.   COVER THE OUTER LID
When covering the outer lid, turn the cover until it is properly tightened. If cover is not securely tightened, it will affect the cooking

  6. CONNECT THE POWER CORD AND START COOKING
Plug into a 120V- power mains supply wall outlet.
    Power on

  7. TURN ON THE SWITCH TO COOK RICE
Press the cook button on the Rice Cooker. The heating power indicator light will glow. The cooking cycle will commence and will continue until the rice is fully cooked. The cooking cycle will be completed when all the water has evaporated. When more water is used, the cooking time will be longer.

  8.   OPEN THE LID & STIR THE RICE
After the rice is cooked, open the lid and loosen the rice well regardless of whether rice is to be served immediately or later.

  9.   ALLOWING THE RICE TO SETTLE
It is best to allow the rice to settle and absorb moisture for 10 minutes before serving.

  10. BROWN RICE
Brown rice can be cooked following the same instructions as above for white rice, except that slightly more water is needed and cooking time is a little longer.

IMPORTANT NOTE

  • A. When your rice cooker is new, you may notice some slight smoking or odor when in use for the first time. This is normal with most heating appliances. It will not recur after the first use. This does not affect the safety of your appliance, nor the quality of the rice.
  • B. Do not keep small amount of rice in the cooker for extended period of time, the rice will become drier.

Before using the rice cooker for the first time, wash the cooking pot and lid with warm soapy water. Rinse and dry thoroughly.
