- Never open the microphone basket to avoid damage to the sensitive microphone capsule.
- Observe the specified sound pressure level/noise level spacing to prevent destruction of the diaphragm caused by extreme levels.
Important safety instructions
Please read before connection
- DANGER! (Electric shock due to high voltages in the device)
- The housing must not be removed! There are no parts to be maintained in the device. Inside the unit there are components which are under high electrical voltage.
- Before each use, check the device for damage or the absence of components, protective devices or housing parts. If this is the case, do not use the device!
- Leave maintenance and repair work to a qualified service workshop or contact your dealer.
- DANGER! (Electric shock due to short circuit)
- Modifications to the power cord or plug are prohibited. If the power cord is damaged, it must be replaced immediately with an original spare part from the manufacturer. Failure to do so may result in fire or death due to electric shock!
- DANGER! (For babies and children)
- Dispose of or store any packaging material properly! Packaging material must be kept out of the reach of babies and children due to the danger of suffocation.
- Make sure that children never use the device unattended! In addition, make sure that children do not remove (small) parts from the device, as they could suffocate by swallowing parts!
- Hint! (Fire hazard due to overheating)
- The maximum permissible ambient temperature of this device is 40°C.
- Ensure that the unit is placed in a place with adequate ventilation, out of the reach of direct heat sources, naked flames and combustible materials and liquids.
- The ventilation slots of the device must not be taped or covered.
- Hint! (Operating conditions)
- Due to its structural characteristics, the device is designed for indoor operation (IP20). Never expose the device to rain, moisture or liquids as this may cause damage.
- Vibrations, dust or solar radiation can also lead to damage, avoid them!
- Hint! (Condensation)
- To avoid condensation in the unit, the unit should adapt to the ambient temperature before commissioning.
- Hint! (Power supply)
- This large diaphragm condenser microphone is operated with phantom power. According to DIN 45596, phantom power is a positive voltage of 12, 24 or 48 volts on both AF lines compared to the cable shielding.
- The phantom power usually comes from mixing consoles, sound cards or microphone amplifiers, sometimes also from batteries.
- If you do not use your device for a long period of time or carry out maintenance work, disconnect the device from the power source in order to minimize danger. Never pull the cable while phantom power is active!
- Hint! (Unwanted odours)
- A new product can sometimes lead to unwanted odours. This reaction is normal and disappears after a few minutes.
- Hint! (Damage to loudspeaker diaphragms due to feedback)
- Avoid feedback by keeping the microphone away from activated speakers that are simultaneously listening to the signal. If necessary, turn off the speakers completely.
- Hint! (Sensitive microphone capsule)
- To avoid damage to the microphone capsule – never open the microphone basket!
- Hint! (Sound pressure level/noise level to noise distance)
- Observe the specified sound pressure level/noise level spacing to prevent destruction of the diaphragm caused by extreme levels.
Symbols on device and packaging
- The lightning flash symbol warns the user about non-insulated current and the risk of electrocution.
- The exclamation mark symbol warns the user about important maintenance and operating instructions in the manual.
- The lightning warns you of dangerous voltage accessible from the outside. A connection to any terminal marked with this symbol may only be made with a ready-made cable that complies with the manufacturer’s recommendations or with cables installed by qualified personnel

Intended use:
- The product FAME Studio CM2 was designed for use as a microphone. The device may only be operated for this purpose and in accordance with the operating instructions. Other purposes as well as operation under other operating conditions are expressly not intended and can lead to damage to property or personal injury! No liability is assumed for damage resulting from improper use.
- It must be ensured that the device is operated exclusively by trained and competent users who are in full possession of their mental, physical and sensory abilities. The use of other persons is expressly only permitted at the request of a person responsible for their safety, who instructs or supervises the use
Installation:
Always check the device for damage before use. Use the original packaging or
suitable transport or storage packaging to protect the product optimally from
influences such as dust or moisture, etc. when not in use.
Equipment and use:
This large diaphragm condenser microphone has a three-pin XLR connector and
comes with a matching bracket. Due to its characteristics, the FAME CM2 can be
used for miking vocals, acoustic instruments or percussion.
Commissioning:
All connections of the device should be made before switching on. Only use high-quality, undamaged and as short cables as possible for the connections.
Configuration of the 3-pin XLR connector
Directional Characteristics
Microphones have one or more directional characteristics in order to achieve better sound recording results, depending on the application. Sound arriving at the capsule from certain angles can be erased, damped or not influenced at all. How strong or weak these effects are depends on the microphone. The main polar patterns are omnidirectional and figure-eight, while the cardioid, wide cardioid, supercardioid and hypercardioid characteristics are mixed.
Example application 1: Omnidirectional
Since the omnidirectional characteristic has no suppression due to the design
of the microphone, sound from all directions can be picked up almost
uniformly.
Example application 2: Cardioid
Sound hitting the rear is suppressed or damped by the cardioid characteristic.
The focus here is on the direct signal.
FAME CM2 – Cardioid characteristic:
The included USB condenser microphone features a cardioid characteristic that
effectively cancels or attenuates sound from the rear (at 180° or below). This
microphone is therefore ideal for voice, vocal, voice-over and instrument
pickups
(Drawing is for general illustration only and varies according to microphone)

Troubleshooting
The following overview serves as an aid for quick troubleshooting. If you should be uncertain, contact the manufacturer, the dealer or the corresponding specialist personnel. Never open the device yourself!
Symptom | Troubleshooting |
---|
No tone
| Check the cable for damage (cuts, extreme kinks,
etc.) and replace if necessary.
Check the wiring. Connectors must be fully inserted and snap into place!
Check if the 48V phantom power is switched on at the console/interface.
Check the setting of the preamplifier on the console/interface/etc.
Delayed tone
| Change the buffer size in the DAW settings. The lower the number, the lower the latency. (Note: with a low buffer size, the machine requires higher performance. Depending on the computer, this can lead to higher performance losses). For more information, please refer to the manual of each
digital audio workstation.
If the specified fixes have not been successful, please contact our service staff. The contact details can be found at www.musicstore.de
