genaray Quad Sun 1×4 Bi-Color Soft LED Panel Light Fixture

Quad Sun™ INTRODUCTION

THANK YOU FOR CHOOSING GENARAY

The Genaray Quad Sun LED light fixture provides photographers and videographers with extremely bright yet soft continuous light. This 1 × 4 fixture can operate on AC or battery power, and it features flicker-free light that’s ideal for shooting video at high frame rates. The light throws a beam with 120-degree coverage, and its integrated diffuser and recessed LEDs contribute to a bright and punchy single-shadow light that also has a soft wraparound quality.

The Quad Sun supports DMX-512, and its settings can be remotely controlled from a DMX console. There are 512 selectable channels and a 5-pin XLR output jack to daisy-chain other DMX-compatible lights. The Quad Sun comes in a heavy-duty, reinforced metal chassis that can withstand the most demanding professional environments. For compatibility in the studio, the integrated yoke can be mounted to a light stand with a baby pin or junior receiver.

INSTRUCTIONS

MOUNTING THE QUAD SUN

Mount the Quad Sun on any heavy-duty light stand or C-stand with a 5/8-inch baby pin, and turn the locking knob until secure.
Remove the locking knob to mount the Quad Sun into a 11⁄8-inch junior receiver.

Important! The Quad Sun and yoke weigh almost 50 lb. Make sure your light stand can support that weight.

POWERING THE QUAD SUN

The Quad Sun can be powered directly from an AC outlet or two V-mount batteries (not included)

USING THE QUAD SUN WITH AC POWER
The Quad Sun is a multi-voltage fixture capable of running on 100–240 V, 50/60 Hz. Connect the AC power supply to the Quad Sun, and plug it into an outlet.

USING THE QUAD SUN WITH BATTERY POWER

The Quad Sun can also be powered by two 14.8-volt V-mount batteries.
Important!
Do not use 26-volt batteries with this unit. Doing so will damage the light.
When attaching the battery, make sure the power switch is in the Off position, and the fixture is not plugged into a wall outlet.

Slide a V-mount battery into each V-mount plate until they click into place. A three stud battery can be used by connecting it to an adapter plate (sold separately).
The battery status indicator on the rear panel displays the remaining battery power.

BARNDOORS

Removing the Barndoors

  1. To remove the barndoors, push up on the top barndoor locking tabs to release the frame’s corners.
  2. Use two hands to pry the frame out of the top and bottom center clips, and pull the barndoors up and out of the bottom locking tabs.

Attaching the Barndoors

  1. To reinstall the barndoors, place the barndoor frame on the two lower tabs.

  2. Align the barndoor’s frame with the center clips, and press it in.

  3. Press the top of the barndoor frame into the top locking tabs until they click into place.

ADJUSTING BRIGHTNESS AND COLOR TEMPERATURE

Open the barndoors, and power on the Quad Sun. The LCD screen will display the previous settings.

Set the brightness and color temperature by rotating the dials on the back of the fixture.

  • The color temperature range is 3200 to 5600 K in 100 K increments.
  • The brightness range is 100% to 10% in 1% increments. For quieter operation, turn off the fan via the fan on/off switch.

Note
When the fan is turned off, the maximum brightness will be capped at 80%.
If the brightness is set over 80%, it will drop to 80% when the fan is turned off and resume when the fan is turned on.

USING DMX

The Quad Sun supports DMX-512 so the light’s settings can be remotely controlled from a DMX lighting control console.

Important!
Do not use a 5-pin XLR microphone cable to connect DMX devices. Use only cables that are made specifically for DMX devices. Substituting a microphone cable can cause data transmission problems in your DMX setup.

To set up DMX operation, follow these steps:

  1. Use a 5-pin XLR cable to connect a DMX controller to the Quad Sun DMX input connector.
  2. Use the Quad Sun’s DMX output connector to daisy-chain multiple lights.
  3. Press the dimmer dial to activate DMX mode.
  4. Turn the dial to select a DMX address.
Make sure the DMX address on the Quad Sun matches the DMX console. Press the dimmer dial again to return to brightness control mode.
