PORTABLE FOCUSING LED
USER MANUAL

THANK YOU FOR CHOOSING GENARAY
The Genaray Torpedo is a great choice for photographers and videographers who need a powerful and focusable beam from a compact, portable source. This advanced light is perfect for events that are usually shot on location, such as weddings and meetings. The Torpedo’s COB LED technology offers a high- powered beam from a small array that eliminates the multiple shadows that are common in LED lighting. The Torpedo features an integrated Fresnel-style lens that focuses the beam from a concentrated 15° spot with a long throw to a wide 75° flood. The BLT-60 is set to a 5600 K daylight balance, and the bi-color BLT-60B can be adjusted from 3200 to 5600 K. Both models boast a 96 TLCI rating for extremely accurate color rendering. For additional control, the removable barndoors shape the beam while minimizing light spill.

ATTACHING THE BARN DOORS

Align the barn doors with the front of the Torpedo, and screw them on until they’re secure.

NOTE

The barndoor fixture should easily screw onto the light. Don’t use force if it seems hard to turn, because you can damage the threads. Unscrew the barn doors, and then realign them and screw them in again.

If you remove the lens for any reason, you can replace it by fitting it into the Torpedo with the textured side facing in toward the LED.

MOUNTING ON A LIGHT STAND

  1. Loosen the yoke’s locking screw, and fit the receiver over the light stand’s 5/8-inch stud. Tighten the locking screw until secure.
  2. Loosen the tilt angle screws, and adjust the tilt angle of the light. Tighten the screws until secure.

POWERING THE TORPEDO AND ADJUSTING THE BRIGHTNESS

AC Power
Important: The Torpedo is a multivoltage fixture capable of running on 120 to 240 V, 50/60 Hz. The included cable has a 120 V, 50 Hz (North American) plug. To use this fixture with other voltages, you must use a plug adapter (sold separately).
Attach the power adapter cord to the power input socket.
Make sure the unit is turned off. Insert the mini XLR connector from the AC power adapter into the Torpedo’s power input.

Note
The 3-pin mini XLR connector should fit easily into the Torpedo’s power input. Using force to insert the connector can damage the pins. Make sure the pins are aligned, and reinsert the connector until it clicks into place.

Battery Power
The Torpedo will operate with two different types of batteries.
Sony NP-F Series Batteries: Align the battery terminals, and slide the NP-F battery into the battery slot until it locks into place (Figure A).
Professional Batteries: Use the included D-tap cable to connect the battery’s D-tap port to the Torpedo’s power input (Figure B).
Press the on button. The light powers onto the previous brightness setting.

OPERATING THE TORPEDO

Using the Barndoors
Unfold the barn doors to shape the beam and prevent light spill.

Using a Diffuser or Filter
The Torpedo comes with two diffusers of different densities and three colored filters. To insert a diffuser or filter, follow these steps:

  1. Unscrew the barn doors from the focusing ring.
  2. Place the filter or diffuser over the lens. It will fit into the lens’s beveled inner edge.
  3. Replace the barn doors by screwing them onto the focusing ring.

Adjusting the Light
With the light turned on, press the up and down buttons to adjust the brightness from 1% to 100%, in 1% increments.

Adjusting the Color Temperature (BLT-60B Only)

  1. Press the Mode button so the color temperature blinks on the display.
  2. Use the up and down buttons to adjust the color temperature.
  3. Press the Mode button again to set the color temperature.

Adjusting the Fresnel Lens
The Torpedo has an integrated Fresnel-style lens that focuses the angle of the beam from a 15° spot to a 75° flood.
Turn the focusing ring to adjust the beam angle to the desired width.

  2. Adjust the umbrella to the desired distance from the light, and tighten the umbrella locking knob.

RECOMMENDED ACCESSORY

Bowens Mount Adapter
The BLT-60BA Bowens adapter ring screws onto the Torpedo and lets you attach light-shaping tools with Bowens-style S-mounts, such as softboxes, diffusers, and globes.
