Important safety instructions! Please read before connection!

DANGER! (Electrical shock due to high voltages in the device)
The housing must not be removed! There are no parts to be maintained in the device. Inside the unit there are components which are under high electrical voltage.

Before each use, check the device for damage or the absence of components, protective devices or housing parts. If this is the case, the device must not be used!

Leave maintenance and repair work to a qualified service workshop or contact your dealer. In the case of a malfunction of the device, operation must also be stopped immediately until the device has been repaired by a specialist!

DANGER! (Electric shock due to short circuit)
Modifications to the power cord or plug are prohibited. If the power cord is damaged, it must be replaced immediately with an original spare part from the manufacturer.

Always make sure that the grounding of the device is maintained. Only use the supplied power cables and always maintain the earthed protective contacts on the side. Make sure that the sockets used have a properly functioning protective earth.

Failure to do so may result in fire or death due to electric shock!

DANGER! (For babies and children)
Dispose of or store any packaging material properly! Packaging material must be kept out of the reach of babies and children due to the risk of suffocation.

Ensure that children never use the appliance unattended! In addition, make sure that children do not remove (small) parts from the device, as they could suffocate by swallowing parts!

Hint! (Fire hazard due to overheating)
The maximum permissible ambient temperature of this device is 40°C.

Ensure that the unit is placed in a well-ventilated location away from direct heat sources, naked flames, combustible materials, and liquids. A minimum distance of 1 m is required.

Do not tape or cover the ventilation slots of the unit, or insert objects into the unit.

Hint! (Operating conditions)
Due to its structural characteristics, the device is designed for indoor operation (IP20).

Never expose the unit to rain, moisture or liquids as this may cause damage.

Vibrations, dust or sunlight can also cause damage, avoid them!

Hint! (Power supply)
This small diaphragm condenser microphone is operated with phantom power. According to DIN 45596, phantom power is a positive voltage of 12, 24 or 48 volts on both AF lines compared to the cable shielding.
The phantom power usually comes from mixing consoles, sound cards or microphone amplifiers, sometimes also from batteries.

If you do not use your device for a long period of time or carry out maintenance work, disconnect the device from the power source in order to minimize danger. Never pull the cable while phantom power is active!

Hint! (Condensation)
To avoid condensation in the unit, the unit should adapt to the ambient temperature before commissioning.

Hint! (Unwanted odours)
A new product can sometimes lead to unwanted odours. This reaction is normal and disappears after a few minutes.

Hint! (Damage to loudspeaker diaphragms due to feedback)
Avoid feedback by keeping the microphone away from activated speakers that are simultaneously listening to the signal. If necessary, turn off the speakers completely.

Hint! (Sensitive microphone capsule)
To avoid damage to the microphone capsule – never open the microphone basket!

Hint! (Sound pressure level/noise level to noise distance)
Observe the specified sound pressure level/noise level spacing to prevent destruction of the diaphragm caused by extreme levels.

Equipment and use:

This small diaphragm condenser microphone has a 3-pin XLR connector and comes with a matching windscreen. Due to its acoustic properties it can be used to pick up overheads and acoustic instruments.

Commissioning:

All connections of the device should be made before switching on. Only use high-quality, undamaged and as short cables as possible for the connections.

Directional characteristics:

Microphones have one or more directional characteristics in order to achieve better sound recording results, depending on the application. Sound arriving at the basket and capsule from certain angles can be erased, attenuated or not influenced at all. How strong or weak these effects are depends on the microphone. The main characteristics are omnidirectional, eight and club, while the cardioid, wide cardioid, supercardioid and hypercardioid characteristics are mixed.

Example application 1: Omnidirectional

Since the omnidirectional characteristic has no extinctions due to the design of the microphone, sound from all directions can be picked up almost uniformly.

Example application 2: Cardioid

Sound hitting the rear is extinguished/dampened by the cardioid characteristic. The focus here is on the direct signal.

FAME Audio Single C – Cardioid characteristic:

The FAME Audio Single C is characterized by its cardioid characteristic, which effectively cancels or attenuates sound arriving from the rear (at the bottom of the drawing or at 180°). Due to its acoustic characteristics, it is ideal for overhead microphones and for miking acoustic instruments.

(Drawing is for general illustration only and may vary by microphone)

Troubleshooting:

The following overview serves as an aid for quick troubleshooting. If you are unsure, contact the manufacturer, the dealer or the corresponding specialist personnel.

Symptom Troubleshooting
No tone Check the cable for damage (cuts, extreme kinks, etc.) and

replace if necessary.
Check the wiring. Connectors must be fully inserted and snap into place!
Check if the 48V phantom power is switched on at the console/interface.
Check the setting of the preamplifier on the console/interface/etc.
Arm microphone in your DAW (Digital Workstation) or activate direct monitoring
Microphone may need to be levelled. Please read the software manual of the respective DAW.
Delayed tone| Change the buffer size in the DAW settings. The lower the number, the lower the latency. (Note: with a low buffer size, the machine requires higher performance. Depending on the computer, this can lead to higher performance losses). For more information, please refer to the manual of each digital audio workstation.
