Intended use

The keymaXX PK-149 is a digital home keyboard, designed to play sounds on the keyboard and make them audible through built-in speakers or headphones. Improper use of the product is considered improper and can lead to personal injury or property damage. No liability is assumed for damage resulting from improper use.

It must be ensured that the device is operated exclusively by trained and competent users who are in full possession of their mental, physical and sensory abilities. The use by other persons is only permit-ted under the supervision or guidance of a person responsible for their safety.

Important safety instructions

Please read before connection!

CAUTION! (Electro Magnetic Interference)
The normal function of the product may be disturbed by Strong Electro Magnetic Interference. If so, simply reset the product to resume normal operation by following the owner‘s manual. In case the function could not resume, please use the product in other location.

DANGER! (For babies and children)
Dispose of or store any packaging material properly! Packaging material must be kept out of the reach of babies and children due to the danger of suffocation.

Make sure that children never use the device unattended! In addition, make sure that children do not remove (small) parts from the device, as they could suffocateby swallowing parts!

DANGER! (Electric shock due to high voltages in the device)
The housing must not be removed! There are no parts to be maintained in the device. Inside the unit there are components which are under high electrical voltage.

Before each use, check the device for damage or the absence of components, protective devices or housing parts. If this is the case, do not use the device! Leave maintenance and repair work to a qualified service workshop or contact your dealer.

DANGER! (Electric shock due to short circuit)
Modifications to the power cord or plug are prohibited. If the power cord is damaged, it must be replaced immediately with an original spare part from the manufacturer. Failure to do so may result in fire or death due to electric shock!

WARNING! (Damage to hearing)
The unit may generate volumes that may cause temporary or permanent hearingloss. Over time, even seemingly uncritical levels can cause hearing damage.
Reduce the volume immediately if ear noise or hearing loss occurs. If this is not possible, keep a greater distance or use adequate hearing protection.

Hint! (Fire hazard due to overheating)
The maximum permissible ambient temperature of this device is 40°C. Ensure that the unit is placed in a place with adequate ventilation, out of the reachof direct heat sources, naked flames and combustible materials and liquids.

The ventilation slots of the device must not be taped or covered.

Hint! (Operating conditions)
Due to its structural characteristics, the device is designed for indoor operation (IP20). Never expose the device to rain, moisture or liquids as this may cause damage.

Vibrations, dust or solar radiation can also lead to damage, avoid them! Do not apply excessive force to the switches or controls.

Do not let paper, metallic, or other objects into the instrument. If this happens, remove the electric plug from the outlet. Then have the instrument inspected by qualified service personnel.

Disconnect all cables before moving the instrument.

Hint! (Power supply)
It is essential that you check that the device voltage matches your local mains voltage. It is highly recommended that you fuse your mains socket with a residual current circuit breaker (FI).

Please connect the designated AC adaptor to an AC outlet.

If you do not use your device for a longer period of time, disconnect it from the power supply in order to minimize danger. The same applies to storm conditions such as thunderstorms, floods, etc.

Hint! (Commissioning)
All connections of the device should be made before switching on. Use only highquality cables for connections.

Hint! (Installation)
Be sure to inspect the device for damage before using. Optimum use of the original packaging or suitable transport or storage packaging to protect the product when not in use. Optimally against influences such as dust or moisture, etc.

Hint! (Possible damage due to magnetic fields)
Loudspeakers generate a static magnetic field. Please keep an appropriate distance from other equipment that may be affected or damaged by an external magnetic field.

Hint! (Interferences with other electrical devices)
Radios and televisions placed nearby may experience reception interference.
Operate this unit at a suitable distance from radios and televisions.
If this equipment does cause harmful interference to radio or television reception, which can be determined by turning the equipment off and on, the user is encouraged to try to correct the interference by one or more of the following measures:

  • Reorient or relocate the receiving antenna
  • Increase the separation between the equipment and receiver.
  • Connect the equipment into an outlet on a circuit different from that to whichthe receiver is connected.
  • Consult the dealer or an experienced radio/TV technician for help.

This equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a Class B digital device, pursuant to Part 15 of the FCC Rules.
These limits are designed to provide reasonable protection against harmful interference in a residential installation. This equipment generates, uses, and can radiate radio frequency energy and, if not installed and used in accordance with the instructions, may cause harmful interference to radio communications. However, there is no guarantee that interference will not occur in a particular installation.

Cleaning

A regular cleaning of the device from impurities and dust increases the durability of the product.
Always disconnect the device from the power supply before cleaning it! Never clean the appliance wet! Optical lenses should be cleaned with a dry microfiber cloth to optimize light output. Ventilation grilles and openings should always be cleaned of dust and dirt. Suitable compressed air sprays are recommended for this application.

Environmental Protection:
The company MUSIC STORE professional GmbH always strives to reduce the burden of packaging to a minimum. The use of environmentally friendly and recyclable materials is of fundamental importance to us. Please recycle the packaging components after use.

SymbolDisposal of packaging:
Ensure that paper packaging, plastic material, etc. are recycled separately. Observe the labels and the corresponding regulations.

Disposal of batteries:
Batteries do not belong in the garbage! Please dispose of batteries in accordance with official regulations at collection points or disposal stations.

Disposal of your old device:
Do not dispose of the device with household waste! This device is subject to the WEEE Directive (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) in its currently valid version.

The device is to be disposed of by an approved disposal company or your local waste disposal service. The regulations applicable in your country must be observed!

POWER

A. THE BATTERY USAGE
The battery installation: The body of the keyboard is turned over. The plastic battery cover is taken out No.1 batteries (8 pieces, 1.5v) are installed. The polarities of the batteries are corresponded to and the batteries are covered.

The battery exhaustion:
After the battery is exhausted and the voltage reaches a range of value, the keyboard is unsound or timbre sound get lost. The battery (8 pieces) must be changed. If the battery is not used for a long time, the batteries must be taken out to avoid components damage.

B. The usage of A/C adapter
When the keyboard is not used, the plug must be pull out.
When the keyboard is connected with the socket of the mains supply, the A/C adapter with the keyboard is only used. In order to avoid the component damage, other types of adapters are forbidden to be used. The D/C plug of the adapter is inserted into the power supply jack, the A/C plug of the adapter is inserted into the suitable socket.

C. The usage of jack
-MIC (38) Microphone connection, after connected you could sing while you areplaying. -PHONES (37): The plug of the earphone is inserted into the earphone jack in order to avoid influencing other people while the keyboard is learned

FUNCTION & OPERATION

The power is connected correctly and the power switch button is pressed. When the displaying is lit, the keyboard is able to be played.

  1. Timbre
    In usually mode, press [timbre], than you can choose the timbre, 000-509 number timbres are able to be selected. If you want to select the 015th timbre, you should press number [0] [1] [5] to enter. In the chord mode, 19 buttons on the left hand is timbre and is not the scale button.

  2. Lighting keyboard
    You could play the keyboard with flash lamp. Default mode is lighting keyboard. Press the [Lighting keyboard] button, you could cancel or star playing with lamp.

  3. Sustain/Vibrato (the effect when you play the keyboard only)
    Sustain: the endnotes played are lengthened.
    Vibrato: the pitch of notes vibrates within a limited range.

  4. Auto accompaniment
    A. Rhythm selection
    Press the button [rhythm], the rhythm numbers from 000 to 299 is able to be selected. After selected, you should press the button [start/stop] to play. And you press again will exit. In the rhythm mode, one of 299 rhythms could be selected again when you press the number  button. For example, press [0], [0] and [5] to enter the 5th rhythm.
    B. In the mode of accompaniment :
    Including single finger and fingered.
    It is playing without rhythm when you choose manual playing and chord playing. It is playing with rhythm when you choose auto accompaniment chord playing, and each pair of them has corresponding relation.
    After Pressing button [single finger], it will show on display, press again to end this service of chord

  5. Single finger chord as follows:
    Major chord: root chord playing Minor chord: playing root chord with a black key on the left of keyboards.
    Dominant seventh chord: playing root chord with a white key on the left ofkeyboards.
    Minor seven chord: playing root chord with a white key and a black key on the left of keyboards.
    The [fingered] button is pressed, the corresponding display is shown on the screen.
    The button is pressed again to close the chord. The fingered as follows: C, Cm, C7, Cm7, the C chord finger as follows: Chord types| Chord Fingering

  6. When rhythm is in service, press [single-finger] or [fingered] to start corresponding auto accompaniment chord function, press [chord off] or press them again to end the service off the chord (rhythm still goes on).
    When you press [normal] then the chord off, manual chord and auto accompaniment mode will exit.
    Auto accompaniment setting: When the rhythm is played, press the [Insertion], One note will be inserted during the rhythm is played, and then will be transferred to the normal rhythm. If the button is pressed for a long time; the interlude is played in cycle. Press the [sync] button you will enter sync mode. In the sync mode, when you press the keys which in accompaniment area at the first time, the auto accompaniment will be start. Press the [sync] button again the sync mode will exit. A. Tempo setting: You could set the tempo when playing the music or rhythm. Pressing the [+], [-] at the same time tempo will be default.

  7. Volume
    Master volume: Press the button [+/-] to turn or turn down the volume, and the 4th grade is the default volume, 8 grades in all. Accompaniment Volume: 8 grades in all, to adjust the keyboard percussion volume and chord volume, and the 6th grade is the default volume.

  8. Percussion:
    Press [timbre], and then choose the 128th timbre, the keyboard will become percussion keyboard, total 61 percussion keys. Each key corresponds to one percussion.

  9. Metronome:
    If the [metronome] button is pressed, you will hear the beat when the tempo mode is entered. When the button is pressed each time, the following function is effected: 1/4 beat, 2/4 beat, 3/4 beat, 4/4 beat. And you could press this button to exit the mode, and the state will show on the display.

  10. Keyboard split:
    Press the [split] button, the 61 keys keyboard will be separated to two areas. At this time, the 24 keys on the left of the keyboard are separated and the pitch is raised by 8 degrees, and the original timbre is maintained. The pitch on the right of keyboard is lowered by 8 degrees and the pitches on both areas are the same. The timbre on the right area can be selected as your request.

  11. Transposition setting:
    Pressing the button [+] or [-] you could adjust the pitch of the keyboard to between “+6” and “-6”. You could do that when you didn’t change the mode you play.

  12. Record
    A. The [Record] button is pressed to enter the recording mode, about 45 notes areable to be recorded. In the recording mode, press the note button, and the note which you played will be recorded into the keyboard.

  13. After the recording is full, the note button is pressed, and the note is not recorded again.
    After recorded you could press [Play] to play the recorded note.

  14. Program
    Press the [Program] button into program mode
    In the program mode, you could edit the drum sounds into the keyboards by press the drum keys (maximum 32 drum sounds could be edited.)
    It will not be recorded when the numbers of the edited drum sounds arrive the max, After finished you could press the button [play] to play your edited drum sounds (by 1/4 beat in the cycle mode).
    Press [Play] again you could stop playing your edited drum sounds, and then you could start new edited.
    In the program mode, press the [Program] or [Start/stop], you could exit the program mode.

  15. Playing
    Pressing the [Demo one] button, the single cycle mode will be entered. Pressing again or Pressing the [Start/stop] button, you will exit the mode.
    Pressing the [Demo all] button, the cycle mode will be entered for the file. Pressing again or pressing the [Start/stop] button,you will exit the mode.
    When the music is playing, you could choose the music by pressing number button or [+] and [-].

  16. Teaching function ( with light)
    The learning mode is three steps to guide beginners to learn to play the electronic keyboard.
    [Teaching 1], [Teaching 2] [Teaching 3] button is pressed to enter the relevant learning mode. The study mode is designed for kids and beginners.
    After one song is learned, the same music will be repeated.
    Press the button to start teaching mode. You could see [STEP 1] or [STEP 2] or [STEP 3] on the screen,
    Pressing [+], [-] these buttons to select the songs which you want to learn. And then you can follow the instruction lamp to play. The music will be play when youpress note button.
    When you stop pressing note button the music will be stop.
    Pressing the button again will exit the teaching mode. Teaching 1 single key):
    No matter what the note you played is correct or not, the correct note is sounded and the music is continued

Teaching 2 (follow):
If the note you played is incorrect,the music can’t be continued until you play correct.

Teaching 3 (Ensemble):
If the note you played is incorrect, you can’t play in 3 second, and the correct note will be played with instruction lamp on the keyboard, then you could follow to play, and the screen will show the correct notes and tempo at this time.
